No wonder this brand-new shonen, Kaijuu no. 8, is drawing everyone's attention nowadays. This can, without a doubt, become the next big thing. Kicking it off, it is already a huge challenge to make their protagonist a man in his 30s, yet it succeeds in its ambition. The story follows said unhappy man known as Kafka Hibino who suddenly obtains powers to become a Kaijuu, making him the perfect defender against the monstrous creatures emerging around the world. MMMMMM. Only 10 chapters in and this already feels like something special. Great characters, great story, and fantastic art. I hope that years from now I'll be able to watch it reach it's 100 and 200 chapters. MMMMMM. Only 10 chapters in and this already feels like something special. This reminded me so much of Boku No Hero Academia, One Punch Man and Devilman Crybaby. This has great potential. I can't wait to read more. This reminded me so much of Boku No Hero Academia, One Punch Man and Devilman Crybaby. This has great potential. I can't wait to read more.

Super cool free-to-read manga about a man who suddenly turns into the kind of monster he dreams about fighting. Features a very intriguing set of characters and lessons about never giving up on your dream, even if you think it's too late or you're too old. Can't wait to see where the story is headed! Content warnings include: graphic violence and gore, body horror, death, injury and hospitalization, ageism, mild bullying/hazing.

Blending great creature art and characterization with a hefty dose of intrigue in the early chapters, Kaiju #8 had me hooked immediately. An unlikely protagonist for a shounen manga makes you forget that he's what kids would call an 'old dude' because he - quite believably - still has the dreams, aspirations, and childish joys of a real human being. You know, even if he does have 'a wee bit of a condition'... You know, even if he does have 'a wee bit of a condition'... The main supporting characters show that the author has put thought into their backstories, so the potential longevity of the series as individual character arcs are explored makes me very interested to see where it will go. We have more mysteries than answers regarding the kaiju, and their origins and the development of anti-kaiju gear are things I look forward to learning about as it progresses.

Kaijuu No.8 is a Kaijuu fighting battle manga with shades of "Attack on Titan", and a bit of "One Punch Man" colors mixed in. What's unique about this manga is that despite being a Shonen manga, the protagonist is not your prototypical teenager lead. He's a 30-something year old man living a life that's not going in the direction he had pictured as a kid, but through some coincidence of the universe, he's given the power and courage to fulfill his dreams once more. The series is still in its infancy, so the verdict is still up in the air, but I'm already hooked, eagerly anticipating more new characters, twists and turns in the storyline, and masterfully illustrated battle sequences.

CW: Blood, gore, death, medical trauma, violence. . . . . . . Man what a lead in! I've been an anime fan for a long time now, well over 20 years and very rarely do I read something that hooks me immediately. There is no guess as to why this is one of the fastest selling manga's out there and it's on everyone's TBR list. I first picked it up due to my love of anything Kaiju related but the plot is so much more than that. It moves quickly yet still finds a way to build characters rich backstories. I have a shonen jump subscription so i have access to manga in their vault. This one is a new one and is SO GOOD. The MC is a 32-year old himbo, the art is good, the humour is good, and the story is good so far! I'm excited to see how the rest of the series goes. It's messed up that I'm already caught up at chapter 15 when I read other manga that has between 200 to 1000 chapters. Four more days till next chapter :') I have a shonen jump subscription so i have access to manga in their vault. This one is a new one and is SO GOOD. This is giving me huge My Hero Academia x Chainsaw Man vibes! Both of which I really love. It’s no surprise I’ve come to like and enjoy Kaiju No. 8, too, given the similarities. I read this on the Shonen Jump app, and I'm SO EXCITED for it to get a physical release this year. It has the makings of a truly great series, with the perfect balance between humour and gut-punch character moments.
