First the patriarchs of the Livingston dynasty are twins Adam and Ace. Their dynasty is built on soul food restaurants, and cooking shows, that the Livingston children and other family members run. First up is Bianca, the family thinks her engagement and wedding to Cooper is a done deal both the families are expecting it. But Bianca has other plans, one is the fact the she wants a career in the family dynasty; she is vying for the same spot as her brother. Is A Taste of Soul a man’s world or can Bianca come up with a proposal which shows the boardroom what she’s made of? Jefferson’s aspirations of heading the new location in California are daunted by his sister. But Bianca is the least of Jefferson’s trouble. His girlfriend Keisha has more secrets than Jefferson can handle right now and one of them could mean the end of the Livingston dynasty. Is time on Jefferson side or will love blind him to a fault? Keisha wants nothing more than to please the two men in her life and get a piece of the pie for herself. But in this world she is finding out that it’s not this and that but this OR that, and choosing for Keisha isn’t really a choice at all. The book opens with Ace calling a family meeting and letting everyone know that someone is stealing corporate funds. The reader finds out early who the thief is but it’s enough twist and turns in this book to keep the suspense seeker very happy. Mind Your Own Business looks at meddling folks and what happens when some people attend to the affairs of others instead of their own. Wonderful book

It's the Livingston clan against the world. No one who ever dated, work for, or knows a Livingston want to get even with a member of that family no matter what. Wow, what can I say without giving anything away. The drama surrounding the Livingston Corporation and family is never ending. I can't wait to read the next book "Taking Care of Business" got to see what's up with Jefferson and Divine; Chardonnay and Quintin. I must say, I read a few chapters each day and couldn't wait to continue reading, really kept me captivated. Wow, what can I say without giving anything away. Once more Ms. Lovely has created a drama-packed, well-plotted page turner. I enjoyed this book very much, even though it seemed slightly less true-to-life than the first book. Most prominent of these was that the Livingstons are depicted as having much more wealth (holdings in the "tens of millions," million-dollar gifts given to the sons of the family when they turn 30), than would seem plausible for people who simply own a few soul food restaurants all located in one city (with a recent branch Once more Ms. Lovely has created a drama-packed, well-plotted page turner. I enjoyed this book very much, even though it seemed slightly less true-to-life than the first book. Most prominent of these was that the Livingstons are depicted as having much more wealth (holdings in the "tens of millions," million-dollar gifts given to the sons of the family when they turn 30), than would seem plausible for people who simply own a few soul food restaurants all located in one city (with a recent branch-out on the West Coast, plus a recent, highly successful foray into selling a meat cooker, neither of which has been in existence long enough to bring in all those millions). I would expect them to live well, but wealth of the magnitude described, in the $50 million range, is more in keeping with owners of a nationwide chain, like the Krocs of McDonalds; or product, like the Johnson Publishing Company of Chicago. Hey, can I get the name of their investment counselor? It also struck me as improbable to have Keisha down in the islands just days after she decided to go. You can no longer leave the United States to go to any other country without a passport, which wasn't mentioned. What *was* mentioned was this character's meager means and limited experiences, that she'd barely been out of the 'hood, and how impressed she was with the way the Livingstons lived...not exactly the portrait of someone who'd be likely to have a passport handy for herself and for her children (who would each need one as well). I also found myself a little confused, having thought that Jefferson and Bianca were based in L.A. Maybe I missed something, but I don't remember them being mentioned in the first book until the very end. This would seem odd if Jefferson was in Atlanta working for the family business all along (I believe Bianca at least was in Europe). Those not-so-minor points aside, I'm enjoying this story and definitely plan on reading the next installment in this well-put-together series--and I'm usually not one to read series!--and hope the unbelievability factor is toned down. I do recommend it for those who like fast-moving, well-plotted stories. P.S. I was suspicious about Divine from the very beginning, because I kept thinking of the late celebrity with that name. I wonder if that was a little joke on the author's part?

