Excellent reading I enjoyed very much reading this book. I’m very interested in what happens to us after death. Especially as I age.

One of the more interesting parts of this book for me was the dismantling of scientific theories which 'purportedly' explain (or explain away) NDEs without taking into account an aspect(s) of NDEs that do not fit the theory. Many of these theorists have not interviewed even one NDEer. This is a form of pseudo-scientific blindness, as much so as dogmatic religion. I was left asking, "Why are persons so afraid to admit NDEs may evidence life after death? Would that be a tragedy?" Many of these theorists have not interviewed even one NDEer. This is a form of pseudo-scientific blindness, as much so as dogmatic religion. I was left asking, "Why are persons so afraid to admit NDEs may evidence life after death? Would that be a tragedy?" Yet, NDEs can challenge the assumption of the duality of life-and-death, life and death being concepts derived from slicing up Reality into pieces to make sense of what is always, already whole. A researcher Moody tells of takes this position of life being a continuation, and what we call death is not a death in any cease of cessation. This corresponds with much spiritual teaching, especially from the East - as well as that our essence may be Consciousness. Hence, the concept afterlife may be nonsensical, if there is only life. The author is honest about his view of NDEs being spiritual, and not strictly religious while remaining a scientist throughout the book. As he notes, he believes NDEs can be proven to be evidence of life after death, even if not scientifically proven. I appreciate a doctor who is receptive to admitting all the evidence and not jumping to conclusions that fit her or his preconceived bias against life continuing after 'death.' Is that not what science is supposed to do? This is an enlightening read from a person who has worked diligently to preserve scientific integrity and present the facts and potential outcomes of his research to a wide audience, and giving a safe space for NDEers to share their experiences and all of us an invitation to consider we are more than a piece of meat to soon fade away into oblivion.
