Interesting Twists! *Read in KU* As with the first, I found myself quickly devouring this one! I loved the characters and really enjoy the 'magic' aspects in this version. It's interesting to learn more about the setting and abilities as we get to know the cast more. Deliciously twisty and darkly satisfying! No pressure, of course. This Phantom and Krissy are set in modern times, with a paranormal setting. Touches of the source material persist, but it's a welcome new world, well crafted. The heroine is growing more certain of herself and her strengths, attracted to both Erike and Raul, making geeky references randomly that song to my geeky heart. An example: "...I mean to stop; sink onto a bench hidden in an alcove in the gardens, somewhere secret, buried beneath skeins of honey-drenched star jasmine. I mean to bow my head into my hands and, after everything, cry. But there is a ghost in my soul and a phantom in my thoughts and a missing boy in my past. And so my feet keep going, long after I’ve demanded they stop, and before I know it, I’ve left the grounds. And made my way, utterly lost, toward a completely new world."

Wow, we’ve only just got to the moment Chrissy sings to Erik. If we are following POTO as a story that is a quarter of the way in. I was expecting at least an unmasking by now. I skimmed a bit of this book, the stuff with Raul, a lot of it was filler. But I don’t like Raoul as a character ever so maybe that’s my failing. I got the jist. I am adoring this phantom and the intrigue of just how the ilk became. The stuff in the underground is the most compelling and the end is great. I really hope the next book is Chrissy and Erike doing some serious work together whilst desperately trying to fight the attraction they feel. And then failing momentously. Some really nice writing in here, but I felt it sometimes drags a little. Could maybe do with an edit in some of the later chapters as there are minor spelling mistakes and grammar issues. All in all very enjoyable. But more more more please.

intense the second instalment is very intense. And that cliffhanger... it's kind of minor, sort of. Ok not really. So glad book 3 is out . Still instances of the "f" word. Characters are more defined and we're starting to understand the lies that have been told. Not sure who perpetuates the lies purposefully and who simply believes what they've been told. Hoping the 3rd book will clear that up. intense the second instalment is very intense. And that cliffhanger... it's kind of minor, sort of. Ok not really. So glad book 3 is out .
