An Unlikely Proposal by Toni Shiloh is a fabulous modern-day marriage of convenience story. Often novels with this trope, especially in contemporary storylines, seem unrealistic, but Toni Shiloh reveals convincing reasons why the two best friends should marry and creates a delightful tale that readers are sure to enjoy. Omar’s adorable young daughters and their toddler antics add humor into the story, while Trinity’s health issues are realistically portrayed. I have a certain fondness for marriage of convenience stories but it isn't often that a contemporary romance featuring this trope can fully draw me in because it just seems so unbelievable in the 21st century. Best friends for years, they have supported each other through some tough situations and they adore each other in a platonic, I-don't-want-to-do-life-without-you kind of way. Then they get married and their world suddenly shifts as they try to navigate a new kind of relationship. It takes them a while to figure out that falling in love doesn't have to mean the end of a beautiful friendship. Happy, happy sigh. I'm all smiley faced and warm fuzzy-ed up. :-) The girls are hysterical in the way only toddlers/preschoolers can be. Sunny smiles one moment, petulant pouts the next. And what an adventure Trinity has adjusting to their 24/7 care. I went from snort-laughing to "ahhhhh!" tears in nanoseconds. I so appreciate the depth in the inspirational thread. This hero and heroine live out their faith, especially when it comes to prayer. I chuckled/cringed over Omar who had a tendency to tell God exactly how he wanted things to go because I'm prone to do that. Better not to leave a conversation with God open-ended 'cause He might just lead you somewhere you don't want to go. :-) A brilliant mix of funny and poignant.

"But what I can control are my own actions. How I love every person God's placed in my life. How I share that love with the time He's allotted me." So when they start their "marriage", they know each other so well that things seem to fall into place naturally, until their hearts start wanting more than just friendship and mutual help for each other's dire circumstances. Omar's grief for his deceased wife and fear of his newly discovered feelings for his best friend are very real, as are Trinity's fear of rejection after being abandoned at the altar and her blossoming love for Omar and his daughters. This book IS NOT your typical Love Inspired book (of which I will admit to reading ... almost everyone published). I had to do a double check of the page count with this one honestly. Toni Shiloh managed to fit SO much depth of character, layered background, and faith based elements that I was enamored of the book from the beginning and scratching my head wondering how something so marvelous could come out of such a tiny package! I loved the plot, a true friends-to-lovers/ girl-next-door/ marriage of convenience story that I have.. uhem already reread. I loved Omar's little ones that Toni Shiloh filled with life and love. Plus, I really enjoyed the circumstance that Toni Shiloh put Trinity and Omar into! Great chemistry and awkwardness between the two of them. Overall, one of my favorite reads ever in terms of modern character development and storyline. A definite 5 star read you DO NOT want to miss! *I volunteered to read this book in return for my honest feedback. The thoughts and opinions expressed within are my own.

