i read this book as part of an arc program. Matt is a lawyer and best friends with Logan, from Opposing Briefs. Matt had broken up with his long term boyfriend Gage the year before because he was cheating on him. Matt learned Gage had been cheating the whole time they were together, and now Matt doesn't want another relationship. When Matt met Calvin at a party, the chemistry was instant and they had an encounter, but decided to part that night because neither wanted a relationship. When Matt met Calvin at a party, the chemistry was instant and they had an encounter, but decided to part that night because neither wanted a relationship. Calvin was an artist who moved from San Francisco to New York to be with his boyfriend, only after he moved, he learned his boyfriend was cheating on him. When Matt is told by his boss he has to represent his ex Gage in a lawsuit, Matt doesn't want to upset his boss by declining, so he feels like he has no choice but to defend Gage. Calvin's ex is selling his art that was left at their apartment for a deep discount, so Calvin decides to sue him to get the art back. Both Calvin and Matt are shocked to see each other when they meet to discuss the case, making them wonder what will happen with their budding romance. I really loved this story. I loved Matt, i thought he wanted to do the right thing, but was unsure about how it would affect his career. I think he hated Gage and wanted to be with Calvin. Calvin was hurt about Matt being Gage's lawyer, but he also understood why Matt was. I think they both really cared for one another and i think Gage was evil. Another great one from Ian.

Let’s start with the good things first. Matt and Calvin where two well thought out characters. Both had their flaws (and reasons to have them), but they were still really likeable. I found myself really rooting for them right from the start. Then there’s the steaminess. This book is hot. Especially the painting scene. Oh my. *slowly fanning myself*. And the epilogue. It was swoon worthy. However, (and yes there it is again, my favorite word), the writing was sloppy at times. At some passages th Let’s start with the good things first. It was swoon worthy. However, (and yes there it is again, my favorite word), the writing was sloppy at times. At some passages there was a lot of telling instead of showing which made it feel more like a diary of that characters life. It works for some stories but it didn’t this time. At least not for me. Some more editing would have been needed. There were times when Matt said Calvin’s name before he knew Calvin was the guy he’s ex was in a lawsuit against. Small things like that, that made me have to stop and think about what was actually happening, disturbing my flow. Then there’s the random time jumps. Which you know is a pet peeve for me. Two weeks here, ten days there. Then suddenly a six month jump before the epilogue. Talking about the ex, I don’t like him very much. There’s a lot of drama. Sometimes to the point where it just seemed silly. Over all, not a horrible read but frustrating at times. The characters are the books strongest trait.

I don’t know how the author keeps coming up with characters I just love. This story just made me what to keep reading to see what would happen next. Calvin nor Matt deserved the treatment they received from Gage. The ironic part of these two finding out about each other is almost funny. The path their relationship takes is questionable with the issues that keep happening. I enjoyed the author providing insight into the thought process each is going through. I also feel the secondary characters add so much to this story. The one that stands out for me is Nigel. I feel his action decided the direction Matt ended up on. How both of their careers progressed added a lot to the end of this story. I love the vows because they were just so fitting. I feel that this story didn’t really end rather it’s a where they are now. There is so much left open. Will Matt become the DA? What path will Calvin follow? And what about Nigel and Amanda. Then too what about Derek and Gage? I hope this series will answer these questions.

Once again, this author has written an intriguing, heartwarming MM romance. Romance between tenderness and manipulation It is a good, tender story of two men disappointed with their previous relationship because they were cheated, who meet and appreciate each other, but who also discover that their ex-spouse is none other than the same manipulator and that he comes back to break their lives. Calvin, an artist, followed his ex-spouse to New York and dropped him when he found out that he was cheating on him after a month. After 6 months of depression, he meets Matt, a lawyer. They enjoy themselves, but they discover that their ex is the same manipulative man and that he asks for Matt's assistance in a lawsuit against Calvin while he is the culprit in their problem. Between the emotion of the artist and the rigor of the lawyer forced by his boss to take this business he does not want, the story becomes both tender and complex emotionally and morally. Read out of order (dammit!)... Matt is a lawyer friend of Logan & Andrew, who meets Calvin via their other friend Amanda... and oops - fireworks. Then it turns out that they have a common Ex-boyfriend - (really spiteful, nasty) Gage so everything goes to pot. It got a bit boring with the "angst" of Calvin wishing he'd not left San Francisco and wondering if there was any future with Matt at all. It dragged; but we got the expected HEA ending (thank goodness!!) Not as good as 1 and 3, so a fair middle

I didn't enjoy this story as much as I'd hoped to. From Opposing Briefs we knew a little bit about Matt, Calvin and Gage and we only learned a little bit more. Matt was so restricted by his fear of losing his job that he did very little. Calvin had little impact on the story even though he was a main character. The person with the most control over the story was Gage, and he didn't even have a point of view. Good This book was very enjoyable and I enjoyed reading about two guys that were in love with the same guy and didn't realize it no it. It went on for 5 years plus until it was realized. Lawyer Man Meets Painter Man Matt, a lawyer, has just broken up with his five year boyfriend who was cheating on him the whole time. Calvin, an artist and new to New York, has broken up with the man long time boyfriend who cheated after he moved to NYC to be with him. Will their star crossed life’s ever be happy and joyful again? Recommend.

It was a good idea, interesting story line. Wanted to love it but the execution fell flat. The writing style was basic and the characters lacked substance. The insta-love was too needy and most of the book was full of angst. Read it all the way through but would not read again.

Yet again Ian Finn has written a wonderful story that captivates the reader from start to finish. The book is fast-paced, the writing is fluid and easily read in one sitting. It is a standalone book with no cliffhangers and a HEA.
