So much fun! Q: “Not literally flat, dimwit. Flat in the aesthetic sense. It has no panache. No moxy. No chutzpah.” (c) Q: “I have nightmares about hell, where all I do is add up numbers and try to have conversations with people like you.” (c)

Vignette is a very short story. It is available free on Butcher’s website and in the Side Jobs anthology. It is a really enjoyable read for any fan of the series. For its length, Vignette does a great job showing the series’ humor series. The puns and cheesy one-liners are there in abundance and it is hard not to chuckle while reading. The whole story is a short conversation between Harry and Bob. Harry is considering rewording his advertisement in the Yellow Pages and Bob helps him spice it up. Vignette is a very short story. 3.5-4 stars This was a pretty good short. It's basically just Harry and Bob chatting about what Harry should put in his ad for his wizarding business. I read it for free on Butcher's website: http://www.jim-butcher.com/books/dres... 5-11-20 - This was a reread as I go back through the whole series in prep for the new book coming out in July. This is still a really good short. :) 3.5-4 stars This was a pretty good short. It's basically just Harry and Bob chatting about what Harry should put in his ad for his wizarding business. I haven't rated it yet as I have to get my thoughts in order before I give it a rating. It is incredibly short for an addition to the Dresden Files and it's basically just a conversation between Bob and Harry about advertising his business before we get to the start of the series. I love Harry and Bob's interactions, they're hilarious together, the snark meet perv meet snark meet perv both sides is always entertaining. But a conversation about him advertising his business, the idea of whether he would do the honest thing and go with the be the books idea or go for a flashy one doesn't do much. There's nothing here for it and honestly it's not enough to even really justify it's creation outside of a free gift (which apparently it was) So for a free gift bit for the Dresden Files, I'd say 5/5, but to know it's part of a collection and some will buy that collection to hear this. bit of a rip off now. I know it's for free on Butchers site but...eh I wanted to get my copy of it so I did with Side Jobs, I think it's a bit much. 3/5 for the worthwhile part.

This was okay . If you are new to the Dresden-verse , and you read this as a 'teaser' for Dresden book , you would feel it's cheesy and nothing else , but a fellow disciple of the Dresden religion would love the book for the banter shared between Harry and Bob . This book is free on the author's website and I read it as part of my journey to read all Dresden books so far released before the release of the new books later this year and this just feels like having sips of your favorite drink and n This was okay . Reviewed for THC Reviews "4.5 stars" Vignette is a really short three-page story that is exactly what the title implies, a brief vignette in Harry's life, in which he and Bob discuss possibly making changes to Harry's ad in the phone book. Their interplay is crisp and funny as the two argue over what the new ad should say. Of course, Harry wants to keep it simple, while Bob wants to spice things up a bit. Overall this was a fun, little slice of life story from the Dresden Files series. Just to clarify, this isn't a book, it's a three minute read. But it is funny. (I'm just surprised to find it here.) Just to clarify, this isn't a book, it's a three minute read. But it is funny. (I'm just surprised to find it here.)

This is a funny conversation between Harry and Bob as Harry is deciding how to word his listing in the Yellow Pages of the phone book. Needless to say, Bob tries to teach him the art of lying in advertisement.

Awww; well-played. Butcher said he was asked to write this story for it to be in a free pamphlet to promote the series, and here we have Harry trying to write his ad for his business. It serves it's purpose; Bob's version of the "truth" summarize what Harry probably does on daily basis. xDD Awww; well-played. "Vignette" formerly entitled "Publicity and Advertising" is a short story (if that) from The Dresden Files series written by Jim Butcher, which was first published on his website and later collected and published in Side Jobs as "Vignette". This short story takes place in-between Death Masks and Blood Rites and deals with a conversation between Harry Dresden and Bob. The premise of the story is really simple – Harry Dresden and Bob discuss and debate the relative merits of different approaches to advertising Dresden's business in the Yellow Pages. That's it – just a conversation between wizard and spirit of intellect – no battles, no magic, no death defying stunts, no crisis – unless you consider changing one's advert as a crisis – nothing. However, for its length and lack of plot, this short story does an excellent job of capturing the humor in the series. There are puns and cheesy one-liners in abundance that it is difficult not to chuckle while reading. Bob is hilarious in this short story – I really like his idea in spicing up the advert. In short the story captures both of the characters personalities rather well. All in all, "Vignette" is a wonderfully written short story about the unique relationship between Harry Dresden and Bob – the spirit of intellect. It is also a worthy addition to The Dresden Files universe – enriching it just a tad more.

Basic Plot: Harry and Bob decide what Harry's yellow pages ad should say. This story is available free of JIm Butcher's website, and is also available in the collection Side Jobs: Stories from the Dresden Files. It's super short, but to anyone who has never read Dresden before, it would be a good introduction to what he and the series are all about. To longtime fans, it's a brief reminder of the things we love about Dresden. Basic Plot: Harry and Bob decide what Harry's yellow pages ad should say. Oh. 3 pages? I mean...okay. Heck, Butcher wasn't particularly impressed with this scene according to his introduction. Honestly, this could have easily been an epilogue or afterwards in Death Masks. It doesn't really add anything to the overall narrative. But, hey, it's still more interesting than anything I've ever tried to write. Oh. 3 pages? I mean...okay. Heck, Butcher wasn't particularly impressed with this scene according to his introduction. not a relevant story As the title says, just a vignette it's like putting a cake in front of your nose to remind you of every birthday. The same here. In a few strokes, it reminds you of all dresden's deeds. Quick little peek into the basement lab, with Harry and Bob discussing Harry's business ad. I'm glad I read the reviews that mentioned the availability of this story - I caught it on the webpage and am back to my regularly scheduled program. Bob's hysterical in this audiobook. And one day Harry just might smash him with his hammer. Overall Bob gives good advice in this book and Harry, too, makes better decisions. All in all a listener can tell that these two are true friends. Bob's hysterical in this audiobook. And one day Harry just might smash him with his hammer.
