As many know, I have a soft spot for this series and I don't think this will change anytime soon. Before I start with my review, I think it's important to mention that this book is the second installment in this Argurma Salvager trilogy, and I would recommend to read Broken Earth before picking it up. This book sets the story about five months after Veral and Terri departed from Earth to pursue their adventures as salvagers. Being of an exotic nature in space, Terri attracts a lot of unwanted attention which only increases Veral's protectiveness of his mate. On their way to their next job, they encounter ruthless space pirates who will stop at nothing to get what they want; blackmailing Veral into helping them find the treasure of a long lost legendary spaceship that crashed on a dangerous planet, by threatening his mate's life. But as the Intergalactic Files of Argurma Biology Data warns it best: ⚠️It must be noted to especially avoid confrontations with mated Argurmas, and never get between a male and his mate.⚠️ The best thing about Veral was how he stayed true to who he was from the first book; a grumpy, impatient and irritable loner. He didn't care about anything else but his mate's wellbeing and safety. Throughout the whole book, he was fiercely protective and territorial of Terri, always thinking of her first. The sweetest part about his character was how cold and intimidating he was towards anyone who wasn't Terri, only showing his soft side to her, teasing, caring, loving, with small subtle gestures and glances, truly besotted with her. Devoted to no end. “I would kill all of them for you and lay them vanquished at your feet that you would be adorned in the glory of the blood I shed in your honor. Never has a mate been more deserving of such honors.” -Veral “It may be prudent if you stay aboard the ship next time. The males exhibit too much interest in you. I do not mind exercising my right to protect you and detach their reproductive organs from their bodies, but it unnecessarily alarms security and brings attention on us.” -Veral Terri was likable, once more. She was lively and brave, a little sunshine in contrast to her mate. Her exotic looks and her scent attracted unwanted attention from other species whenever they would stop at outposts which only increased Veral's instincts of protection towards her. In this adventure, she learned how dangerous the space was and how primordial it was for her to adapt to it, and listen to Veral even if he was overbearing at times. She was sweet, strong and loving. The way she understood Veral, his distress, his need for her and the way she would reassure him was precious. The fact that Terri was a few months pregnant in this book wasn't the main focus of the plot, her belly was flat anyways; an argurma pregnancy needing a longer gestation time. Other than the food cravings and Veral being more territorial and guarding of her, it was almost easy to forget that she was pregnant. “I am not required to be ‘nice.’ My interests do not extend any further than my mate. You would do well to remember just how little my sympathies stretch beyond that. Do not get in my way again.” -Veral Their chemistry was off the charts, they both cared so much and would think of each other before anything else. Even if there weren't many romantic scenes due to the situation they were in, the moments that we did get were sweet, hot and heartwarming. Veral's attentions, his words, his glances, his discreet gestures towards his mate were adorable. Their forced separation only strengthened their bond and their love and it was beautiful to see. There is just something about them that is so perfect, so right and I love them with all my heart. “I’ll be yours for as long as you want me,” she whispered. A purr rattled from him, his hands tightening around her legs. “Never would there be a time or place where I would not need my anastha, or lay my life and honor before you. You may be mine, but I am yours as well.” Again, the narrators (Christopher Boucher as Veral and Jessica Threet as Terri) did an amazing job at portraying our main characters as well as the side characters. New enemies, new allies. GREAT characters; I'm thinking especially of Azan, a tough Blaithari female, as well as Garswal, a hybrid youngling. This book had much more adventure than its precursor, more action, more dangers and it was amazing to see the worldbuilding and imagination of S.J. Sanders. She really impressed me with her attention to details; I'm thinking especially about the planet Veral and Terri ended up on with the pirates, that had many perilous obstacles, hard living conditions and unknown dangerous creatures. ✔️HEA/HFN (view spoiler)[ The epilogue is a conclusion to their adventure in this volume. It is not a cliffhanger but it does feel like a HFN. Terri is still early in her pregnancy and she is looking forward to her future with Veral. They truly get their happily ever after ending in the third installment (hide spoiler)] ✔️Part of a trilogy ✔️Dual POV (view spoiler)[ 3rd person, alternating focus on H and h. One short chapter focused on a side character at the end (hide spoiler)] ✔️Age gap (view spoiler)[H is 257 (his species lives longer and with their technology, lives even longer... and h is 29-30 (hide spoiler)] ✔️Protective/Grumpy H ✔️Strong/Sweet/Sunshine h ✔️No OW/OM ✔️No cheating ✔️Short separation (view spoiler)[ They were kept apart by pirates who blackmailed them. For a few days, they couldn't see each other and Veral was very distressed by it. (hide spoiler)] 🔥 Steam level: 2/5 (view spoiler)[ Not many hot scenes but they are compensated by the chemistry between Veral and Terri (hide spoiler)] ⚡Content warning (view spoiler)[Oral sex/ Rough/ Doggystyle/ Rutting (hide spoiler)] ⚡Trigger warning (view spoiler)[Assault/ Blackmailing/ Violence (hide spoiler)] It's hard for me to decide if I liked this book more than the first one. They are both great on their own but together, they just hit differently. The bond between Veral and Terri only gets stronger and sweeter as the story goes and I always find myself longing to read more about them. I know the books aren't perfect but they sure do feel like it. And yes, I will most likely reread this series again and again...

