This is one of the best books I have read this month and I would say this is a very different book I have ever read. This is a story of Tania Seth, who has a rare gift which enables her to see the visions of people's past life when they sing their favourite song. This might seem like a very interesting power and gift to some readers but in real she is really living a complicated life because the visions that she sees are not positive and causes lot of stress and anxiety to her. This might seem like a very interesting power and gift to some readers but in real she is really living a complicated life because the visions that she sees are not positive and causes lot of stress and anxiety to her. She feels that if she is gifted with these special powers and is connected to Beings of Light then its her responsibility to help people in their current life. Her family is very supportive and protective of her. On the metro one day, when an anonymous man hums a tune, she witnesses the tragic events of his previous birth on a mysterious island. She sees visions related to Advaita ( lover of Maya) and Brijraj. Maya and her unborn child is killed by Brijraj in that life. But in current life, Advaita seeks revenge. She didn't see the man's face on the metro and knows nothing about him. She doesnt know how she will find Advaita, Maya and Brijraj in this current life and how she will be able to help them? But she is sure about one thing- she has to stop this man from committing a horrendous crime. There are other secondary characters in the book like Alejandro, Zeo, Yogini who plays an important role in helping Tania complete her purpose. She tries to search for him, but it isn't easy at all as the demons from her own painful past come back to haunt her. It's tiring and complicated to bring a difference in other people's life while maintaining her own mental peace. While solving this puzzle of past and current life, she discovers that nothing is really as it seems. She tries to grow her powers through meditation. To know will she be able to find him before it's too late, you'll have to grab and read this book. WHAT I LOVED THE MOST ABOUT THIS BOOK: 1. Even imagining my life as of hers makes me feel so burdened, so I really loved how Tania kept herself motivated all through her difficult journey. This is what makes it an exciting and interesting read. 2. Secondly, readers can read and learn so many important life lessons from this book while enjoying the extraordinary tale of Tania.

Although she was unable to see his face nonetheless she is determined to stop him. Tania will have to venture out of her safety and put forth the propounding ideas to extricate an innocent family. However, fighting the evils for another person will unleash her demons and a series of bad memories that were buried deep in her mind. And she will willing to risk everything even if that means taking assistance from a stranger who appears to know about her secret gift. It seems that this will a turning point in her life and yet far more perilous.   Will she be successful this time? Can Tania finally let go of fears and rescue the innocent lives as well as liberate herself of her memories?   A well- written plot that kept me glued to the very end. I was not expecting a romance element but it was a pleasant surprise. There were a lot of other characters who later on played a significant role in Tania’s life. I am hoping the author writes a sequel to this book although there wasn’t a massive cliffhanger at the end still I hope she at least adds one more book.

The plot becomes even more intriguing when Tania finds a man who is planning to murder a person because of a tragic incident in their previous life. Another twist is that she only heard that person sing, and never saw him. Will she be able to find him and stop him from killing an innocent? . I’m literally awestruck by the theme of this book. It evidently has the power to transport you to another world where people can have visions and everything is set alright following that. Something about this story is very positive. . The title and the cover- Cover picture is awesome and has been made in such a way that it generates interest and curiosity. The title too does not give away all about the story and clearly there is much more to discover. . I think the story just becomes too supernatural to handle when it introduces Beings Of Light and Cosmic entities and all. It does take you to another world but may keep you lost and confused as to what is happening. . Generally I see writers developing their skills with every book. But with this book, I’m totally impressed by the author’s writing style and her narration. It’s hard to believe that it is her debut. I hope she writes more and I get to read better books from her. . Overall, I really enjoyed my days reading this other worldly book. It has given me more thoughts and beliefs about the past lives and connection of souls. There are probably very less things a reader would dislike about it. I, personally, recommend it to all fantasy lovers and readers of supernatural thriller stories.

The character of Tania Seth was a really strongly created one that would keep stealing your attention as you read through it. I knew it was a thriller that I’m picking up but I didn’t know the plot had an element of super-natural to it, with Tania having powers of some kind. They enabled her to witness glimpses of someone’s past life whenever she sings or hums. It was with this power that she witnessed the murder of a man in his past life when she hummed around in a metro. I can go on about the exciting plot but I don’t want to give away the excitement. So, I’ll just let you know that other than her, we meet a lot of other realistic characters as we progress. If you are looking for a thrilling book with superpower element in it, in a way, that hasn’t been done before; this is the book for you.

