When Donya Al-Nahi helped her friend reunite with her kidnapped child, she embarked upon a calling that was to help hundreds of women in the same situation. These women's children are not taken by a stranger—they are snatched by their own fathers, usually Middle Eastern men who do not wish their children to be exposed to a Western upbringing, and so take the children back When Donya Al-Nahi helped her friend reunite with her kidnapped child, she embarked upon a calling that was to help hundreds of women in the same situation. These women's children are not taken by a stranger—they are snatched by their own fathers, usually Middle Eastern men who do not wish their children to be exposed to a Western upbringing, and so take the children back to the countries of origin. What started as a favor to a friend has turned into a life's work for Al-Nahi. In this book, she describes her adventures, venturing into the most dangerous parts of the world, such as Iraq, Libya and Dubai, in order to find the children and bring them home to their mothers. She has been arrested and thrown in jail, but this has not dampened her determination to do the right thing and reunite mother and child.

The author (through her ghost writer) tells many interesting stories of her endeavors to reunite mothers with children who were taken by their Arab fathers back to their homelands. A number of times she mentioned how she loved the excitement and adrenalin rush of the adventures which provided her with a distraction from her ordinary life. It concerned me that she seemed to help out women without properly researching into the situations including trying to reunite children who hadn't actually been kidnapped by their fathers but were with their father for genuine reasons. For someone who strongly, vehemently believed children should be with their mothers, she seemed to spend an awful lot of time away from her own children. The book keeps you turning the page but don't expect it to be the greatest you've ever read.

On põnevaid seiku, on inimlikkust, on rõõmu.

The story line is quite disorganized, jumping here and there. I don't agree with some of her points but of course everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion. With all her travels and those dangers she get herself into, it makes me wonder how she can handle her 4 children and husband at the same time. I mean, we should help people but make sure you help yourself (& your family) first. One thing I learn is that don't take everything at face value. It was interesting in parts but think at times a bit long winded as the vast majority of the stories were abit to similar but all equally interesting I always enjoy reading about cultures different from my own AS IT GIVES AN INSIGHT in to how others view things

I really enjoyed this book. I read it in an afternoon, I couldn't put it down. It was interesting to read about how different these lives can be and horrific what people think they can do to eachother. I really enjoyed this book.
