3.5 Stars. With this Volume, we end the run on Spider-Woman yet again. This run has been pretty good, and I'm not sure why it is stopping. Maybe we can get a Spider Ladies book with all of the popular Spider Women! Highlights: - Still recovering from her fights in the last Volume, Jessica "takes a day off" and goes to visit her friend Lindsay, who is a stuntwoman. Hmmm.... those ninjas aren't supposed to be in this movie.... Bet you can guess what happens next. - We get the tie-in with "Devil's Reig 3.5 Stars. Kingpin has declared war on "costumed vigilantes" and Jessica most likely has trouble coming for her. But why does she have to fight herself? Oh... not Veranke again! This lady is the eternal thorn in Jess's side. (They make for really good fights, but it feels slightly overdone...) - Finally, (thought this was a little weird and silly!) we have Jess facing off against a new team of villains, the Anti-Arach9... made up of all the weird villains that she has fought in this 4 Volume series. LOL they are so basic they aren't even worth mentioning. I'd like to continue to read Spider-Woman, so I hope it picks back up soon. Maybe give Jessica a nemesis (other than Veranke!) and an important cross into main continuity. Recommend. -

Devil's Reign comes to Spider-Woman's doorstep when the Kingpin unleashes one of the worst foes Jessica has ever faced not just on her, but her family! Karla Pacheco's particular brand of insanity has been a perfect fit for Jessica's chaotic life, and she manages to infuse these final few issues with just as much as before while also tying into the larger Devil's Reign story, and possibly the darkest story from Jessica's past. I won't reveal the villain of the piece, but suffice to say it's a perfect match. The final two issues bring the run to a close by bringing back all of Jessica's enemies for one final free-for-all that's packed with even more lunacy and zany sound effects than before. It's a little rushed and a bit messy, but it's a solid conclusion, and leaves the door open for whoever picks up the quill for Jess next. Pere Perez has pencilled all 21 issues of this series as far as I can remember, and these final few might be his best yet. The Arach-Nine issues are so densely packed with details and dynamic fight scenes, I have no idea how he managed to do it all and keep to a schedule. The Devil's Reign issues are also packed with pathos to go along with the emotional beats that Pacheco tosses into the story. If this run doesn't cement Perez as a top tier artist, I don't know what will. Spider-Woman has been that little book that could - after every few issues I was worried it would end, but we managed to squeeze 21 amazing issues out of both the creative team and Marvel itself. It's a shame that it has to end, but it's been a delight to have while it lasted.

Spider-Woman is one of my favourite superheroes and this run was just a massive let down for me.