When someone sings or hums a tune or a song that is close to their heart, her mind automatically gets transported to the memories of that person’s past life. This rare gift of having visions about other people’s past lives is passed on from one generation to the next in her family. This gift is inherited by only the firstborn females in the family. Both she and her mother are the firstborn females in her family and have got this superpower. So, Tanya has been having these visions since the time she was only ten years old. Her mother asks her to promise that she will use her power only for the benefits of others. One day while travelling in Dubai metro, Tania Seth hears an anonymous man hum his favourite tune. This takes her to the moments of that person’s previous birth on a mysterious island. The memories are tragic where his lover is killed by some people. And in this life, he is on a mission to kill the murderers of his lover. However, this is not the right thing to do for him. Because the murderers of previous life might not be doing anything wrong in this life, so he doesn’t deserve to be killed. Also, this will be a crime for that man to murder someone. Tania decides to stop that person from committing a horrendous crime. But she hadn’t even seen the face of that person in the metro and knows nothing about him. In her efforts to find that person, the demons from her own painful past come back to haunt her. She finds that nothing is really as it seems. An engaging and well-narrated book Menaka Ramakrishnan has tried her best to keep the readers engaged until the end. The story has been narrated in a well-structured manner so that things can be understood easily, whether Tania is lost in vision or living her present life. What I liked the most about this book is the concept that is completely unique and interesting. The chapters are short which improves the readability of the book and don’t bore the readers. Even though it is 236 pages, but the story won’t make you feel like you have a lot to read. At some moments in the book, I found myself completely lost in the story where the characters. Menaka has written the scenes of past life really well that they get created in your mind the way the author might have imagined herself. If you are someone who enjoys reading mysteries and thrillers, then this book is should be in your reading list for sure. Even though I mostly read romantic fiction, I’m glad I picked it up.

I am always very interested in reading the next thriller. For me, not only do they give away a sort of thrill and adrenaline rush, but help me understand the complex parts of writing a thriller. But by the end, I was fairly surprised at the imagination and caliber required to write a novel of such sorts. Starting with the story, the plots is focused on Tania Seth, an artist living in Dubai. Just an ordinary girl with a slight secret! Yes, a secret of possessing a supernatural power, passed from generations in her family. A power to see someone's past life whenever someone hums their favorite tune or song. Now, when i first read this, I was indeed a bit confused of the complexity of the nature of the power. But the plot explains and takes it on well. So our protagonist, Tania, tries to help people with her super power. One day, while travelling in a metro, she hears a man humming. Not being able to discern his face, Tania delves into his past life and finds his motive: to murder someone. Alarmed with this information, Tania sets out on an adventure of her own, trying to race against doom and save lives.  The story has good character setups, which is very much an essential party of the plot. They add to Tania's woes, her happiness and her terror alike. We see Tania trying to cope up with her powers and grow substantially as a character. There's a lot more her than what meets the eye.  The narrative, for me, was very simple and easy to understand. I liked the fact that the author didn't unnecessarily try to complicate things just by adding to the plot. The writing was alright for a first attempt. Though, I am looking forward to her growing more through her books. The book ends with a sort of cliffhanger, so a sequel might be a possibility. I recommend this book to those who are looking for a light thriller read for their vacation. Its a perfect companion.

Menaka's 'In This Life Or The Next' was, in a word, spell-binding. I'm an ardent lover of mystery, thriller and crime novels and this one simply took the cake for me. In This Life Or The Next is a fantastic debut novel- the premise keeps you hooked from the beginning. It has many twists and reads like a taut, racy thriller, but most interesting of all- it challenges your pre-conceived notions on a number of things. Menaka has masterfully crafted some valuable insights in the form of a gripping story and I am eagerly looking forward to more from this stable.

First off I loved the cover which breaks the suspense of the rut’s theme it holds and emotional scenes - the weight it carries is the strongest elements that developed in layers. Which is unpredictable from the midpart. I love the pacing as it keeps me waiting to turn the pages after page to find the scenes ahead. Authors narration was lucid which felt as someone drags us into their world and has much more than love and lessons. The plot was quite unpredictable yet events happen quickly not making rounds. Honestly, that’s what makes this book stands out from the crowd and made the readers connect her rich language build from the start to end. All in all, this is an interesting cosmic-touchy kind read as it's raw and refreshing.

The very first chapter immerses the reader in a timeless mystery. The protagonist, Tania, follows a unique approach to piecing together the clues that makes the book an immensely gripping read. I started this book on a flight, and didn’t put it down until I was forced to momentarily do so at the immigration counter when my flight landed! I’d like to see more books of this caliber by debutant Indian authors.

I finished reading this book on a very long airplane ride. In fact, as the ride came to an end I read as fast as I could because I wanted to know what happens next. This is not a book that you will read sporadically. It is one that will draw you in and stay with you until you turn the last page. I loved the little anecdotes and facts about past lives as that is a subject which is very interesting. Really interesting book with many unexpected plot twists - also loved the concept of spirituality defining everything in the story. The characters were unique too and I enjoyed it being based in Dubai (although I’m biased cause I grew up there). Congrats on a spectacular debut!

A continuous flow of imagination kept me hooked on to finish every chapter as soon as possible. I highly recommend this book to readers of all ages. I was quite pleasantly surprised by how the author effortlessly blended supernatural elements with everyday life. Relatable with a mix of faith sets this novel apart from the rest. As an avid reader of non-fiction, I found this novel close to reality as it possibly could be while setting me off to another world altogether.
