Now she’s starring in her own series it’s a joy to discover everything she has kept hidden from the world but secrets about her own heritage have only just come to light and Mari is still left reeling. Mari is what could be called the ultimate weapon with her amazing dragon blood powers but finding out her own mother is the Unseelie Queen who is truly unhinged is throwing up all sorts of issues. For a start there’s the slight ( who am I kidding ?) problem of having a fated Mate in Tarron the Seelie King but with the knowledge that she’s doomed to kill him how is Mari ever going to have a normal relationship with him ? Too bad her mum is determined to obliterate everything good in the world so buckle up Mari because you are about to get thrown out of the pan and into the fire ! Another fast paced plot that delivers a mixture of fantasy and mythology all set amongst historical backgrounds. This isn’t the most amusing book the author has written but I could understand that the threat level is ramped up so much that with Mari at war with her own mother it wouldn’t be appropriate to have too many lighthearted moments. There’s still shocks along the way and things are certainly hotting up between Mari and Tarron . I particularly enjoyed that Mari got to see just how brave and powerful Tarron is but that end has left me bereft and anyone reading this book is definitely going to want more ! This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

It was just ok Didn't really care for this 3rd book as much. Yes, it had action but there was too much other stuff going on that was a distracted me. When they finally got together it was boring and well, they kissed then they woke up the next morning?? Seriously, all that chemistry boiling between them then it was just over in a couple seconds? Lost interest in this series. It was just ok Didn't really care for this 3rd book as much. Yes, it had action but there was too much other stuff going on that was a distracted me. This was a nice read. I liked better the first two because they were a little more credible. Some events here are just not convincing. Like the Unseelie Queen's power, how is it possible to be so great?? I mean she beat everything in her way. I just don't buy it. I hope the next book will shed some light. We'll see. Maybe too much with not enough answers. For instance if the mother is not the true Queen why is she so much stronger than Mari and Tarron combined. I could maybe fall for that... but definitely not stronger than the godesses? That just didnt seem believable to me at all. I may continue the series through at least one more book; however, I may take a break before I do.

Every time a new book by this author comes out, I always say it’s my favorite so far. And, yes, I felt the same this time. Mari really speaks to me for some reason, and I can’t exactly put my finger on exactly why. She’s tough as nails, but still kind and thoughtful. She describes herself with a word that rhymes with witch, and she can be but in a good way, not a bad one. I just love that about her. Out of all the characters I’ve read by this author, I think she’s the toughest. And I like that. Every time a new book by this author comes out, I always say it’s my favorite so far. That is this book. Give this a try; it’s so fun! I highly recommend this book! I was provided the e-book which I voluntarily reviewed.

