When Sebastian Crow is found murdered in his secluded cottage on Crow Island, it seems like an open and shut case of a burglary gone wrong. That is, until Dr. Kerry Dearborne arrives. With a ghastly murder scene, no weapon and every access locked from the inside, her gut tells her there’s something more to this murder. To find the answer, Kerry delves into the private life of a reclusive man who seems to have had more enemies than friends in the small town of Lake Pines. As both the police department and his family members push her to quickly close the case, Kerry interrogates possible suspects and examines Sebastian’s life. She soon uncovers a sinister picture of his hidden life putting only more questions in her path. Before time runs out, Kerry must catch the killer. Because if her instinct is correct, the murderer is ready to claim another victim.

Murder of Crows, is the third book in the thrilling Lake Pines Mystery series, which is my favourite book so far by this author. The twists in the plot are bountiful, and complex, which makes it a page turner. Nothing is ever as open and closed as it appears to be, there is always a depth to the suspense conjured up in Abbott’s books. The twists in the plot are bountiful, and complex, which makes it a page turner. Nothing is ever as open and closed as it appears to be, there is always a depth to the suspense conjured up in Abbott’s books. As the victims start to pile up in this small sleepy town, Dr. Kerry Dearborn has her hands full and the reason she left Montreal begins to surface and naw at her soul, but Kerry is a strong woman who is great at her job as the local coroner. You can’t keep a strong woman down. Again, as with all of her books, the author is a master in the whodunnit saga with surprises that the reader cannot see coming. A well crafted mystery, with strong characters and a great storyline. The mystical crows are around when danger lurks in the darkness.

My favorited book so far this year! Abbott know how to add the right plot twists at the right time leaving you turning the pages till the end. Great book.

Not the best crime book I’ve ever read but not the worst. A simple cop drama/murder mystery. A good beach read, if you’re lucky, or a solid bath read. It felt like watching an episode of any basic cable cop show.

Another quick read in this series. Lots of red herrings, same formula as the first two. Moving on to the fourth!
