Instead, by using the following three simple, yet brilliant, techniques that make it just an incredible learning tool, this book shows you how to create your own photography workflow using Lightroom: 1) Scott shares his own personal settings and studio-tested techniques. He trains thousands of Lightroom users at his "Lightroom Live!" tour and knows first hand what really works and what doesn't. 2) The entire book is laid out in a real workflow order with everything step by step, so you can begin using Lightroom like a pro from the start. 3) What really sets this book apart are the last two chapters. This is where Scott dramatically answers his #1 most-asked Lightroom question, which is: "Exactly what order am I supposed to do things in, and where does Photoshop fit in?" Plus, this is the first version of the book that includes his famous "7-Point System for Lightroom," which lets you focus on mastering just the seven most important editing techniques. The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 Book for Digital Photographers is the first and only book to bring the whole process together in such a clear, concise, and visual way.

This is the 6th book by Scott Kelby that I've read and I have enjoyed all of them thoroughly. I consider LR3 to be the one likely to become the most useful to me. The content is well organized and as usual very thorough. I found his style to be both easy-to-read, and, ultimately, easy-to-follow when organizing and editing photos. Truly, this is a fine reference book that will get plenty of use in any photographer's library. It isn't holding together well. Admittedly, my copy has been getting much use...and I haven't been babying it, but I would have hoped for the pages to be more resistant to tearing and to stay intact within the volume. This is not happening. Be that as it may, I consider the purchase to have been a good one and should my book pass from the scene from heavy use, I would gladly buy another one, particularly if a hard bound one became available. Not likely given 1)planned obsolescence, and 2)Lightroom 4....or maybe even 5 could be out by then. Reference books just aren't as long lived as they use to be, either because of diminishing need or because of diminishing sturdiness.

This is an amazing book. This is also the first REFERENCE book for a computer program I read front to back, so while I don't have anything to compare it with, I can easily say it's an amazing book based on my knowledge of photoshop, after effects and Final Cut Pro. Kelby does a wonderful job explaining the many things you can do in lightroom with countless examples. That, and each step is partnered with a screen grab, so you always know what is going on. Lastly, the end of the book summarized the most commonly used tools, which was an added bonus. I know for sure I will be scimming this through again to mark the pages of tools I need to review to learn more about. So in the end - this is a great book. I would not suggest a THING for him to add or explain in a more personal manner. I am very happy I picked this over others, even though it's the only Lightroom book I've read.

Very clear and concise overview of Scott's workflow and how to navigate around in Lightroom. Whimsical and easy reading, in a fairly straightforward structure. It doesn't explore every nook and cranny, just the parts he uses and how he uses them, so as long as this suits your needs, it's a very helpful book. I have Lightroom 4 but this book (which I'd ordered a while ago) did a decent job of navigating me through it, although there have been some significant changes like the fill lighting contro Very clear and concise overview of Scott's workflow and how to navigate around in Lightroom. I have a copy of Evening's Lightroom 4 book arriving today to fill in the gaps and get some more perspective.

Liked a lot better than his PS one, but then again, I also liked his LR2 books. Lots of useful tips and ways to work PS into your LR workflow. That said, some instructions were not clear or simply too good to be acutally true. If you din't reimport your exports after running them through a PS export action, you're golden, but if you're me, you spent a frustrating afternoon trying to figure out why PS changes were not saving to the files. But this is neither here nor there. Good, solid book. Liked a lot better than his PS one, but then again, I also liked his LR2 books. Lots of useful tips and ways to work PS into your LR workflow. Great resource for learning even more about Lightroom. I'd been using LR for 3 years when I bought it and am a pretty advanced user, and I still picked up lots of new tips and tricks. Probably not the best book for someone just picking up LR, but I liked this one a lot better than the other LR 3 book on my shelf. Highly recommend this one for those wanting to really get more out of LR and speed up their workflow. Great resource for learning even more about Lightroom. An excellent resource for using LR3 to its full advantage. I borrowed it from the library right after I bought LR3 to get me through the basics of importing and organizing my photos. I've figured the editing out on my own, but I think I will end up purchasing this book as a guide to learning the ins and outs of Lightroom as I continue to use it. Great overview of Lightroom 3, particularly helpful for those of us who have never used it before. In addition to cataloging your photos, you can also edit and print them, create slideshows, and post to the Web. Scott steps readers throught each module clearly and concisely, and provides the basis for experimenting on your own.

This book is an excellent resource on Lightroom 3. Scott Kelby knows his Photoshop products...and Lightroom is no different. The chapter intros were quite humerous which was a nice break from the rest of the chapter info. My only problem with the book was that I bought it from Amazon's Kindle store and it was a little hard for me to get used to that format for a how to book. A good overview of Lightroom 3. Kelby puts forth a workflow that is easy to follow and gets good results. His previous book on the subject was also good (in case you use version 2).

To the point. Quite handy. I guess that one can figure out all the stuff mentioned in the book by playing around with Lightroom. But, this book would save much of the R&D effort.
