She stresses the significance of what it means to have women in tech positions, especially women of color, when men now predominantly govern this field. This step-by-step guide informs readers of various tech positions, pros and cons of working in this field, revenue potential, and the value of having a support system in place—in any career field. The author also provides various informational resources readers can utilize. Opinion: The author does an excellent job of laying the foundation for what women can expect should they choose a career in tech. She has conducted thorough research and includes personal advice from individuals currently in the field. Providing readers with such insight is a plus, because the information is varied and not one-sided. Readers not only have the benefit of learning about the author's firsthand experiences in the tech field, but also advice and tips from others who have worked in technology. While this is great, the only element of the book that is an issue involves grammatical errors present throughout the book.* *Note: This reviewer was provided an uncorrected proof and not a final version of Women in Tech: A Blueprint for Inspiring and Mentoring the Next Generation of Technology Innovators.

I personally couldn't extract a lot of value from this book as it is geared towards women or anyone starting off their careers in Technology. It has a good survey of possible areas in technology that people can direct themselves to when making a choice. If you are a person just starting off in a profession where you can't find a lot of colleagues who you can relate to, its good to have some structured advice. It would make a great addition to school or university libraries.