He tried to throw a potion bomb at her but he kept on missing so he ran away and Mari chased her. She captured him near the firesouls' store and he said that her mother wouldnt stop until she had Mari, unless she came to her herself. Also, he got one last potion which he slammed to her arm, but Mari managed to get it off her sleeve before it touched her skin. However, a tiny amount of it got to her and she saw a vision of the Seelie kingdom in flames and when she regained consciousness, she saw Aeri, Cass, and Burn, along with the dead fae. She tried to find some answer on how to prevent the seelie kingdom from being razed to the ground but the answer involved her killing Tarron. Then she went to Aethelred to ask about her new prophecy magic and he gave her a charm to control it and lead her to the right answer. He also said that if she wanted some insight about her mother, she should find some of her personal belongings or some place that connected her so Mari, Aeri, Tarron, and the firesouls went to the Night Circle again where Mari could touch the stone to find some insights. They were attacked by the unseelies and when Mari touched the stone, she was forced into the fae's realm. At least she found out that her mother planned to use eternal flames to destroy the seelie. Again, they were ambushed but the people who ambushed them seemed to be under her mother's influence. Also, her mother was coming but they managed to escape, even though Mari insisted the six of them could fight her mother. After some healing, Arrowen came and Mari told her about the eternal flames. Arrowen said that the guardian of those flame would be Hestia, Vesta, Bridgid, and Arinitti. They could be found somewhere in Turkey, but the flames wouldn't be on their person, so of course they set out to Turkey. They found a satyr who was the only one who could give them the vision of the past if they want to pass safely, in exchange for a lyre from Tarron and the location of the girl he chased from Mari. The satyr said an evil woman just passed, but he didn't help her because she was, well, evil. They gave what the satyr wanted and they could see a colosseum and some ancient supernatural, but in exchange they could see them too and they hated intruders. They got chased and they flew away. However, the moment they saw the storm, they ran away but Mari and Tarron had to land to got away from the storm. They found the Vesta's Virgin's temple but the virgins there were no longer virgin (it was modern world anyway and it was patriarchy's rule who forced vesta to be virgin). They tried to invite Mari and Tarron to their sex party but they refused because they were on a mission and asked the vestans' (not the virgins anymore) to tell them where the goddess were. So the vestans' told them to go to the pool of truth to tell their intention, but the pool sort of gave Mari a glimpse of the future that she would save both seelie and unseelie (duh -_-). The vestans' approved so they told them to go across the plain but don't stay in there when it was already night because it was dangerous. Instead, they should stay the night in a temple in the middle of other temples and they could set out to find the goddesses in the morning. They crossed and had sex for the night and in the morning, they went through the tunnels but when they got out, they found the place to be under attack by unseelies. They found another temple and saw the four goddesses bound by her mother so Mari attacked her mother, but she got away. Mari tried to destroy their bondage but she got hit by the controlling potion again. Tarron released the goddesses and one of them drove away Mari's desire to go straight to her mother. She said there was antidote but she needed to get some of her mother's blood. The goddesses also told them where the flame was, somewhere in mount chimaera, but for now, she had to get the antidote first from Connor, so the goddess made them a portal there (Mari was not allowed from transporting in case her mother took over and sent her straight to her mother). Connor said she just finished half of the antidote so she could take it first to repress the desire to go to her mother and while they waited for Connor, Mari told Tarron that she was fated to kill him, but he took the news calmly. Aeri came along with an answer: the seelie's court historian. He told them the possible reason why Tarron was stabbed, it was because there was this dagger of royalty, that if imbued with eternal flame would be able to kill both Seelie and Unseelie royalty if stabbed to even only one of them. However, if the royal was stabbed, it would unleashed their magic and suffused the flames. After that, Aeri, Mari, and Tarron went to mount Chimaera, found the shepherd who took them to the top. Along the way, of course they were chased by some fire-breathing goats, faced some lions, some snakes, and the unseelies. They found her mother, who already got the eternal flame inside a crystal and she managed to escape again, not before they got her blood, though. They reconciled with the others and prepared for battle. Connor gave Mari the potion, they all went to the seelie court, where they evacuated the citizens to the sky platform. Then unseelie came, Mari fought her mother, but she still managed to throw the eternal flames and it destroyed the building, and started to make their way up to the sky platform. Wounded, her mother still managed to escape, but Tarron forced her to stab him and it stopped the fire. However, it somehow drained her life too, but in her dying breath, Mari managed to try put some of Tarron's magic back to him.