I have also enjoyed seeing the dynamics of how a couple learns to not just honor their spouse but to love them as well. So, naturally, I was very curious to see how Toni Shiloh would handle this... As I have come to expect from her stories, An Unlikely Proposal had a strong focus on spiritual issues Trinity and Omar faced. How can you really know what God's will is when it is related to something that isn't clearly spelled out in the Bible? I loved that they sought older, respected people in their lives for insight instead of just jumping in and doing what they thought was best. And I especially loved that Omar's relationship with his former father-in-law was so close and that they respected each other as they did. I especially appreciated that the way the focus was on the loneliness Omar and Trinity experienced as a married-in-name-only couple and on their relationship instead of a growing physical attraction. It was made clear, without stating it outright, that there was a bond that grew from friendship to a deeper kind of love. Their journey was fraught with difficulties as they had to navigate a brand-new type of relationship. My heart ached for Trinity, especially, as she tried not to overstep her bounds and yet needed to feel like a wife and not a guest! Omar's daughters added both stress and humor to the story. They were adorable and full of trouble! And instead of making Trinity into an insta-supermom, she struggled with fitting into their lives as they had to learn a new normal and develop a new relationship with her. And, oh, how I laughed at the bath incident!! If you enjoy Christian romance, do consider An Unlikely Proposal. Originally Reviewed on Among The Reads I was given a copy of this book. Well developed characters, with a believable situation, and I admired the fact that both Omar and Trinity took their vows seriously and were in it for the long haul. I liked how supportive the towns people were of their relationship, I liked that the Fire Chief encouraged Omar to spend more time with his wife, and how Trinity's mom was so excited to be a grandmother. Overall, a highly enjoyable romance of convenience and I loved that they were friends first, had strong faith and were committed to their relationship no matter the outcome. I pre-ordered this book five months in advance. That’s how excited I was for new content from this author, and she did not disappoint! I’ve only read a handful of books with this factor, so it’s always a delight to find one. One major aspect of the T1D sideplot didn’t quite seem to line up, but the rest seemed carefully researched and honest. I absolutely love the banter between the main characters. They have such a wholesome, amazing friendship, and right away I could feel that they had known each other for years. I was definitely rooting for them to become more. <3 Trinity was a fantastic character, and I loved how much she threw herself into motherhood and caring for the girls. Her struggles with fear and letting herself love hit me hard. I went into this book expecting trope-y cuteness and got all of that + a good dose of spiritual truth I was needing. ;) My only complaint is that sometimes the internal dialogue got pretty repetitive, but that was just a small downside compared to the goodness that was this book. ;) Definitely a perfect Valentines’ read. <3 Quotes… “But what about us? How will we keep in touch?” “Funny thing.” He paused. “There’s this technology that allows you to video chat. Your face will pop up in this screen right here on my phone.” “On a phone? Get out.” His body shook with his laughter. “That’s right. And my face will appear on yours.” “You’re pulling my leg.” “I’ll pull your hair if you’re not careful.” Traveling with kids seemed to require a lot of time and extra baggage. Every time she was out and passed another mom, she couldn’t help but give a head nod in solidarity. They’d packed the kids for an excursion and were battle ready. CW: deaths prior to the story, medical emergencies, one character is a firefighter.

This fun modern marriage of convenience story will warm your heart, especially with the toddlers in the story. Talk of death, walking through Type 2 Diabetes and dangers of firefighting are not things this book shies away from, but in a tasteful manner, you will enjoy every page and feel like it was a much longer book than it is.

4.5 Stars This is Toni Shiloh's first book with Love Inspired and she knocked it out of the park. This is a sweet "friends to more" marriage of convenience story with two precious little girls as side characters. I love that Shiloh is unapologetically Christian in her writings and enjoy the dialog that her characters have with the God who can help them on their lives' journeys. I look forward to reading more of Shiloh's novels in the future. 4.5 Stars This is Toni Shiloh's first book with Love Inspired and she knocked it out of the park. 5 stars. This was a powerful story of love. I’m not crazy about the best friends to lovers trope but this is probably the best that I’ve read. I loved it that much. Omar is a widow and the father of two toddlers. Trinity just recently lost her job and in turn, her health insurance. She’s a Type-1 Diabetic. Omar needs someone to help care for his girls, Trinity needs health insurance so he proposes marriage. Watching them develop feelings and then try to work through those feelings was absolutely beautiful. Omar especially really had to learn that loving Trinity was not a betrayal to his deceased wife or her memory. It was just so good. Both characters are incredibly likable and felt so real. They had great chemistry and their love story was so satisfying to read, especially when we get to the lovely epilogue. I can’t say enough good things about this book. Omar is recently widowed with two adorable toddlers who need a loving caregiver while he works. Trinity, recently jilted at the altar, has decided that a marriage with no expectations other than caring for each other and his kids (while providing for her medical needs) suits her just fine. She has no desire to risk being hurt again. Omar is still missing his late wife, so it works for him, as well. Being best friends is a great way to start off a marriage. Respect, admiration and caring borne of deep friendship goes a long way when dealing with day to day issues. But is it enough? What about love? Romance? Will they miss those? Or will their promise to themselves to remain just friends give way to a love neither thought they wanted? Their story is tender, funny, well-paced, and believable. It will definitely will be on my list of favorite re-reads. I received a copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I also loved that in addition to the blissful moments Toni didn't shy away from showing us the realities, struggles, and challenges that can arise when the hero and heroine go from being best friends to being a married couple living together with two small children literally overnight, it felt so real, was brilliantly written, and I loved it! Trinity and Omar were excellent characters who became like friends to me, my heart went out to each of them for the pain and heartbreak they had each experienced, and I was cheering for them to fall in love! As a proofreader myself, I notice grammar stuff, but I didn't see a single one in this book! The only thing I wish was different was the epilogue. Though I see why it was done, it felt a little bit like moving backward. I wish the announcement had been the only big thing. Other than that, it was the best read! I'm going to read it again, for sure! Favorite quotes: “Marriage to Omar wasn't something she wanted to entertain, but the idea held so many pros. Plus, there was no risk of her heart being engaged. In a way, it was like a safety net that would protect her from the pain of love. The irony of it all.” (p. 27) “Omar shook his head. Trinity was his wife, which meant he hadn't done anything wrong, but boy, his mind thought differently.” (p. 87) “I feel like a seesaw going back and forth between attraction and dread. If I could just settle on one... Not that she wanted to dread love. More like she needed to be okay if it didn't happen. Like she was before they'd had midnight swing rides and deep stares.” (p. 128) “Tomorrow would be fun. [scene end] Bowling with two competitive people was not fun.” (p. 162) “Later, when he was home, he'd think about this newfound information and wonder what to do with it. For now, he'd pretend like nothing earth-shattering had just happened.” (p. 171) “Why did his upper body feel like an anvil had been dropped on him? Poor Wile E. Coyote.” (p. 187) (I received a copy for free from the author. I was not compensated for this review. All opinions are my own, as was the decision to write this review.)

