Breaking Whiskey is the cataclysmic finale of the Para Wars series. As America descends into all out war and then seems certain to take the world with it, this story delivers gut punch after gut punch, both personally for Paige and her family and for the country she has known and the struggling new one she strives to create. There are moments in this book that will move you, maybe to tears, but this is the story of a woman we came to know all those years and books ago, who was broken and nearly Breaking Whiskey is the cataclysmic finale of the Para Wars series. As America descends into all out war and then seems certain to take the world with it, this story delivers gut punch after gut punch, both personally for Paige and her family and for the country she has known and the struggling new one she strives to create. There are moments in this book that will move you, maybe to tears, but this is the story of a woman we came to know all those years and books ago, who was broken and nearly destroyed by the loss of her daughter. Over the ensuing books, she has rebuild her life, regained her daughter, refound her courage and confidence and become the almost iconic character she is in this final book. While the book is full of moments of profound sadness and tragedy, Paige rises above it all and through her sheer determination, the country endures with her. For those who are Paige fans, never fear; she DOES endure. The author tells us this is the last Paige Whiskey book, but the Paige's world, so lovingly built by S.S. Wolfram and so adored by her fans will live on, and we've been promised a brand new series and more stories featuring the people we've come to love. I guess I don't need to say I LOVED this book. It was everything I want in a paranormal drama and, in many ways, the best of the series, even though some of it hurt. If you're a Paige Whiskey fan, this one's a must read.
