Overall I think it was a fitting way to end the series. I was not expecting one particular group to make a power play like that so that kinda was foreshadowed but still surprised me! Every character had their arc fulfilled. I am hoping there are more stories out there but if it ends like this I am well satisfied.

That closing note from Mignola.... yeah that's basically how I've described Hellboy for the last 25 years. It ended exactly as he said it would. You're either tuned into his wavelength or you're not.... it's been so much fun... so much drama and fascinating characters. Abe Sapien as ... what, Christ or some prophet/shaman? Oh yeah can't wait for WHATEVERS next!!!! That closing note from Mignola.... yeah that's basically how I've described Hellboy for the last 25 years. It ended exactly as he said it would. That’s it, the end of the BPRD and Hellboy… I really liked it and found the story and tone very apt, I also enjoyed how all the prophecies tied into the ending and most were actually true. The last few pages were quite emotive and the shift halfway through to Mignola's art was such a great idea. It felt a bit rushed but overall I found this to be an effective and emotional ending. Wow. What an incredible ending to my favorite series of all time. What a bittersweet feeling I'm left with, but I'm satisfied! Hats off to Mignola for 25 years of crafting this incredible narrative and weaving together countless parts into one, final epic. Wow. What an incredible ending to my favorite series of all time. 3.5 Beautiful but rushed and a rather bit cliche. A bit poignant but lacking complexity, and the last arc felt like a checklist lacking character moments and catharsis.

I know I use the word a lot, but this was a really interesting way to conclude the series. I think it’s fitting, but it isn’t how I would expect a story to be concluded. But I like it. I would be interested in seeing any stories in the Mignolaverse that follow this, which was kinda teased in Mignola’s letter at the end of the issue. Definitely would recommend reading Hellboy and BPRD (the side stories may not be for everyone, but if you like the main books I would recommend those too!)
