The recipes are definitely doable, but nothing really stood out to me.

This cookbook has a little bit of everything from simple family potluck recipes to recipes from a Food Network star's signature restaurant. Included are 1950's cocktail party hits like Baked Alaska and Osso Buco. That being said, it's California Osso Buco with Kumquat sauce, not my Italian grandmother's Osso Buco. It's a cookbook of delightful juxtapositions just like that one- classics paired with reinvented classics. Tyler Florence Family Meal is quite beautifully bound and full of robust flavors, great for hearty meals. The photographs are heart warming, and the ingredients are not bereft of meat. The recipes are quite rich, and look to feed a large amount of people (hence the feeding-the-family theme). Recommended for those who enjoy cooking hearty, meaty dishes for their large families.

I love the chicken pailard and breakfast recipes. The dishes in this book are notably big-hearted and lend themselves to feelings of generosity and warm heartedness--just as a family meal should. Glad I happened to pick this book up!
