Another excellent travel book in this series and a very good idea to advise us on backroads - excellent companion books.

A good travel guide. The author is quite optimistic and upbeat about finding something nice in every region. I know most of the routes described and I did not like them that much, but I agree these are quite well structured and generally you can't find much better. Also, keep in mind that tastes vary and you might like a dusty provincial cafe more than me. Only mention: the back roads seems to be a brand name. These are back roads in the sense they are smaller than the autobahn. A good travel guide. The author is quite optimistic and upbeat about finding something nice in every region. So I read this book thinking I would go to the South of France after a few days in Paris, but the more I learned about Paris made me change plans. I stayed in the city except for a side trip to Normandy and an evening outing to Versailles. This book will be central to the next trip I take to France.

Lovely. The best of France is off the beaten path and this book has great guides to finding the best of the off the beaten path track. It's sites to see, places to stay and things to do/eat/be are excellent recommendations. Lovely.
