A fairly comprehensive intro book for YA lit. The problem is that by trying to cover so much ground, the book ends up leaving out so many extremely important theoretical moments that this could only be used for beginners. A fair effort, but frustrating for all but those absolutely new to the field.

Solid if basic, for preservice or as a great reference for titles and criteria for experienced teachers and a possible mind or attitude changer for veteran teachers whose minds can open to the power of YA lit.
