Explosion of rage! And then the story arc takes a truly dark and disturbing turn, turning what has begun as a half-joke ninja comic with a few serious moments into a desperate gamble with truly pathos-inducing moments. Did I cry again? Yes, I'm afraid I did, and I cried at all the precisely planned-out moments, as if I was a puppet on a string. Kishimoto lined them all up and knocked them all down perfectly. I cried at Haku's dream of being useful, no matter what the cost. I cried at his sacrifice Explosion of rage! I cried at Haku's dream of being useful, no matter what the cost. I cried at his sacrifice. I got amazingly pissed off at Zabuza, and then I watched in amazement when the amazing failure of Naruto managed to shame the demon. And then I laughed with great bloodlust as Zabuza did his thing and redeemed himself. Just Wow. I've always loved that scene. The rest of the volume is meh, just setting up for the chunin exams which is fine and all, but forgettable except for the introduction of all the new players I'll get to grow and love all over again.

The Zabuza and Haku story arc draws to an end beautifully. One of the longest and more important character-growth arc yet and it had me feeling all kinds of things! Absolutely love it! We also get a teaser for next most-anticipated event in the ninja realm: the chunin exams. Can't wait for it all to begin and to finally see some of my favourite ninjas showcase their beautiful jutsus! Naruto's intent to kill is because of the nine tailed fox. Naruto also punches Haku so hard he breaks his mask. Naruto is not able to kill him. Haku feels like he has failed Zabuza. He asks Naruto to kill him because he feels like he failed Zabuza. Kakashi and Zabuza are able to sense the nine tails chakra. Kakashi wants to end the battle quickly. He summons his dogs to trap Zabuza. He uses his Sharingan and move he came up with. It's called, "Lightening Blade". Haku senses Zabuza is about to die. He jumps in front of the way. Haku dies protecting Zabuza. You also learn more about Haku's past. He lived in a village that didn't want him. It was mainly because of his kekkai genkai. His father killed his mother. He killed his father with the ice. Zabuza is the one that found him. Haku tells him, "I'm a weapon that you can use." Zabuza was precious to Haku. Gato shows up with an army after Haku's death. He is going to try to kill Zabuza. He also kicks Haku in the face. (Haku almost broke his arm in the last volume. It would have been worth it if he did.) Naruto gets mad again. He starts yelling at Zabuza. What he says cuts Zabuza to the core. Zabuza cries. He then kills Gato. The army he brought with them is angry. They want money. They try to fight them. Naruto and Kakashi help Zabuza out. They run away. Sasuke also revives at the end of the fight. Haku didn't hit any of his vitals. Zabuza is not able to move. He wants to be brought over to Haku. It starts to snow. Haku's heart was pure. Zabuza dies too. Tazuna is able to complete construction on the bridge. They decide to name it the "Great Naruto Bridge." Later, they return to the leaf village. The sand siblings also arrive. Kankuro starts to pick a fight with Naruto and Sakura. Sasuke steps into save them. Temari thinks Sasuke is cool. You first meet Gaara as well. He calls his siblings embarrassments. They are there for the Chunin Exams. Characters: Naruto-I love him so much. He is a great character. He's very caring about others. He knows it's wrong to kill. He stops himself from killing Haku. He isn't able to bring himself to do it. I'm really glad that he doesn't. (I can't wait to rewatch these scenes now. I'm really excited about it.) Kakashi- Amazing as always. I love "Lightening Blade." I love that he also knows how to show honor for fallen enemies. It's great. Sakura- She is kind of useless. Sasuke- Whatever. I hate his attitude in general! Kankuro- He's pretty arrogant in this volume, but I love him. Temari- Is pretty cool. Gaara- I love him so much. <3

