This book was confusing, pretty slow paced and boring. I almost DNF'd it. The only reason I kept reading was because I wasn't entirely convinced the blurb was for the book I was reading. And the pregnancy we're told about in the blurb? Doesnt happen until 83% into the book. So really the blurb just felt more like #spoilers than a premise for the book. Grant is a boring dick. He's apparently a billionaire, but I don't see how that's possible from his job or if it's old money why his super wealthy family would live on this weird tiny island. His job is strange and weird, just not what a billionaire would do. He doesn't live like a billionaire at all so that also just felt like another blurb misrepresentation. Honestly, without the blurb, I don't get why anyone would read this because the plot would not keep you there until the fake/real marriage. Their whole love story is weird, characters are kind of built up and introduced with no real follow through, there's this whole other "prom" town mystery thing that takes up a looot of the plot and is just very unnecessary? Like it contributed nothing to the main characters and was more boring than cute but maybe everyone else will love that, who knows? Wouldn't recommend.

This started well the first couple of chapters were promising. But then it went downhill the further I got into it. It dragged on and on. It’s filled with situations and scenes that do not move the story forward one bit. If you cut out all the filler scenes this could have been told in a novella IMO. To be blunt the whole story became very tedious and boring.

Another classic case of blurb betrayal. I am sorry but what the blurb promises and what's inside the book are so worlds apart that right now I am close to losing it. The book started off so frigging adorable. Loved it. I was sure I am in for a 5+++ stars ride and it would be awesome.. I couldn't wait to get more into reading it.. Oh the joy.. The blurb to this book was misleading...I was made to believe there would be a marriage and baby... By the time I got 1/3 the way through the book, the H/h weren't even speaking to each other cordially. The heroine was a freaking BITCH, and the hero just took it like a punk. I put it aside because I wanted to give it some breathing room, hoping it was just my momentary emotional state that made me so angry about the book. Nope. 2 disappointing stars. It started good then later on it was not! It was really slow moving for me. It dragged and it dragged. There were just too many unnecessary details and that made it extra long. I got bored and lost interest. Oh well, better luck next time😊.

5 Stars I really enjoyed this book! I read it in one sitting and couldn't put it down. Grant and Emma were meant to be together, they just had years and obstacles to overcome to get their hea. It was sweet and steamy and even had a little dude mystery that kept me intrigued. I'm reading glad that Neil and Eleanor got their own hea as well! 5 Stars I really enjoyed this book! I saw an ad for this on Facebook, and since it was available on KU, I downloaded it. My expectations were pretty low, but I actually really enjoyed this. There was more complexity to the story than in similar books I've read, and I appreciated the development in the characters. Not a bad first book for the year. This one started strong, but I ended up feeling lukewarm towards it. Our Hero (view spoiler)[ Grant, just never seems all that into Emma. It feels like he can take her or leave here. I could understand him walking away the first time, they were young. But even when they reconnect, he just doesn't seem that into her- I don's know. It was weird. Like, if circumstances had been different, he would have been fine walking away again. (hide spoiler)] . Kind of unsatisfying, for me anyways. Hmm.. I liked this book, very much - BUT.. there are two things that bothered me and please be aware that you might be spoilered if you haven't read this book yed: First, when I read the blurb I grinned and thought: Sounds like fun! However, I read .. and read.. and read.. and the wedding and knocking up was still not happening. At 57%, there is a fake wedding.. which turns to a real wedding at 60%.. the pregnancy happened at around 84%. This really pissed me off!! Why mentioning it in the blurb Hmm.. At 57%, there is a fake wedding.. which turns to a real wedding at 60%.. the pregnancy happened at around 84%. This really pissed me off!! Why mentioning it in the blurb when kind of telling the reader the story of the book? Not cool!! The other really annoying thing was the ridiculous ex-husband of Emma: Wyatt. The guy who was introduced briefly as the douche who deceived Emma into marriage only to turn to Doctor Hyde afterwards by abusing her verbally, taking her money and cheating on her. Then HE (!!) divorces her and leaves her broke to marry the wench who he had cheated Emma with. Well, you think: wow, good riddance. Hallelujah!!! Well, don't be hasty.. the jerk returns at around 42% to harass Emma and you never guess what his reason is: He wants her back because she is the love of his life and according to him, he still sees Emma as his wife. He even moves to the house next door and constantly reaches out to her to persuade her to get back together. He even breaks into her house on Black Friday when she is still sleeping and comes at her. And what does the local Sheriff say? Does he tell him off? Does he tell her there are options like a restraining order? No, he tells her there is nothing they all can do about him and that he will probably go away when he learns about her being now married to Grant. When then comes to her house (after she and Grant found out about the pregnancy) and acts like a lunatic, he tries to get to her and attacks Grant when he tries to throw him out. It was a bit melodramatic, that scene. You'd thought he came at Emma with a butcher knife. Well, afterwards - poof - not a word about him. Okay, rant over. There were also a lot of things I really liked about this book - obviously.. since I give it 4 stars. I did like the love story which was hiding in the pages. Emma and Grant were made for each other. Everybody saw that but them. I liked her friend Judy very much and the story about the vanished Eleanor was really sweet. The mystery about the baby wasn't solved and I'm not sure if this means we learn about that in the next book. There are two more books at the moment about Grant's brothers Preston and Dean - not sure if we also get Asher and Seth in the future. However, it was a good read with a nice happy end. A bit odd was that we never really met Grant's parents who also live in Magnolia Falls - while their 5 sons live everywhere in the US. I'm still debating whether or not to read the next book. The jury is still out..

