I'm hooked. Sure there's a bit to much slightly-BS philosophizing, but the action scenes are great, the integration of the characters is well done, the plot is propulsive, and the idea of high performance sports as physical and mind games is ell explored. Time to go and read the first 42 volumes. **Thanks to the artist, publisher, and NetGalley for providing me a free copy in exchange for an honest review. I'm hooked. The power with which I love this series is truly unmatched. I adore the growth that we have seen in all of the characters throughout the series. I also love seeing the glimpses of everyone effected by both Hinata and Kageyama throughout the series! The tankōbon continues his first professional volleyball game with the MSBY Black Jackals against the Schweiden Adlers – who setter happens to be Tobio Kageyama – one time teammate and rival once more. It concludes the first and second sets and covers most of the third set of the game. Each team wins one set each as the MSBY Black Jackals won the first set with a score of 25|1|20 and the Schweiden Adlers winning the second set with a score of 21|2|25. The tankōbon closes with the Jackals taking a one point lead with a score of 20|3|19. Haruichi Furudate has written and illustrated this tankōbon. The rival match between Shōyō Hinata and Tobio Kageyama continues and their teams seem evenly matched. Between the first and second sets has an in-depth backstory about Tobio Kageyama from his birth to his present state and how volleyball has been a constant in his life, which is a nice break between sets. All in all, Haikyu!!, Vol. 44 is a wonderful continuation to a new series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.

This particular volume focuses on the game between Hinata and Kageyama -- high school teammates now playing for different professional teams. I loved getting a chance to see them as rivals, both of them playing at their best and pushing each other to do better. Their teams have a mix of players from other high school teams they competed against in the series, as well as older players. This volume was pure joy and totally entertaining. If you're looking for an exciting sports manga, it doesn't get better than Haikyu!!

I love how the 3rd years are all super proud of Hinata and their "greatest decoy" child. Hinata does so much and clearly he's learned a lot from learning about beach volleyball. He's a capable hitter, decoy but also a back-up setter in the case that Atsumu or their libero isn't able to do an emergency set. No wonder they had Hinata be the Opposing Hitter starter instead of Barnes who normally would have that role as Opposing Hitter. Noya fucking off of Japan and travelling the world and fishing? Noya fucking off of Japan and travelling the world and fishing?? that's so him, he's capable of doing anything as long as he puts his mind to it and he'll be great in anything and I love that he knows that he can do anything and he decided to travel and fish and have fun in his own way. I love how everyone is collectively called the Monster Generation. What a fucking Title. Everyone has such technical play and Bokuto is just here VIBING and having a great time. He's just happy to be here and play volleyball with his friends. Ushijima never change my love. lol "Being good means being free." wise words omg that's how Kageyama got into volleyball? because of his grandpa?? that's so pure. Kageyama collect yourself child. lol Kageyama I swear to god you absolute fucker. Why is this game oddly so fucking TAME?? Where are the quick/freak sets?? Bokuto honey don't think too hard you're going to hurt yourself. Why is Atsumu so fucking dramatic, he's like you guys at Karasuno taught Kageyama that he can do whatever he wanted and get away with it. LOL bro it's not that deep. King of the Court ok son. Atsumu your growth honey, that's so great you're now a triple wielder server. I love this chapter on Atsumu you can just see how much he aims to get better and hone on his skills and how his relationship with his old team and his friends impacted who he is and how he plays. Bokuto!! My child!! I love it I love you being so capable, solid and confident in your skills and I love your personality. "Being short is a disadvantage but it isn't a sign of incompetence." BAM F A C T S I love all these chapters dedicated to all the Monsters and seeing their growth as players over the years I feel like a proud parent seeing them play in the pros.

HEY HEY HEEEEEY Would've been difficult for me to give a crap about a game where a school team wasn't playing. If I wouldn't have known more than half the players on the court that is. *4.5. This was such a great volume. The tension from the last volume carried into this one. The match was so intense but still interesting. some excellent background with kageyama. it's really vital to note that even naturally talented players have to practice and hone their skill continuously. furudate has dropped constant life lessons throughout the manga, and these have only increased now that we have reached the denouement. my only real complaint is the lack of space these comments have to settle and breathe with the characters and the reader. there is so much going on that it can be hard to focus. some excellent background with kageyama. it's really vital to note that even naturally talented players have to practice and hone their skill continuously. furudate has dropped constant life lessons throughout the manga, and these have only increased now that we have reached the denouement. my only real complaint is the lack of space these comments have to settle and breathe with the characters and the reader. there is so much going on that it can be hard to focus.

Seeing these characters grow since high school and having Furudate highlight them like this makes me feel like a proud father. I can't believe there's only one voulme left. I wouldn't be surprised if it leaves me a weeping mess. I love this series so much since it's given me a lot of joy in the last five years. This arc is like a Haikyu!! "Greatest Hits" collection, except everything gets even more difficult. The worst opponents Hinata and Kageyama ever had to face are all back, on their side or against them. The strategies they've used are being used against them, and the things that shut them down are now helping them win. Everyone is playing their best, no amtter what. This arc is like a Haikyu!!
