The author encourages the reader to in the author's words: build a strong foundation on mutual love, faith, and understanding before saying “I Do.” It’s definitely a field guide for relationships from the dating stage to the wedding day and beyond. This book is filled with nuggets of wisdom from a young woman (Chelsea Damon) who has learned a lifetime of lessons on love and is willing to share it with the world. Chelsea is a blogger at Living the Sweet Wife where she shares advice on marriage and family to an audience of 100,000 each month. In this book, she shares her heart with sweet stories about how she met her husband Josh. But she doesn’t shy away from giving the reader a real glimpse into the conflict that they have experienced in their relationship. The way that Chelsea offers advice to readers is honest, relevant and captivating. I read this book in one sitting. She knows how to catch your attention in the start of this book with situations that everyone experiences (the first chapter is about open communication) and she smoothly segues the reader from one page to the next. Before the reader knows it, they would have consumed 157 pages of valuable information and may want more. For the reader who wants more, there is an option of revisiting the chapters and delving deep into the advice for your prayer life that Chelsea has included for enrichment. Revisit the chapters and seriously make those prayers your own and if that still isn’t enough then read Chelsea’s blog. I enjoyed reading this book and found it to be something to treasure. If you are a woman who wants to get married and have a Christ-centered marriage or you’re already married but having struggles, this book is for you! Together with Christ is worth every bit of a five-star rating. Bravo to the author for creating content that inspires the heart and encourages the reader.
*I, (Alexis A. Goring), received a complimentary copy of this book (Together with Christ: A Dating Couple’s Devotional) from the author’s publisher for me to read. My opinions in this book review are my own.

In today’s modern world, this translates into Christians not being in a relationship with non-Christians for the same reason. After a while, we tend to gravitate towards the non-Christian lifestyle of the other. This is where Together With Christ: A Dating Couples Devotional: 52 Devotions and Bible Studies to Nurture Your Relationship by Chelsea Damon can help dating couples. It can even help newlyweds and not-so-newlyweds, as well. This book presents 52 weekly devotions designed for couples to read and discuss together. The subjects covered are very important to couples who are striving to have a Christian relationship and a successful marriage. If a couple will sit down together and truly discuss each weekly devotion, they stand a much better chance at a successful marriage than they would if they did not. Together With Christ also makes a great text for a small group Bible study. Your church should strongly consider this. If your families are from different Christian denominations, it would be well to sit down with both sides of the new family separately, and maybe even together, to work through this book. Remember, one must put God in charge of your married life. Therefore, if marriage is a good thing right now, it will be a good thing a year from now. Don’t rush it; grow together and give your marriage the best chance at success that you can. Together With Christ will help you to do that. We were sent a complimentary copy of this book. Fifty-two, once a week, devotionals for couples to work through. The author states that whilst written with dating couples in mind the book is also suitable for "singles, recently marries people or even groups". A relevant scripture to the topic being discussed is at the top of each chapter. The devotions are typically two to three pages in length so long enough to get the message across but not too long to get bogged down. At the end of each weekly topic there are prayer ideas. Have you run out of date ideas? Head to the end of the book to find twelve from the author. What follows are just a few of the highlights from the book that we have found to be very true in our own marriage and would thus emphasize to dating couples, therefore glad to see them talked about here. >>> GREAT wisdom in "Leaving and Cleaving". >>> The author tells readers that whilst you and your other half may have separate finances now, before marriage, "it's important to develop habits now that will continue into your married lives". I would go a step further and advise starting to join your finances BEFORE your wedding day - bank accounts etc. >>> Excellent devotional on forgiveness. >>> The importance of serving God together is mentioned several times. It is not just about the two of you. >>> How about coordinating and not competing? >>> Do you have realistic expectations regarding your future spouse? >>> Week 29 talks about a healthy view of sex. >>> Week 33 - Intentional encouragement is VITAL to any relationship. Do NOT put your partner down in front of others, even in jest. Build up, not tear down. >>> Marriage vows should be seen as permanent. Don't say "I do" with the thought of divorce if things don't work out. When divorce is not an option, couples need to work through difficulties, seeking help if needed, to make their marriage stronger not weaker. Well-written book that is sure to be a help to many singles, dating couples, newly weds etc. Richard and I have been married for over 30 years so whilst I enjoyed reading the book it is not a devotional we would use at this stage in our lives. If you are a couple engaged to be married this book is NOT a replacement for premarital counseling. Do both and don't forget to pray together! I was provided a copy by the publisher. The above review is my own opinion. Thanks, Liz