The story has everything in it and, consequently, it was a long read for a romance. There's an old mystery to solve, a disgruntled ex to confront, romance to rekindle, a fake wedding, an unexpected consequence of the fake wedding, quant island life, a totally hyper BFF to calm, .... So much, I can't go on. I could have enjoyed the story just as well with less, well, just less! Emma, the heroine, is a broken woman at the story's beginning. In fact, I did not like her much because she just seemed so snarky and angry. But she mellows after settling back into life in her small hometown so you have to read past the first few chapters to dispel some of the cloud hanging over her outlook. Grant, the filthy rich, privileged hero, knows how to make the grand gestures but he also seems ready to compartmentalize his all-important and lucrative business from his life with Emma. Not sure that I liked his ability to leave Emma to cope on her own for weeks at a time and his treatment of Emma when they were teens seemed calculated and cold. Has he really reformed? No spoiler here! Judy, Emma's BFF and fellow teacher, was a bright spot whenever she appeared, and the ancient love story Grant and Emma uncover very sad and touching. All in all, many good plot threads and some fun characters but a bit too long. I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

So, I normally do not review low books, but I feel like that's not really fair if reviews should be honest. And I think you can be honest without being mean. So, I was pretty excited for this book. I'm not sure why, but I like to read the books where there's some kind of mistake or happenstance that puts two people who do not want to be together together. The middle of the book had a lot going on and it was kind of chaotic and didn't flow well. There was just too much. I feel like there was just so much the author wanted to say, which is fine, but in this case it didn't go together in a coherent way that kept the reader wanting to continue. Honestly at 50% I was done, but I had hope, so I pushed. At 70% I felt like there had to be a redeemer in there somewhere at the end and that's why I kept going. And there was in a small way. It wasn't as great as I had hope, but there was some form of things coming together at the end enough to make me feel okay about it. I also should say that the title, Marriage Mistake, could be a tad misleading. It is not anything like you would expect given the title, but to avoid spoilers I won't say more. I'm on the fence about reading more of the author. I'm not sure if this was earlier work or a rare chaotic book. The premise was great and that's what would make me want to try more of the author's work, but I honestly do not believe I would push to the finish if I wasn't feeling it like this one. *Read in KU*

She is just happy that he spends most of his time off of the tiny island they both called home. Grant has built a life for himself by going into business with his brothers. They help people do things on their bucket lists, and they are gods at it doing it. A call from a woman at his old high school sends Grants back home to a meeting. Rescuing Emma, who is stranded on the side of the road, is just good luck for him. He has missed her since he let her go all those years ago and is happy to reconnect. She, on the other hand, is not happy to see him. Can he get back what he had with her all those years ago, or are they really over for good? We get to meet Grant's brothers, who I predict will get their own stories soon, and many of the townspeople who live and love on the small island. I can't wait to read more in the series. I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

KU* 2.5 stars I was intrigued by this book because of the blurb, but unfortunately, the book was nowhere near what the blurb inferred. I was very disappointed that the book wasn't what I was expecting to read and most of the book didn't even focus on Grant and Emma since they had a few side stories that took center stage (prom, Neil, Grant's job, etc). The characters were ok (Emma did get on my nerves most of the time), but most of the time I felt the book was all over the place and I think the main focus of the book got lost. I really didn't get Wyatt's complete change of character in the end; it seemed like it was filler to add more drama. Did they ever find Lily for Neil and Eleanor? I did love Judy, she was the bright spot in the book, but even her storyline was a little confusing. This book was just too long and didn't focus on the main characters or the story that was stated in the blurb.

