I wanted to wait to review this book until I had used it a fair amount and could share how much it helped (or didn't help me). One of the first things that stands out is how big of a book it is. This really covers a large range of topics and styles of manga. That is impressive, especially considering it is Shoujo which from what I understand is basically manga targeted towards high school girls. That is impressive, especially considering it is Shoujo which from what I understand is basically manga targeted towards high school girls. Surprisingly, you can be a full-grown male who ordered it on Amazon not knowing exactly what he was getting and still really enjoy this book! There are some of the standard things like building up from heads to the full figure and then action poses. What I liked is that there is a ton of different stuff you can draw from cat girls to samurai. You could draw everything in the book and not get bored. What I think is key is whether you are looking for step-by-step instruction or are more advanced of an artist than that. This book has excellent step-by-step instructions which helped me create the best looking manga drawings I've ever been able to achieve. If you don't want or need any steps then you may find this book less helpful than I did, but overall, I would give it my highest recommendation. Here are some of the drawings I have done thanks to Christopher Hart's book: http://isuckworse.deviantart.com/art/... http://isuckworse.deviantart.com/art/... http://isuckworse.deviantart.com/art/...

This was an easy to use guide. You can PROBABLY use it without having used Manga for the Beginner, but I wouldn't recommend it. It is mostly characters. This was an easy to use guide.
