“I need my list.” The Pink Coffee Shop by Ellie Barker Finally got that Wednesdays we show pink books thing. 😂 Though I did want it with Christmas theme but I have nothing pink that’s Christmasy. Ah well. And this is a late post too. 3 stars. Or maybe 2.5 stars. I like the Pink Coffee Shop, the idea that all gadgets are banned in the shop. But I couldn’t warm up to Rosie. She sadly is traumatized from her parents’ untimely death and her aunt’s downward spiral and clings to the list of sayings her “I need my list.” The Pink Coffee Shop by Ellie Barker Finally got that Wednesdays we show pink books thing. 😂 Though I did want it with Christmas theme but I have nothing pink that’s Christmasy. She sadly is traumatized from her parents’ untimely death and her aunt’s downward spiral and clings to the list of sayings her aunt wrote for her to remember. She’s lucky to have friends like Wanda and Millie. And Sam. There’s this saying on Rosie’s list: beware of the takers. And I couldn’t help but think that Rosie is a taker herself. Which made it hard for me to cheer for her. I finished the book. Mostly because I wondered how Rosie would get herself out of her trauma. Still wondering that actually.

Great Book I thought this was good the way it was written. At first I wasn’t sure about the story but I got drawn in.

Although the general storyline is quite nice, I didn’t enjoy the style of writing. The book is based around a list which is quoted relentlessly, disrupting the flow of the writing. Rosie is an anxious person and the way the book is written made me feel uneasy and anxious too. Perhaps that was intentional and it is actually good writing, but that is not how I want to feel when reading a book. The ending is quite abrupt and predictable, but the story is nice enough.
