7 December, 2019 Unusual. Interesting, but unusual. And different. The beginning of the book was confusing at times; it was as if I’d missed something. But either it became better along the way or I got used to it :-) 21 August, 2020 Pity about the mistakes (even the names got mixed up); it takes the fun right out of reading.

He was going to marry her to Sirius Hayes but he ran off and married a rich woman so her father married her to Lord Ginter. Summer was coming to an end and Lady Pia going to visit her good friend Lady Gillian since her husband the Earl of Gordie had died. Lord Sirius Hayes was his brother heir was now the Earl of Gordie. The questions to be answered when you read the rest of the book are who exactly is Sirius Hayes, who does Lady Pia marry, and what does the Duke of Van Dero have to do with all of this. This is a well written book and an enjoyable read...

Full of love, mystery and plots. I received this Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for a fair and honest review. This was a book full of twists and turns. Lord Sirius Hayes Earl of Gordie is not who he seems. When he meets Lady Pia after the mail coach she was traveling in suffered damage to two wheels. The Earl's personal carriage was not far behind and came across the accident scene. He offers a ride in his carriage to the next town to Lady Pia and another Lady who was stranded with her. Pia harbours a deep resentment of Lord Sirius Hayes from a childhood of knowing him and his two brothers. Adam was his half brother and Pia's childhood sweetheart. They would spend time together climbing trees and playing. Lord Feylor, Pia's father hated Pia for her violet eyes. She was treated poorly and was given to Lord Ginter as his wife. Deborah Wilson has written a fabulous tale which sucks you in and keeps you interested. I loved it and definitely a favourite so far. I feel the tale definitely deserves 5 stars. Enjoy!

Pia has been sidelined by her family and her late husband blamed her for his lapses, leaving her destitute upon his death. Sirius has his secrets and keeping up the facade is taxing his strength and his relationship with Pia. However, it would appear that everyone other than Pia knew about his obsession with her. When his enemies pool their resources to stand against him and his friends, Sirius knows that it is time to come clean with Pia, but doing so might just deprive him of the one thing he needs more than anything else, namely her love.

I simply say that if you like well done stories that respect the characters, run, don’t walk to read this series. Highly Recommended 5/5

So far I have loved all of Deborah Wilson’s books that I have read. This one showed more of the darker side of humanity while at the same time portraying a dark one capable of love. In real life, I believe, you are either good or evil, no in between. Sirius shows he can be both. The love story in this book is almost hard to believe, although I did like the character of Pia, our heroine. She has a good heart and has fallen in love with the public persona of Sirius. He eventually shows her, little by little, his secret life. Also, this book is a little steamier than other books by this author without being ‘over-the-top’ graphic. A few times I was holding my breath and gritting my teeth, but continued reading. I was relieved it didn’t cross the line into full fledge graphic. All-in-all, I enjoyed the story line.

Deborah Wilson's Valiant Love Regency Romance is the greatest series ever; each one seems better than the last. These are hefty books, 600+ pages, a great value at less than a dollar. Why not start at the beginning?

Another story involving the new Duke of Van Dero, this time focusing on one of his “controllers’, Sirius Heys. Under the old Duke, Sirius had managed the bank. Woven through this narrative is a love story that had its beginnings with 2 teens who were torn apart and years later are brought together. They have many hurdles to jump before life smooths put for them. I liked the love story of a young couple separated in their early teens, but who continued to carry a softness for each other.

This is the story of Sirius (Adam) & Pia. It has side characters, also. It was a wonderful story. I love this series (the Valiant Love Series). It's full of good and evil. I loved this story - it was entertaining, full of emotional pulls & Sirius & Pia were a sensual, romantic, wonderful couple. Pia and Sirius This story can tug at the heart strings. It is nicely written with a flow that keeps the reader tuned in to the book and oblivious to their surroundings. Another great historical romance by this author, although these books are all set around the same location and time they are each very individual with surprises throughout. The lead characters are strong people with strong support characters, some which we have met in previous books. I am a details person so would have liked more visual description on the actual clothing people were wearing and on the locations, but that is a personal thing. Can definitely recommend, I eagerly await the next boo Another great historical romance by this author, although these books are all set around the same location and time they are each very individual with surprises throughout. Adam has led a hard life and being a bastard son of an earl doesn’t help. Pia is an Earls daughter but because of her eyes her parents treat her poorly. Her aunt was also shunned by her father and became an actress. When Pia visited her aunt she met Adam and fell in love but her moved away thinking she rejected him and she thought he abandoned her. The plot on this story is quite twisted. Pia asks the new Earl Sirius Hayes to help her as she was once engaged to him. What she doesn't know is that Sirius Hayes is the boy she fell in love with and not the Sirius Hayes she used to know. Just when you think you know one thing the author twists the story so a new interesting tidbit is introduced. The story is compelling and the characters are wonderful. I have enjoyed every book in this series and this is no different. Deborah Wilson has mastered the art of writing characters that you can’t say are “good” but you can’t help cheering for them. Sirius is one of those characters. This story line has so many twists and turns you just have to keep reading. Looking forward to the next book.

I loved this book. It is a deliciously devilish dark romance where the pure heart meets a good but dark heart. There is young innocent love, misunderstandings, death, justice, attempted murders, suspicion and conspiracies. There is plenty of drama and action that will keep you glued to each and every page. You will not get bored. I highly recommend this book.

A very good read. The characters and story were interesting although I didn't realize this was, like, book 11 in the series! This said, it didn't feel historically realistic in terms of the things the Dukes and Earls would be doing, on either side of the conflict. I'd definitely read more from this author...