Fate really has a lot to answer for I mean come on how fair is it to give these two mate status and then they find out one has to kill the other... omg not fair. *SPOILERS* Here's a list of emotions I felt while reading this book (because I seem to love lists) - confused - really, really annoyed - relieved/happy (I'm not really sure why though) The plot felt really similar to the last two. Mari and Tarron were off running errands, speaking with people, fighting off demons, visiting goddesses etc. I'm still not entirely sure whether or not I understand what's going on half the time. Mari and Tarron were off running errands, speaking with people, fighting off demons, visiting goddesses etc. I'm still not entirely sure whether or not I understand what's going on half the time. For example the big reveal at the end; why is Mari more of the true Unseelie ruler than her mother? Can't say for sure whether or not it was explained in the book, but if it was I must've missed it. Some plot points were very inconsistent. I know I thought about small pieces that didn't fit together multiple times throughout the book. If I were to give an example it would be about Mari's blood. So Mari has black blood because she is Unseelie and Aeri did not know that Mari and her weren't fully related because she knew nothing about her Fae heritage. I'm assuming the two of them have seen the other bleed considering their entire magic revolves around their blood. Yet Aeri has never wondered "hmm... That's strange my sister has literal black blood"? (I mean maybe she has but I must've missed it) Now onto Tarron. When him and Mari first met, she was making a potion for him (so she split some of her blood) yet he notice that his mate had Unseelie blood? (which he would know about, being a Seelie Fae himself) Even if he hadn't noticed it before, she has bled multiple times infront of him. And after he finds out about her Unseelie side and sees her spill her black blood he goes "I didn't know you had Unseelie blood" (basically confirms he knew about Unseelie blood being black) Sir? Tf you mean you didn't know? Where have you been? ✨Romance time✨ My favourite part! I'm gonna be honest, it's the only reason I'm still reading the series because I have no idea what has happened in the actual plot. I'm really angry but happy at the same time. So good news, seems like Tarron and Mari are actually building a relationship and establishing trust. I enjoyed reading Tarron's declarations. The lust part however. IM PISSED. We had to endure countless of make out scenes for each of them to be interrupted. And when we FINALLY get to a sex scene, the scene cuts to black before anything can happen. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!? The make out scenes lost their hype and excitement a LONG time ago. The only lust related thing that could redeem the repetition would be a good sex scene. I understand that a book does not need to have smut in order to be good, but when the first heavy make out scene happens five minutes after the love interest meet, the audience kind of gets high expectations. Anyways I guess I might continue but honestly, I'm not sure I'm willing to power through to books in which the only thing I'm interested in is the romance, no matter how quick they may be to read.

I may have almost completely forgotten that this book is still on my "currently reading" list. Oops! Okay so the first two books in the series were page turners, but this one just didn't click with me. I love the fact that it was packed with action and it was pretty much straightforward. Not much fillers and unnecessary scenes which I appreciate. His character seems flat in this book. I really don't care about him anymore. Same goes with Mari's mother. She has to be the flattest villain I've ever read in a book. I feel like more should be at stake here. The ending felt anticlimactic like there's something missing... I don't know. Maybe the author just needs to work on her characterization. I'm not sure if I'll pick up the next book. I mean the series is not that bad. It's actually cool, and I did enjoy reading the first two books but I think my 15 year old self will appreciate this better.

Mordaca rules This is an excellent book, full of action and adventure. One of the things I really enjoy about Ms. Hall’s books are the elements of real history in them and the license she takes to embellish them. In this book she has a lot of fun playing with the Vestal Virgins. So many different traditions and elements are interwoven in this book it is hard to recall them all, but they all work to build the world in which Mari and Tarron must fight to save the Seelie people from destruction. Inconsistency in stories annoy me Love the storyline, and writing. But a major pet peeve is inconsistency in stories that are supposed to be interconnected. As Dragon Bloods they can make new permanent magic separately or together, did they forget some of there magic already? They made themselves a certain permanent magic for a fight with a bad guy that apparently is just gone. Reading the first chapter annoyed me greatly just because of that one oversight.

I am just going to say it. I DON’T LIKE MARI’S ARC. I like the aspects. The characters are intriguing but I pictured her as a lesbian. I was so excited to read her arc. But it just doesn’t fit her. I can’t even bring myself to finish it. This arc feels more predictable and half assed compared to the others so far.

Decent story, fairly well edited. Only part I didn't like is the repeating over, and over, and over again about how the two main characters are falling for each other, but can't due to their respective curses. I don't need to be told about it that many times! I do like this world and the characters other than that. Decent story, fairly well edited.
