If I may, I would humbly suggest that you set aside enough time with this book so that you may simply fall into, and get lost in, its pages: that first time to enjoy the stunning images crafted by Kit Sora and then again, a second time, to take in the words inspired by, and created for, these works of art. So much has gone into its creation and you can feel the passion at your fingertips, from both photographer and authors. This book is gorgeous. The photos are amazing (all done with real effects!), and I love the out-takes & behind the scenes photos that are included. The stories are wonderful and a great addition to the photos.

A book of remarkable images and vision, stories of dark shadow, burning light, and embers shimmering with passionate imagination. A fine book to show off or horde to oneself with warm cups of wonder and snacks of great delight.

Photography 5/5, Stories 2.5/5 to 3/5. Hence 4/5 rating. Edit: Changed it to 3/5 overall. I'm still telling people how bad the shorts were over a month later. This makes for a really beautiful coffee table book. The photos are stunning. But the stories are a mixed bag with none standing out as anything particularly worthwhile except Victoria Barbour's Native Animals. I might not have been so harsh in my opinion except the book opens terribly with Kate Robbins' Summer of Two Sons. The weak open tai Photography 5/5, Stories 2.5/5 to 3/5. Hence 4/5 rating. I might not have been so harsh in my opinion except the book opens terribly with Kate Robbins' Summer of Two Sons. The weak open taints the rest of the shorts. Also, I am of the open that short stories have to be extremely powerful or gripping. Such a low word count means every word must count and there's a lot that don't. My favourite photo is page 98. BTW I have hired Kit Sora as a photographer and she is so much fun to work with. Very enthusiastic and does amazing work. If she every released a book solely of images then I'd 100% recommend that.
