I knew I liked Carol James's heroine--Olivia--right from chapter one. Olivia is a writer, avid people watcher, and knows how to hang wallpaper. Gabe is renovating the house next door to Olivia's Mom and when he needs help with decorating, Olivia is nudged to help him. Gabe is hiding a past that has left him with guilt. Olivia might be the neighbor who helps him remember Christ's forgiveness. A fun and heartwarming Christmas romance. I knew I liked Carol James's heroine--Olivia--right from chapter one. I adore a little bit of reality check in my romantic fiction. And not mincing situational reality with saccharine. We’re all broken—all of us—and we know it. Like your good reads in little bites around the holidays? Redeeming Christmas is a perfect fit. Gabe is one of those rare creatures, a humble rising star entrepreneur, while Liv is a novelist who views the world through internal description. Told through both their eyes, their budding romance starts innocently during a holiday shopping event. When they realize they’re temporary next-door neighbors, one precious grandma who’s been praying for them before they were born, takes off her velvet gloves, knows how to use a cell phone, but makes sure Liv carries her pepper spray during their home decorating adventures. Of course everyone is too good to be true—on the outside! That’s what makes awesome romance. It’s the twists on the inside of the heart and the depth of reality that make this charming tale more than a gooey peppermint mocha at Christmas. Absolutely delightful for the dedicated inspirational romance reader. Just right amounts of everything packed in a lovely story.

Carol James has a gift for telling stories of broken people and showing how they can be made whole through God’s love. Redeeming Christmas is no exception. The heroine, Liv, is a romance writer with the flair for the dramatic, creating stories from everything and everyone she sees. Both Liv and Gabe, the male lead, have been broken by their pasts, but have chosen different ways to handle it. I kept turning pages to find how God would heal their hearts, and found a few surprises along the way. This is a short, sweet read, coming just in time to get you in the mood for the Christmas season.

When Livy and Gabe meet at the perfume counter neither expect what comes next. With secrets to hide and trouble brewing this story will give you something to ponder and keep the pages turning.

Inspiring What a great and uplifting story. It was fun to read. Had lots of "aww" moments to warm your heart. Great message as well, to inspire us to entrust our hurting bits to God; who only can redeem them and bring 'beauty out of ashes'. Highly recommend this book to anyone still holding back due to past hurts. Inspiring What a great and uplifting story. It was fun to read. Had lots of "aww" moments to warm your heart. I had the privilege of reading Redeeming Christmas before it was released for an honest review. I loved it as usual like all of Carol James’ books! Liv and Gabe were great, believable characters. They do get through their painful pasts to find romance. God heals their hearts so that they can open up to each other and love. My favorite quote from the book is “While the world might look at everything that had happened in the last 24 hours as a weird coincidence, he knew only God could have orchestr I had the privilege of reading Redeeming Christmas before it was released for an honest review. Curl up in your favorite chair with a cup of hot chocolate and this sweet book. I also recommend a nearby Christmas tree for the ultimate ambiance. Gabe, a freshly minted entrepreneur with a guilty past, and Liv, a romance writer harboring a secret, must overcome their self-made rules to achieve true happiness. When Liv's grandmother nudges them to spend time together, they learn the importance of truth and forgiveness. This is a perfect Christian novella to welcome the Christmas season. From the opening scene to the last word, Redeeming Christmas had me hooked. James’ trademark subtle humor reels the reader deep into the minds of the characters. Liv, a romance writer, spins gorgeous, romantic prose about Gabe, but one phrase from his POV had me in a puddle: He floated weightless in the ocean of her eyes. Swoon! James threw a major curve ball near the end, and nothing could have kept me from finishing. The ending was happy and sweet, just the way I love them! There is so much to love in this holiday novella. It’s perfect for that night you want to curl up with a hot chocolate near the fire and start and finish a story in about the time it takes to watch a holiday movie. Carol James is one of my favorite contemporary authors because she writes characters that are easy to fall in love with and her stories honor the Lord. If you’re looking for a holiday read that makes you smile, laugh, and have all those wonderfully warm and fuzzy feelings—this is it.

Redeeming Christmas is a great read. The story moves at a great pace. The characters jump off the page. The message within the story is timely and one that everyone can relate with. I fell in love with the characters. If you want an escape for a few hours this is the book that you want. You won’t regret the time you invest in Redeeming Christmas. Once you finish this story, check out other books by Carol James, they too are inspiring reads.

What a sweet, uplifting holiday romance! The writing was so good I felt like I was really in the moment, whether people-watching in a crowded shopping mall or hanging wallpaper in a neighbor’s bathroom. The chemistry between Livy and Gabe was right on, and I really rooted for them to work through their pasts and allow their love to blossom. Great read for the holidays!

Romance author Liv and an attorney-cop-spy meet in a scent shop. Then they share a bench in the mall Gabe is in sales. Loved Liv’s writer’s mind. Gabe bought the house next door for his mom. Liv helps him hang wallpaper. They do favors for on another. She fixed his real bow tie and a black tie event. He takes her on a sleigh ride. But Gabe doesn’t do Christmas, or God…until…satisfying ending.