So, they arrived in that scary planet, and it was very dangerous, one by one those useless pirates got killed and they didn’t know who’s killing them! 😘 More adventures type of story than book #1. ❤️❤️❤️

Terri is expecting but with Argurma pregnancies lasting three years, they still have plenty of time to travel and have some grand adventures. Veral is understandably very overprotective in regards to his mate Terri is like an exotic rare creature that many would steal if given the chance and though Veral knows she is brave and strong of heart she doesn’t have the defences to back this up so he wants to hide her away keeping her safe from all those who would do her harm. There's also the small matter of the council so they also need to keep a low profile not drawing unwanted attention to themselves. Answering a distress call places them both directly in the path of danger. Now Veral is the only thing standing between his mate and death as an unscrupulous pirate captain Uses Terri as leverage against her mate This was packed full of action danger and sheer guts and this chapter of Veral and Terri’s journey does show us just how solid a unit these two are becoming and here they must both now work as a team to stay alive both facing daily peril as they traverse some rough terrain planetside. If the local wildlife doesn’t kill them Then the genetically engineered monsters will as they set off on a cross-country quest to locate a lost treasure buried deep within a crashed starship. This easily managed to keep my attention and was well written with such vivid descriptions that drew me right in. This one made me love Veral and Terri all over again and I’m now incredibly excited for the final book of the series. So each book in this series is a separate story arc no cliffhangers but it does need to be read in order. It’s an imaginative endeavour with an epic cross-species love story and I definitely recommend this series if you like real aliens it’s such a good one. Rating: 3.3 / 5 *yawns* I have to admit that while I still very much loved the relationship between Terri and Veral, as well as the characters themselves, this book just...lacked the desperation that Broken Earth did. Like...I know this probably doesn't make sense since they're literally surrounded by dangerous alien pirates and are on a dangerous planet as well, but the whole treasure hunt plot just made me think of Treasure Planet, and, quite honestly, that's not really what I was going for in reading about a human-alien romance. I guess I was going for more of THIS And less of THIS Even though THIS is what I got. So yeah, a tentative skim on this one as I lost interest in what was happening. But hey, don't get me wrong--it's not that I don't like a good pirate and treasure plot, but I'd like to know what that's what I'm getting into. Oh and, uh...it was kind of heartbreaking to have our main characters apart for so much of this story. I like them best when they're together, mushball that I am. All in all, I might take a look at the third book of the series someday, but for now I'll put it on the backburner.

I loved the first story in this series, and the second continues on strong. PG is full of fast-paced adventure, space pirates, and freaky scifi creatures, while continuing Terri and Veral's storyline. It doesn't lean as hard into horror as BE did, but there's just enough in the action sequences to keep things tense. Thankfully, there's a lot less gore in this one as well. Life is pretty good to Terri these days, but she's currently on ship arrest because Veral has decided it's the only way to keep alive all of the curious males they encounter and seem to not understand she's not up for grabs. After a run-in with space pirates gives her a clearer view of just how much of a disadvantage she's at compared to the rest of the universe... she starts to wonder how she'll be able to take care of herself so Veral isn't constantly fretting over her. Veral has a lot on his mind these days: there's keeping unwanted male attention off his mate so he can function, training Terri to be a valuable salvaging partner, and eluding the Council, who are still looking for him and his human to study. It's pretty full in there. When an uncharacteristic decision has an undesired outcome, Veral finds himself in a situation he's never been in before, and he has to play things cagey and close to maneuver events in a way that will keep Terri out of harm's way. The main story itself is very enjoyable—with a lesser focus on sexual scenes than books in this genre tend to have—but there are a couple secondary characters who seem as though they may get stories of their own that I'm looking forward to. Especially a dashing and daring female pirate who has no use or love for men. F/F story, please please please?!

