Yes Is the book “icky” to modern ideals or sensibilities? (As in, a 15 year old marrying a 30 year old was acceptable in 1815 but might make a modern reader uncomfortable) No *This book is less of a romance and more of a slice of life short story. Yes, there is a love interest but we don’t get nearly enough of that. Usually, I would have a major complaint about that (and I do wish there had been more romance) but this story is so enjoyable regardless.

The Sheriff’s Headstrong Bride This was an interesting story about the women left in South Carolina after the civil war. Their husbands had either died during the war or after they returned home from their war injuries. They were pretty much destitute, food limited, five were living in a boarding house owned by Fanny. They became mail order brides to Mountain View, Montana. There was a group of younger ladies who made the trip also. All the feels This book has all the feels of something really good. After the Civil War, these widow ladies go west to create new lives. What's new about this is a group of widows from one city go together as the town advertised for a group of women and not a single mail order bride. In this first installment, the travel is accomplished and characters introduced. Finally, the first wedding takes place. All the feels This book has all the feels of something really good. Fanny and Matt 💞 Fun first book of the series. I really enjoyed reading about these widowed ladies deciding to go out west to snag husbands. Fanny had the silliest little sayings. The way the author described Matt’s height and physique, I pictured the old western star Clint Walker ❤️ It was a little odd, though, that only one of the ladies was mentioned as having had a child and but he had died. Anyway, this was definitely a fun read.

The Sheriff’s Headstrong Bride The sheriff was also the mayor of the small town in Montana that the single widows ended up in after answering an ad in the matrimonial times. Upon arrival they met the mayor and an older woman who was dressed very messy with baggy clothes and a pipe and old hat. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill

Widow Brides What an awesome story with Fanny and Matt. Fanny was a thinker and had a quick mind in how to solve Problems. Now Matt was the Sheriff and Mayor of the tiny town that was growing. Can’t wait to read the next one.

Another really stupid book Just when I thought I had read the stupidest story ever, low and behold comes this piece of tripe! No story here just a few random thoughts presented as an actual book. Why doI actually think this free stuff can ever be worth reading.
