I’m a fan of porn star biographies and this peek into so many different stars at once seemed ideal. It also doesn’t hurt that each interview is accompanied by at least one full frontal cock shot for each porn star. After all, the money makers have to be on display. Other than the pictures though and the slight humor to the questions, the fourth book in Keehnen’s successful series is more of the same. It also doesn’t hurt that each interview is accompanied by at least one full frontal cock shot for each porn star. After all, the money makers have to be on display. Other than the pictures though and the slight humor to the questions, the fourth book in Keehnen’s successful series is more of the same. Unfortunately it’s so much more of the same I was incredibly bored. The author uses a good approach of asking the same basic questions to all the stars. Then based on some answers, Keehnen deviates and asks something else or stays with the script. There is also a brief bio for each star with the same questions asked. Every single porn star answers how and why they got into porn, what is surprising about it, what they like best and least, where they want to be in 5 years, their favorite mainstream movies, favorite co-stars, best pick up line, and so on. The upside is that the author allowed the personal answers to be shown intact. This includes the truly heinous spelling and grammar of many of the porn stars. A lot of these answers feel off the cuff and thus spelling is sometimes off but sometimes it’s so bad I kind of cringed. The answers vary from interesting to banal as the stars pretty much toe party lines, never mentioning any salacious gossip or particularly horrible set behavior. What is most evident is the self awareness that these stars are a commodity and porn is a business. They are not having sex for the joy of it, in fact the majority claim filming porn is anything but fun, but they are making good money and intend to capitalize on that. I certainly didn’t hold that against any of them but it does remind me that the sex we see in porn is totally artificial and really, not that sexy anymore. What’s also obvious is that relationships don’t last long between porn stars. With two notable exceptions, all the relationships mentioned in these interviews have already ended. Whether between porn stars or with men not in the business, these relationships are done. It’s kind of a very sad snapshot in that respect to know these stars loved their significant others enough to mention them in interviews but by the time the interview is published, those relationships are all over. I was surprised the author never prompted the mentions – by now he no doubt knows how transient relationships in general are – but the stars themselves chose to bring up the topic. Other than failed relationships and stock answers, this volume offers a little insight into the stars themselves or the gay porn industry. However, clearly some stars are very eloquent while others are bitter, some are excited, some are resigned, and some are extremely businesslike. Those stars that seem the most aware of the short nature of porn and audience attention spans come across as the most well rounded and intelligent. Others definitely sound pretentious while a few are arrogant but that’s the nature of the business of course. The author has done a great job in getting a massive group of porn stars that spans all of those personalities to give a touch of everything. If nothing else this is a snapshot of these stars and their opinions at that time. With relationships, jobs, and status changing in an instant for these performers, it’s a tiny glimpse into their life. If you’re a fan of these stars and don’t mind losing the glamour factor and realizing just how not sexy porn really is, this collection could be interesting. It does offer some impressive pictures I have to say.

I was in the mood to read something a bit naughty, a bit scandalous, and bit racy, so I figured what could be better than an entire book of interviews with gay porn stars. However, I soon found myself completely annoyed not by the content but by the execution. This has to be, hands down, the worst edited book ever. On every page there was anywhere from 5 to 25 errors. These errors ranged anywhere from grammar to punctuation to spelling. Did no one edit this book? Soon my entire focus was on all the errors. There are actually some really interesting interviews with these men, many who prove themselves to be very intelligent and articulate men. However, the errors kept distracting me. Truly a terribly put together book.