Poor, pretty, crazy Haku. I feel sorry for him. I'm not sure about this message though: You can be a murdering asshole with a seriously questionable relationship with a young child and all it takes to redeem yourself at the end is to kill someone who is even more of a scumbag than you are. 12 year old Naruto Uzumaki is an orphan with a nine-tailed demon fox sealed inside of him. Despite this, he's determined to become the strongest ninja in his village and earn the title of Hokage. I like that the story focuses on a troubled main character -- not because a troubled main character is new, but because Naruto reacts like many kids do when they aren't given enough attention, and it's refreshing to see a manga reflect that. On the same note, I also like that he is growing and building on that trouble-making side. He's still a goofball, but he's applying himself. Awesome character growth for only four volumes. Downside: Sakura is still lame. I was really excited for the chapter called "Sakura's Depression," because I thought we'd finally get to see some more development of her character, but nope. The chapter is barely about her -- any introspection is lost by the appearance of new ninjas and Konohomaru. *Sigh* However, I'm a sucker for action manga, so I'll stick it out for now in hopes that we see some more female character development soon.

This book is a manga about the episode when naruto and sasuke fight haku(boy) may look like girl but its a boy. while sasuke and naruto fought haku kakashi had to deal with zabuza which is haku's partner. In this manga it was hard to fight haku because she was to fast and strong for naruto and sasuke but they still outsmarted him. Zabuza died because he got stabbed like 12 times on his back. This one was emotional y'all! Our resident ninja hero team finally come face to face with their final battle with Zabuza and Haku. We get to see more of Sasuke and Kakashi's special abilities AND Naruto's nine tailed fox is slowly creeping out. Good storyline, great character arcs, and super sad ending. Man the end of the Zabuza/Haku arc always gets to me. It's hands down one of the most beautiful and tragic moments in the series for me but I love it anyway. Anyway, v. 4 leaves one arc and enters another. It is time for the chunin exams and things are really picking up in terms of character. All of my favorites are showing up. Very annoying. I'd prefer Rock Lee any day.

The Haku and Zabuza arc is where the story takes a more serious turn and we get to see the main characters in action. The impressive aspect here is really the villains though. They aren't just token bad guys that you want to see killed. Haku and Zabuza stand out enough as characters to carry on through the rest of the series even though they were only around for a few books. They're likable even as enemies and they really help push the story forward. Like he actually stops from dealing the death blow to haku because he was kind to him that one time. Believing his friend to be dead. Instead he shows comparison and understanding and incredible mercy to an enemy. Zazuba getting emotional over hakus death. And fighting gatou's whole gang with nothing but a kunai clenched between his teeth and his useless arms dangling at his side is a sight to behold. Fucking legendary status right there. He's one of my favourite villains in this series for a reason. Bridge stands for hope and courage. How apt that they name it after naruto who comes to represent these two things for this generation specially in the upcoming events. Volume ends with the announcement of the chunk exams aka the most epic part of their childhood years and I fucking live for this! This exam is what Mark's the begging of the end, forning unlikely friendships and rivalries, binding charcaters together for the rest if the manga. I fucking love this part and every single charcater they introduce in this! Except ahem. That one asshole. But yeah soo fucking excited! Kurenai and asuma! Gggaaarrrrraaaaa kankaru And also Rockkkkk llllleeeeee Guy sensei! Kakashi and his hilarious rivalry! Neji, kiba and akamaru, shino hinata Ino shikamaru choji and literally everyoneee Honestly had forgotten how fucking intense gaara was in the beginning. Like he straight up was gonna kill people and my ass was like whoa arebt you friends ohhh yeah not yet. Sakura us also pretty fucking useless in these beginning chapters. It's good that they do acknowledge that and her rivalry with ino prompts her to move forward as a ninja and develop her skills more socially in an area she is good at instead of trying to be feminine and look good for sasuke all the time.

Naruto Vol. 4 continues what turns out to be a 221-page battle sequence (on Hero's Bridge), certainly the longest sustained battle sequence I've read in any comics published in any country; truly an amazing feat by cartoonist Masashi Kishimoto. No matter how many times I watch this arc I can’t stop myself from tearing up for Haku and Zabuza. Haku deserved more, they both did. The chakra of Naruto finally appeared in front of Haku and Sasuke. Kakashi and Zabuza felt the ugly power. They were afraid of loosing the seal of “Kyubi”. Naruto finally bated Haku with his hands. I felt sad Saku’s family problem and Zabuza’s kindness. I was moved their ways of life. I loved this volume.
