Welcome to the opening volley of a new series. The series chronicles the adventures of Mountain Man Moses Calhounin the western mountains of the United States in the 1860s. I enjoyed an exciting tale of a man fighting the bitter elements of the mountains in winter while saving his skin from both the U.S. Cavalry and the Indians. Moses agreed to take a warning to a friend’s daughter in an Indian camp soon to be attacked by the cavalry. Although I do wish that western authors would express more veracity and understanding for/of the Indians at that time rather than advancing the rhetoric we learned as children. A different narrator might also add some “atmosphere” to the tale. Three.point.five. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Blood on the Mountain was intriguing from beginning to end, with great narration. I look forward to more of Robert Peecher's books on Audible. This first story of Moses Calhoun's adventures had vivid characters set right in the midst of a mountain winter. The locale, the army, the Indians were realistic antagonists in a story of survival. The author's Indian characters were well drawn. Kept my interest throughout, enjoyed very much I downloaded this novel via Kindle Unlimited because the blurb for the audiobook version was so compelling. With winter coming on, this is quite a challenge.

I’m reading this series a bit out of order but, by no means, did it take away from the action and adventure! Thoroughly enjoyed the writing and narration! Looking forward to book 3. I accepted a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Grand story! My first book by Robert Peecher, but not my last. I admit my preference to mountain man stories, so this one struck home for me. Excellent story, excellent character development. Anyone who likes this genre will love this book