She vows to never let him in again, but the attraction and pull is still there. When they eventually get together, it’s not without hard choices being sought. Will these two be able to commit to each other without long-lasting consequences? Will they get their “happily ever after”? You will laugh and you will cry with Grant and Emma’s romance. It’s kind of a long book, but I was totally immersed in their love story. Amazing main characters! Even the supporting characters were stellar too! There’s a few storylines going on here also, which were pretty mysterious. And, the authors’ attention to detail was immaculate! Other than one question. Was one of Grant’s brothers name Asher or Archer? I thought I saw those two names mentioned as a reference. I could be mistaken, though. Loved this book so much!!!

Then for some reason I can never understand, or stomach, her panties are wet and she’s fantasizing about him, WHILE he’s deliberately making her feel small and stupid. That’s not sexy, that’s sociopathic. Backstory is lame (why exactly is Emma pursuing her college minor instead of her major?) and choppy, extra characters are annoying (what is Dean’s problem?) Grant is a misogynistic jerk, and Emma is a flaky idiot. Hard pass on this one.

I found the story-line and plot, intriguing & well written with believable characters that have realistic emotional flaws.

Slow build(ish) ✔ Second chance ✔ Drama ✔ Not secret baby ✔ (which appreciated that wasn't kept secret from.him and she actually told him straight up instead of him finding out some other way) It's definitely a slow build but I do feel like the blurb and actual story a bit different. Yes couldve done without some of the filler scenes and all. Also could 've had more of a bang as the climax\conflict because *spoiler* Ex shows up AGAIN after harassing for a couple pages and then just leaves??? And Grant just being like yea ok I'm cool with whatever you say Emma, and her then being like I need space then getting upset about it? Like almost felt it was about to be her friends story too bc Judy and Jeremy are dating, didn't need the tangent into their relationship. HOWEVER..... it did have it's but wrenching moment for me with Elanor's story. Which kinda have a slight cliffhanger did they or did they not find Lily??? Because no more mention of her or if he had made progress? Is there going to be like another book maybe one of the brothers stories and they find Lily and BAM???!!!

Funny one liners but flat characters, monotonous story theme made story hard to endure The beginning of the story of Grant and Emma’s meeting as adults was funny and had potential for being interesting. However the lack of character development of everyone, Emma’s mom and sister falling out of the story completely, what happened to Wyatt?, and feeling like I was dropped at a point of several of their encounters with big time period gaps left me feeling flat, disinterested and made getting through Funny one liners but flat characters, monotonous story theme made story hard to endure The beginning of the story of Grant and Emma’s meeting as adults was funny and had potential for being interesting. Hate to say, but I find many combo author books to be this way as there seems to be one that is tasked with the overall concept and the other to fill in on a creation that they lacked an intimate or total understanding of. Romantic situations made it feel like they were going through the motions and having the two characters continue to scoff at others comment on their “look of love” made it all the more unbelievable and unfulfilling for me to believe as well.

An amazing story filled with wonderful and colourful characters and a very well written storyline. Love the mystery that Emma and Grant set out to solve it adds something special to the story. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book.

Beware of the reviews I decided to ignore the reviews since I often don’t agree, but they were right. It’s a super cute story, but the time jumps are awful and many plots are left unfinished. Things just happen conveniently and without explanation, and the small details that would explain changes of feelings are completely left out. I wanted to know what he whispered to her to relax her body, and what happened between the days where she couldn’t stand him to being in a casual friendship? I wanted to know what he whispered to her to relax her body, and what happened between the days where she couldn’t stand him to being in a casual friendship? How was her relationship with her mom? Did they find Lily? Why couldn’t he just commute to work and stay in Magnolia Falls? There was just a lot of telling rather than showing, but also not enough telling. It bothered me a lot, but I let my imagination fill in the gaps so that I could get through the story. It definitely is a slow burn, but I think that because there were so many storylines going at once, it needed to be slower and maybe more than one book.