Mind Your Own Business is the second installment in “The Business Series” by Lutishia Lovely. The storyline follows siblings Bianca and Jefferson Livingston as they vie for the same position to head the West Coast expansion of the Taste of Soul restaurant, the family business. The storyline follows siblings Bianca and Jefferson Livingston as they vie for the same position to head the West Coast expansion of the Taste of Soul restaurant, the family business. Beyond the obvious accolade, they each have personal reasons that are propelling them to fight for the opportunity. Bianca is engaged to Cooper Riley, Jr., a prestigious lawyer and family friend, but after an affair while studying in Paris, she returns to Atlanta wanting to end the relationship in hopes of finding true love like what she experienced abroad. The expansion will give her a reason to relocate and distance herself from an engagement she no longer desires. Jefferson has met the perfect woman for him, but coming from a prestigious family he is unsure of how to introduce her as she comes from a different stock and is the mother of two sons by two different men. A chance to move to the west coast would delay the introduction while allowing him to solidify their relationship. While Bianca and Jefferson are battling their own personal issues, the family as a whole is still in search of a would-be murderer as well as the thief who is not only stealing money from one of the business’ bank accounts, but has also targeted Jefferson’s personal bank account as well. Lutishia has weaved a very intriguing story that incorporates just the right mix of betrayal, love, lust, treachery and revenge. Her story-telling technique lets you pick up in the middle of the narrative and follow the different characters and their predicaments even if you haven’t read the first installment. There are many questions left unanswered as well as impending and unresolved situations brewing. I look forward to finding out what’s next for this blend of unforgettable characters. This novel had me hooked within the first 4 chapters. I was in shock by how much was going on so early in the book. I couldn't wait to get to the end to see how it would unravel. Lutishia put together a very well written novel. I especially like how she let the reader into the Livingston Family. She let you know who was who without confusing you (this family is HUGE). I enjoyed the book so much I was ready to fly to ATL to Taste of Soul that food sounded delicious!!! Bianca and Jeff started "Mind Your Own Business" with a sibling rivalry of wanting to manage the TOS LA location and from there it goes into their uncle being shot by a man his wife was having an affair with. Who knew that this man would be pulling the strings on most of the rest of the drama throughout the book. I believe Jefferson will never be able to trust so easily again, Chardonnay is not letting things end they way they have, I'm sure Shyla is plotting some sort of revenge of her own, does Cooper really believe that Keisha will be true to him? He doesn't know what he's getting or has gotten himself into with her. Congratulations to Toussaint and Alexis on their new bundle of joy, hopefully their lives will be turmoil free. I'm pretty sad to finally be finished reading this book, you never want a good thing to end. I will certainly be looking at what other works Lutishia has because I'm a new fan. #exquisiteladiesbookclub

The storyline branched out to include Bianca and Jefferson Livingston, siblings who were competing to run the new location of their family's successful business amid their own personal love dramas. A couple of disliked (at least by me) characters returned like Quentin Bright and Shyla Martin, and Chardonnay alternated between making me want to slap her and wanting to give her a high five (but more so the former). The lovely Ms. Lovely skillfully takes us to the edge and back; just when we think they're going to get that SOB Quentin who has wreaked so much havoc in the Livingston clan, he slips away again. And now he has a sister and a scorned attorney to help him, so there's no telling where this journey will take us next! I am counting down the months until the next installment, 'Taking Care of Business.' I really can't wait to see what happens next!

This was a great sequel to All Up In My Business. Lovely tied up all the loose ends, as well as incorporating new drama (the Livingstons are no strangers to drama) into the mix. The book got off to a slow start and almost made me think I'd made a bad choice for my next audiobook but it didn't let me down once I got over the beginning hump. I also didn't realize there was a story before it so I plan to read that in the near future. And I know there has to be a follow up in the series because the book ends as if to say "wait until you see what's coming next..". So bring it on Livingstons and friends/frenemies!