Another solid Argurma Salvager book from S.J. Sanders! I think I have something of a soft spot for this series, since Broken Earth was my gateway drug into alien erotica. Terri and Veral are just kinda cute, even with the kinky alien sex and Veral's weird dick (his "civix") that still doesn't make sense to me. At the end of the day, they've got each other's back and cannot be torn apart by petty insecurities or any foe who comes upon them. Picking this up was like sinking into a warm, familiar bath, and I finished it easily. **Spoilers below** This book details Terri and Veral's adventures in space, where Terri is woefully under-equipped to deal with all of the nasty aliens who find her an exotic piece of human ass, which means that Veral gets a little eensy bit over-protective and locks her in the ship whenever he goes out. I'm glad that they are addressing the rather obvious power imbalance that's only rendered more noticeable now that they're in space, whereas before, Terri had unique knowledge of earth to even out the playing field. When Terri and Veral get captured by space pirates, this power balance becomes even more stark when the pirate captain uses her as a hostage to ensure Veral's compliance with his orders as they seek out the lost treasure of Evandra. Luckily, halfway through, they end up encountering a special biotech symbiont that attaches itself to Terri and gives her superpowers. Very convenient. Still, I look forward to watching that dynamic even out, especially since Veral has recognized his overprotective nature by the end of the novel and endeavors to do better. With the number of times Terri's put into a life-threatening situation, I'm stunned that her alien baby is still alive. She's a sturdy thing, indeed. By this point in the series, Terri doesn't bat an eye at Veral's somewhat violent proclamations of love: "Perfection," he hissed as he gazed upon her. "I would kill all of them for you and lay them vanquished at your feet that you would be adorned in the glory of the blood I shed in your honor. Never has a mate been more deserving of such honors." "Fuck, I love it when you promise to do horrific things to my enemies," she whispered as she slid her hands over his taut pectorals. "I would feed you delicacies from their bones." "Okay, a little much there... but I can definitely get down with feeding me. In all ways." How cute. #couplegoals There were some charming side characters in this one, and I appreciate that Veral and Terri's relationship actually grew rather than staying stagnant. It's not quite a five stars from me because there was room for more depth and complexity of theme, and the whole pregnancy plotline was basically ignored even though I imagine that it should have posed a greater concern than just "I have weird cravings". I also, yet again, had a hard time visualizing some of the aliens and some of the action scenes. There were a few typos, and some scene progressions didn't make a ton of sense, but they're pretty minor. Overall, I really enjoyed this one, and I look forward to reading more adventures with these two idiots in space.

Well, this is a story that shows there is live after "I love you" alien-style. Terri, Earther female, is now firmly mated with Veral, an Argurma salvager, when they get a salvaging assignment beyond their dreams! A legendary ship of a now-defunct alien culture that happened years prior has crash-landed on a jungle-like planet, and Veral has been sent to find anything of value. Unfortunately, his ship is commandeered by an ex-pat of royal lineage (a royal bastard of a true blood line) who is greedy for this ancient culture's wealth and technology that he has no problem killing whomever might be in his way. In this case, he holds Terri hostage so that he can "persuade" Veral to assist him. It may look like a dead-end with no life together afterward in their sight, but both Terri and Veral work hard separately so that both can see each other again. Is this a typical, overused scenario? Not really. S.J. Sanders breathed in new life and new twists in what could had been a boring, plot complication, and I do appreciate that. I also appreciate the continued world-building and excellent, newly introduced characters (other than Terri and Veral) which gave this book richness. There are a few places I felt things could had been further enriched, but in the long run, I liked what I read. My only problem has to do with the Kindle Cloud Reader. Something has happened, and now it is slower and more difficult to turn pages, and I can't afford this. As it is, my Mac-to-Kindle got corrupted, and all my books I've bought through Amazon are being held hostage. If I can't use Cloud Reader, then what?

When they encounter the crew of a lost prince, Veral's only choice is to help them - even if he get's very grumpy about it - and let them on board. He doesn't trust any male near his beloved and frail human mate. That's when things go down, they're now prisoners of space pirates and the mission is now theirs. Will Veral be able to protect his mate? Will Terri finally be able to go on an adventure? I really liked this one, seriously. The story is compelling, the writing is amazing. I'm pleased with everything. Veral was very protective of Terri for almost the entire book, which is not a bad thing per se, but it gave me the feeling he thought she was helpless all the time, and Terri is anything but helpless. I was more than pleased with the development, Veral had problems and was not a perfect dude with a perfect cock capable of swooning his mate at first glance. No. He is flawed, and he actually grows throughout the story. I like him very much. Terri is a force of nature herself, she is strong and easily bored. She is kind of helpless while confronting other alien races but Veral had just the thing to help her with that. I really liked their development, I really liked the story in general. But it was not a 5-stars story for me, it's a strong 4-stars. Disclaimer: I'm way more critical with my ratings (one of the things I evolved while reading a shitton of books). And I just wanted to say that while this book is a 4-stars, when I give other 3-stars it doesn't mean they're bad. They just lacked the thing to make it a 4-stars. Just like this one lacked the thing to make it a 5-stars. I also will try to put trigger warnings of the book on my reviews.