Together With Christ: A Dating Couple's Devotional is a unique and much needed book. When it comes to Christians dating, there are a plethora of books available that cover everything from relationships between guys and girls, courting, engagement, wedding planning, and marriage. The endless options are overwhelming and discerning which books contain advice that is truly Biblical can be difficult. I appreciate Together With Christ because it is designed specifically for couples in the dating stage. The book contains 52 devotionals, one for each week of the year. The devotionals are short and focus on various topics that are bound to come up not just in dating, but in any relationship. The author, Chelsea Damon, shares her own personal experiences which I really enjoyed reading. The way in which Chelsea writes is very relatable which I found to be comforting. Like Chelsea and her husband, my husband and I also had a long distance engagement and found ourselves expecting our first child within the first year of marriage. Chelsea wrote in the intro that her first few years of marriage involved many challenges. I appreciated her transparency in sharing this because I feel it is a reality that often goes ignored. I love that while the devotional was written to dating couples, it is not exclusively for dating couples. I read the first devotional on communication by myself and was very encouraged as to how I could apply its principles in my marriage. My favorite aspect of Together With Christ is that it is focused on Jesus and becoming more like Him. I've read many Christian books on singleness, courtship/dating, and marriage which have been mostly helpful but Together With Christ stands apart because of the unique focus on each person growing in Christlikeness. Each devotional ends with questions to consider as well as prayer prompts. Since the devotions are short, couples have the opportunity to really pray through what they are learning which is so important. I'm really thankful for Together With Christ and give it my highest recommendation. Regardless of where you are when it comes to romantic relationships, I encourage you to pick up a copy of Together With Christ. I received Together With Christ compliments of Callisto Publishers Club in exchange for my honest review.

Together with Christ: a dating couples devotional Author Chelsea Damon Althea Press, 2018, 167 pgs. Author Chelsea Damon has written a wonderful Christian devotional especially for couples before they say "I do." Author Chelsea Damon has written a wonderful Christian devotional especially for couples before they say "I do." She strongly believes that if couples will take the time to discuss a wide range of issues that normally crop up in modern relationships, it can significantly build a strong foundation based on mutual love, faith and understanding before they get to the altar. This is the main premise behind, "Together with Christ." Drawing from her personal experience, after three years of dating, she witnessed God's power move in significant ways in building a deeper spiritual/emotional/intimate understanding between her and her fiancé, especially in the areas of introspection and love for Christ. She designed this book as a learning tool to inspire such inspiration and introspection between couples in order for them to grow into a more spiritually mature person who is ready to take on a shared life with a God-sent partner. This book was written to be read together by the couple as they both address areas of their life crucial to the success and happiness of their future marriage to the glory of God. Her style of writing is engaging, personable and God-centered. Just about every topic imaginable is covered as the book is divided up into 52 weeks, one topic for each week with exercises and questions to engage in discussion. Each week concludes with a prayer and suggestions for further application. After reviewing this awesome book, I think it should be part of every premarital counseling program. It was that good, in my opinion. To be sure, if more couples clearly and straightforwardly addressed key issues before they happened in marriage, it not only would surely ensure smoother communication but also serve as a protective buffer against a heartbreaking divorce. Without hesitation, I highly recommend this book for Christian couples who are dating and contemplating marriage. This book was furnished to me from Callisto Publishers for review. I was under no obligation to furnish anything other than an objective, non-biased perspective. David Crews, Ph.D. Pensacola, Florida

Inside each devotion one will find a variety of topics such as prioritizing time, healthy time apart, the right way to apology and open communication just to name a few. The chapters are not very long but it gives you a week before the next devotion to work on what was read between you and your partner. There are quotes fro scriptures that start off each week that pertains to the subject matter for its section. At the end is a box with suggestions on what to pray on to God with the devotion that was just read. The author includes examples from her life with her husband that relates to what she is conveying to us the reader. With 52 topics inside it covers a whole lot of suggestions and information one can use to bond closer to their mate and God. I did enjoy the book. I have read a number of religious books and devotional ones over the years for me to review. The theme seems to be the same in its approached per book. So while it was the same it was different in experience and suggestions. It is quick, not to long to get bogged down in, which is perfect for a couple who wants to grow together or stronger together. I did enjoy the scriptures at the beginning of each week and the suggested prayers at the end of it. I received this book for free from the Callisto Publishing Club but the opinions are my own.

Excellent devotional for seriously dating couples who want to have regular, purposeful time together centred on Christ. Simple, short, weekly devotionals that cover a wide variety of important topics, followed by prayer prompts. My boyfriend and I absolutely loved it and God used it to strengthen and deepen our relationship. Don’t expect a deep Bible study... that’s not the point or purpose of this book. It’s purposely simple, which makes it that much more doable and easy to do consistently.