I was super excited to read this book because I always find marriage of convenience stories super sweet and enjoyable. And I have to say, An Unlikely Proposal was an amazing book! Trinity Davis never expected to find herself in a marriage of convenience to her best friend, Omar Young, but that is where she found herself. Omar Young wasn’t looking for love, however his girls need someone to care for them and he needs help. Omar Young wasn’t looking for love, however his girls need someone to care for them and he needs help. Will Omar and Trinity be able to make their relationship work or will they stay in a marriage of convenience? Trinity had suffered through a horrible break up, she didn’t want to risk her again. But then her best friend suggests marriage, she finds herself in a totally different situation. I liked Trinity, I thought that she was so sweet. I loved how much she cared for Omar and for his girls. She had diabetes, and it was really affecting their life. She had learned how to care for herself, but she needed the insurance to pay for her insulin. Omar was a great guy, I loved reading about his care for his daughters. He was a strong firefighter but he was also grieving. He had lost his wife a couple of years ago, and now he finds his mother-in-law gone. He needed the help to care for his girls, Faith and Joy. However Omar really cared for Trinity, and it was sweet to see it grow into love. Omar and Trinity were a lovely couple and I really liked how they were friends first. Their love grew from friendship to something more. They had to work through their past hurts, in order to actually make their marriage work. I loved Omar’s daughters, they were so sweet and cute. I also liked Rock, he was so steady and a stronghold for Omar. I found An Unlikely Proposal awesome! I loved the characters. They had to work on their relationship, and go to God for guidance. I would definitely recommend this book! I can’t wait to see what else she writes. An Unlikely Proposal was a sweet, Christian, clean read! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.

Omar marries Christine but Christine passes away. Now Omar is left with two daughters to raise which can be difficult for a firefighter's work shift. Trinity finding out her freshman year in high school she had diabetes she kept her health to herself. So, in our days where do you hear a "marriage of convenience" These two best friends needed each other. One for looking out for his daughters and the other to keep her treatment of insulin provided to her. It was a very sweet story that is different in this time in age, but still holds the Friendship, Trust and Love between two friends that will help and care for each other. I enjoyed how the story between them grew from what they expected or wanted. It made their friendship bloom into the Marriage that was to become from when they said "I DO" Together they faced everything that came at them, which I think made them stronger in their relationship. Even when it didn't make sense how they didn't see that. It was sweet to read a story that usually is in the past now in the present time. And Author Toni, did a great format in putting strong subjects in the story as loved ones passing, health, work, friendship and family and molded into this sweet story of love can conquer all, in these case True Friendship and Trust in God can see you through. Always enjoy a story were God's Love and message is combined into the story. A story that you will enjoy to read. And a relationship that became what it was meant to be ... A Family. With God's guidance you can what you may think won't work is the best thing for everyone. I can't wait to read another story from her. And I recommend you get your copy of it soon. Received a Complimentary Copy for my Personal and Honest review.