Again I really don't like the book covers of this series- they look like a manga cartoon or and i cannot equate the image i have of veral with that on the cover. Overall a good read.interesting plot though at times I felt it was silly. Like when veral locked them in the med bay why didn't he just stay there with terri, or leave her safely there whilst he went and killed the pirate captain? It didn't make sense at all and is why I've deducted a star. A few times veral could have gotten them out of Again I really don't like the book covers of this series- they look like a manga cartoon or and i cannot equate the image i have of veral with that on the cover. Additionally with all the technology on their 3 ships not one had the tech to move or raise the ship so they could enter safely the princes vault? Ergo drain the water thereby killing the two shark type creatures. So they left a princes fortune in the ship and no one thought of another way to retrieve it or the tech? Didnt make sense. Still enjoyable though frustrating with the aforementioned.

In this second book in the series Terri and Veral get into a pirate trap. The pirates take them hostage and use Terri as a thread for Veral to do what they want. Together they fly to an abounded planet to search for a treasure. Once again I loved this. I love the dedication that Terri and Veral have for each other. I love how thick headed Terri is and that with that she makes bad decisions. It’s basically on her that they fall into the pirates trap. I really enjoyed this book. Veral's development was done so well, his progression and love made me weak in the knees. The adventure was thrilling, and I thought the suspense in this book was even better than the first one. I also love that I got to read more about Veral and Terri and see them take on space together and grow closer and more in love. I loved the secondary characters especially, the pirate and the half breed child really added to the experience I got from reading the book. S J Sand I really enjoyed this book. I hate books like these I hate series that feature the same couple. I really,REALLY do. One book is enough, then i want to move on to another set of characters. But THIS!?! Amazingly Good Sequel It's rare to find a second book featuring the same two main characters that is just as good as the first, but this was it. 2.5 stars? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Tbh, I don't know what I was expecting when I didn't really care for or really remember the first one. Wait, I know. I was expecting some alien romance, but what I got instead was a treasure hunt that felt like it dragged on for too long. This book is definitely more sci-fi than romance and even though there are a couple of sex scenes, I ended up being disappointed. Considering the low rating and that I skim read some parts, I won't be reading the next book in this series, tho 2.5 stars? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Tbh, I don't know what I was expecting when I didn't really care for or really remember the first one. It just gets better and better If you loved Veral and Terri's story in Broken Earth, this book is for you! Things have changed. Terri is pregnant, Veral is learning to be more "human", and they are on the run. It seems Veral is not supposed to have feelings and is now wanted. This story is compelling and rich with new worlds and characters. You will be so engrossed it will feel like you are there! And yes, it's ok to hate the bad guy! This book is a continuation of Veral and Terri’s story. Terri is now living with him aboard his salvager. They have plans to go do a salvage mission, but a rescue mission interrupts. One of their enemies becomes an unlikely ally. I loved that about this book! I also love how attentive and loving Veral is to his mate. Pirate’s Gold is a major adventure with some brilliant plot points. Sometimes I find sequels boring, but this one is anything but! 4 stars

Favorite book from this author I loved this book, I love the interaction between Terri and Veral, he's so grumpy and stern but sweet towards her. I read this book in one sitting and loved it, the only reason I gave it four instead of five stars is I had to skip past some of the more horror-centric scenes. There was a warning about the violence but I really liked the first one in this series so I was willing to look past it. Love love love it. I really was not considering reading this book because I saw it was a continuation from the first book, by the way love the first book, but I'm so happy I did, this book had me at the edge of my seat, who will did next? the description of the creatures, and the love between the main characters, I will definitely recommend this book to my fellow readers, wonderful read from start to finish. I actually pre ordered the audible version of this, but couldn't wait. I'm not sure what has attracted me to these books. The two I've read are really good, but it's not like they're the best thing I've ever read (although, I find myself enjoying most everything Sanders writes) I think it's the loyalty the main characters showcase towards one another. Or perhaps the world and character building. I don't know, but these books have something that draw me and keep my interest. I actually pre ordered the audible version of this, but couldn't wait. The was a great continuation of our beloved characters Veral and Terri. Rescuing what was thought as stranded travelers on the way to a salvage turned into something else between deadly creature and one of their enemies will our lovable couple survive?
