Decent story, but the whole plot of the main character hates magic because it was used to kill her parents was way overdone, even to the point of her at one point saying how much she hated magic when she lived back in her home town. Considering she left that town three days after her parents were killed, that just doesn't ring true, and made me a bit irritated with the author for getting something like that which is supposed to be a central theme to the story so completely wrong. (This is why proofreading is important). There was also a point where the main character claimed another character saved her life (twice). Unless I fell asleep while reading the book, there was no second occurrence of that particular feat, so once again, poor proofreading comes to the fore. Despite these issues, it's a pretty good story, and if you're a magic fan, this book will probably suit you just fine.

A nice addition to the Age of Magic I am always eager to read ANY new books in the AOM, and Michael has a talent for finding GOOD new authors, so I was excited to read this one. It was a good storyline. For some reason the beginning didn't suck me in quickly, but once the wolf attacked, I couldn't wait to see what happened next. My only complaint would be the over use of the word whine. EVERYBODY whined. They didn't whimper, groan, snort, huff or any other verb. But, a good thesaurus will fix tha A nice addition to the Age of Magic I am always eager to read ANY new books in the AOM, and Michael has a talent for finding GOOD new authors, so I was excited to read this one. Honestly, for a first EVER completed book, it was good! I am truly looking forward to the next one and the opportunity to give Peter a five star review.

Great start! Another new Age of Magic series! I love it! Fantasy and sci-fi are my two favorite genres, so having both set in the same universe makes me happier than I can say. I’m thrilled that Michael Anderle has brought YET ANOTHER author into the KGU excites the hell out of me, and this first book certainly doesn’t disappoint! I’m writing this review quickly, so I can immediately download the 2nd book in the series, and hope the third is coming out soon! I love Sariah and look forward to her Great start! Great Debut I enjoyed the story and getting to know the new characters. I was surprised and a bit disappointed that Padron did not go on the journey with Sariah, Harvey, Gabe and of course Bear, I really like the rearick with their fierce attitudes in combat and their playful banter with friends. Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing how far Sariah will get with her training in using magic as well as weapons, how much more we'll learn about Gabe and his last and how much more Harvey will grow int Great Debut I enjoyed the story and getting to know the new characters. Just an Ordinary Girl It is good to have a main character that doesn't do everything right but sort of bumbles her way through life. Sariah is likeable but has her flaws, mostly stubbornness. I love how Bear is drawn more to her than to his master Gabe. I am looking forward to Sariah learning how to do more with her magic. Somehow I think she will keep trying to destroy the Dusk Ravens even though they are why out of her league. I can't wait to read more. A decent beginning. Good characters and premise. Sariah needs a bit of work as her manner is a bit too abrupt and off-putting. Also, parts of the story were too much like being told a story if that makes sense. I wasn't able to submerse myself in the plot like I generally tend to do. The author is probably just learning his craft. There was a lot of repetitiveness is his writing. He likes using the same descriptors, "mangy cur" and the heroine "whined"' a lot. His words. I will not be reading more of this series as it moves slowly and I skipped paragraphs because they didn't move the plot along. The author is probably just learning his craft. A good beginning It’s a good beginning, a little rough in spots, but overall a good job. A sixteen year old girl is not easy to portray, or understand especially one as headstrong as Sariah. It’s a little ironic that as much as she despises magic, she’s naturally gifted with the ability to use and learn.

Disappointed in the character’s . Story line isn’t bad. The characters are not very likable. The Sariah character is the worst childish, petty, rash, selfish and not much depth to her, like i said really bad. The dog Bear and Harvey have more depth and are the most likable of the characters. Going to get the next in the series, hoping the characters get more likable.

Great new Age of Magic Series Another great addition to the Age of Magic. A brash heroine who has determination even though she doesn’t yet know her own strengths and abilities with friends who can see her potential. An adventure to enjoy!

I wanted to strangle her constantly Whiny and smug - two of my least favorite characteristics in a protagonist. I made it through 3/4ths of the book and had to throw in the towel. Pity because I typically enjoy Amberle collaborations.

It is different I found that this story was rather unique as are most age of magic stories. They take on an interesting life of their own. Sariah seems like she will be an interesting character.

Totally new Heroes and Villains covering a new location of Irth. We have an interesting perspective this time in that Magic's constraint is imposed by our Hero herself, will she work through her issues with Magic's use? This book was VERY well written. It is encompassing, and I couldn't put it down without having it be constantly on my mind. If you are thinking about reading this book, go ahead and get it. You will not be disappointed. Sariah, the main character, is a very feisty and hilarious character in this book. This book was VERY well written. A new heroine Sariah was minding her own business, eking out a living, when her whole world was turned upside-down. I greatly enjoyed reading about Sariah. A well-written tale and I look forward to the next book in this series.

The premise had potential.  It's the story of a girl that is working on a mine, in a world where magic exists.  She despises magic, but find herself involved with it after discovering some jewelry in the mine.  That ends up with her being targeted and her family dead, so she embarks in a quest for revenge, despite having no idea what she is doing.  She is the kind of person that won't allow anyone to get in her way and that makes others follow her.   (view spoiler)[She finds a magic user to help The premise had potential. (view spoiler)[She finds a magic user to help her, someone that is only helping her because he wants her as his apprentice, but she is "resistant" to perform magic and keeps refusing until the moment her gift is needed, and oh, surprise! she is way more talented than anyone could have expected. Great first book Couldn’t tell this was the Author’s first published book. Would love a map like we have in the Arcadian series Age of Magic books.