Especially when the only vow they’re in danger of breaking is their promise to not fall in love… 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧 Have you read a book that got you so emotional? This is one of those books for me. I cried a good many times. It’s both a marriage of convenience and friends to lovers tropes. I also want to point out that the cover is beautiful. It speaks volumes of what a loving family looks like. Omar and Trinity have been friends since he was seven years old. Faith and Joy are adorable. Trinity is amazing with them and like she said, they are easy to love despite all the drama they create. I love how this book promotes appreciation to all moms out there. It’s not easy but it can also be rewarding. I like reading how Trinity and Omar struggle with their fears. Trinity was jilted at the altar and is afraid to love again. Omar’s fears of losing a loved one is so great that he is not willing to put his heart out there. I love each of their POV’s and how they continue to pray during their times of anxiety about their new situation. I would love to see Trinity in that red dress by the swing. This story has humor and a heart. I’d love to read a story about Jalissa and Rider. That will be fun! Rock is like a second father to Omar. That moment at the hospital with him and Omar was a tear jerker. I love it. His wisdom and advice are on point. We all go through ups and downs in life but we just have to trust God to lead us through. We have to trust Him on how and when He answers our prayers. 5 stars Thank you to the @justread and the author for the complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

Once again Toni Shiloh has written a lovely, faith-filled novel that everyone will love! I'm not going to pull any punches. It's actually one of the things that makes Toni a favorite author of mine! As for the characters and storyline, I really liked the contemporary setting of a marriage of convenience. Trinity and Omar are best friends from childhood as well as adults so they are totally going into this having through through and prayed over the idea! Best laid plans though... It was great watching Omar and Trinity try to find their feet as a family of four. We also get to see what's running through their minds as they examine their new roles and how they fit together. They both have hurts that they're working through as they start this platonic journey of marriage and family. The author makes it easy to see how difficult the transition is not just for them, but also for Omar's girls. I really appreciated the people around them who supported them... Rock, Omar's father-in-law and both of Trinity's parents. Trinity's dad gave me some good chuckles. I also loved the looks Jalissa gave Omar! Ha! She's the kind of gal I want in my corner. This was a quick read and a very sweet and poignant story that was heavily (thankfully) infused with faith! Don't miss out on Toni's newest story! *I received the ebook for review. This is my personal opinion.

A modern day marriage-of-convenience story!? Um, yes please!!! Oh am I glad Toni Shiloh has written this story. It's easy to find a MOC story in historic times, but if modern ones can look like this, I'll take more please! First of all, Shiloh always writes characters that I absolutely love. Trinity and Omar are flawed, hurt individuals that happen to me in some tough spots. But also best friends like forever! I love that aspect of the story for the record. Continuing on.... they really need each other and don't even realize it. They love each other and don't even realize it. But I did lol. And that's what I love about this book - their realization and growth of friendship to more was so subtle, so realistic, that even I believed it. Most MOC stories seemed forced to me. Almost like the author puts certain situations that are not realistic at all just to make the characters fall in love. Not the case here. Their love for each other grows slowly, genuinely, and really in a touching way. Now let's not forget the stars of the book - Omar's kids. They are so gosh darn cute and steal quite a few scenes I might add. But they add a layer of depth to the overall story line. Yes Omar is suffering after the loss of his wife, but we get to see the kid's part of that too, and I really think it brings so much more to the story. And while it isn't necessarily told from the kid's POV, you still get that in the narration of their scenes. There were several scenes that just melted my heart. This book has all the feels, and honestly I hope that Shiloh brings us more of these types of stories. I know this reader will love them! I highly recommend this book for contemporary romance fans. It will hit you in all the right places :) I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I don't know about you, but when I hear that a book talks about a 'marriage of convenience', my mind tends to go to historical fiction. After all, that's not something we hear much about these days, is it? When I read the description of An Unlikely Proposal, I was intrigued by the idea by a modern day marriage of convenience story. In this story, we meet best friends Trinity and Omar. Trinity has lost her job and much needed insurance, something that as a diabetic, she couldn't afford to lose. In this story, we meet best friends Trinity and Omar. Trinity has lost her job and much needed insurance, something that as a diabetic, she couldn't afford to lose. Omar had lost his wife a few years earlier, followed by his mother-in-law (and source of childcare) more recently. While his suggestion that getting married could help them both out seemed a little crazy at first, the more they thought about it the more it didn't seem like such a bad idea. What could be better than a life with your best friend? They soon find out that marriage truly does change everything... In addition to the idea of marriage of convenience stories, I also always appreciate a good friends to romance story too. There's just something about the history that makes you root for the romance all that much more! That was certainly the case in this story. I loved their easy chemistry and seeing it go from just friends to something more. Truly, it was hard not to fall in love with these characters...and Omar's daughters too! It was a quick read and enjoyable too. If you enjoy a good inspirational romance, this is definitely one to check out. **I received a complimentary copy of this book for consideration. All thoughts are my own.
