Issue #2 follows up on a strong debut. We get a good dose of exposition on some — but not all — of the mechanics behind the genies wish-granting. We get some vignettes illustrating how the world outside the Lampwick is getting on but the core of the story remains the crew inside the bar. The story is intriguing — both the overall thought experiment and the stories of the main characters — but the real joy of the series is the wacky art. Browne creates a phantasmagoria out of everyone’s weird and wonderful wishes. The genies are also developing distinct personalities and displaying a capacity for agency. They may have ulterior motives…

Their personalities in this issue really come out and I like that they are a society, like when they clap for good wishes and say, "Wishing is an art." I'm already such a big fan or this concept and I love the art, I can't wait to learn more about the characters and the genies motivations! The Genies are not as benevolent as they seem. It's almost as if they want the human race to prove themselves worthy of something or remove the stupid and the selfish from the population in general. They applaud well done wishes and show disapproval of those who too harshly judge others. Each issue is a great episode with more clues about the nature of the new genie reality and the nature of humanity in general. The Genies are not as benevolent as they seem. Still holding interest Still interested. Really enjoying the art design. I think the wishes we see over time will actually influence the story. so much has happened over so little time, looking forward to seeing what happens with more depth.
