Hero was incredibly sweet and honorable, heroine was amazingly strong and good. Actually it was like reading a fairy tale without magic. If there was not misunderstanding and a few days separation, I would give 3,5 stars but because of the mini angst and tearjerker scenes 4,5 stars. :)

Pippa’s mother suggest that maybe Pippa should look for a husband, and Pippa is expecting a gentleman to declare himself, but her hopes are shattered. Even worse, the Duke of Saints, Christopher Worth, the duke of Carlyle, witnessed her moment of shame. After the debacle, Pippa suddenly realises that she has a talent that she could use to earn a living, and it works better than she ever expected: she has become the Ton’s favourite gossip columnist! Christopher and Pippa establish a tentative friendship until things take several unexpected turns. MISADVENTURES WITH A DUKE has one of the most unusual meet-cutes I have read in a long time, and it was a very clever way for Pippa to get acquainted with Carlyle. He has a pristine reputation, he intends to keep it that way, and I felt this was so very refreshing. Christopher is not your typical dissipate duke who relishes his wayward life. He is truly honourable, generous, a progressive thinker, a gentleman, and he also wants to find the right woman, and marry for love! In spite of her family’s scandalous reputation, Pippa is determined to make the best of a bad situation, and I loved that she behaved rationally and used her abilities instead of trying to marry for money. Both Pippa and Christopher are atypical historical romance protagonists, and I do wish we would see more like them. I loved them both, they were brilliant individually and together. Even though I was aware of Christopher’s proclivities – he’s into light BDSM – I was quite pleased that they are alluded to in a very subtle way and it did not turn the book into a kinky romp. Stacy Reid even respected her characters in that she remained as discreet as they are about their preferences. It did figure into the reason for establishing a relationship, but it was their conversations; their interactions that got them progressively closer. There were many bumps on the road – none of them contrived or forced – and theirs is such a lovely and most convincing romance! Isn’t it comforting to see that it is possible to write a historical romance that feels entirely believable, with characters who act according to the era’s social dictates – in this case, the early Victorian era – and still have a sexy, exciting and very romantic story without over-the-top shenanigans or anachronistic behaviour! If this is the type of historical romance you crave for, Stacy Reid delivers with MISADVENTURES WITH THE DUKE! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Every part of the story was so blatantly obvious before it happened, the foreshadowing was like a brick in the forehead and I hated that I knew exactly what was to come. This is another captivating, engrossing read by the author whilst part of a series it’s easily read on its own. The pace flows effortlessly from start to finish, I was drawn in from the first page & grabbed until the last. The characters are well fleshed & are likeable. I loved both Kit & Pippa, they were so right for each other. He’s the prize of the season & is ruthlessly pursued for his title & riches. Pippa is hanging onto her reputation after her father absconded to America with his rich mistress leaving her & her mother with a struggling estate. I loved that she only saw Kit as Kit not a duke. His attraction to her was just as strong but misunderstandings, machinations of others all made the road to their HEA rocky but very entertaining. My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

So when her friend told her of her ruination by the Duke Of Carlyle, she decided to invest this, intending to reveal the debauched he is to London society. She just not expected to encounter the one man who witnessed the shameful proposal of her rakish beau. And the more she get to know him, the more his portrait is opposite to the one made by her friend. She discovers a man who likes his privacy but is also a great benefactor to the cause of the vulnerable and poorest. But she can’t comprehend what he seeks from her. Christopher Worth has loved once but it had hurt his family, since he kept his affairs secret, even more as he shares special tastes once the bedroom’s doors closed. Never he will shame his name, it is not done in his family. Until he meets a witty woman whose curses stir needs he keeps secret. Alas she is the inverse of whom he should look for as his future duchess, but she awakes emotions and frill he thought asleep. So he must decide if he will woo her or forget her, but also if she can find in her to trust him. For a short story, it was delightful and witty, the last two chapters before the epilogue had me on edge, they were awesomely done. A big fat 5 stars!

This was a really sweet read. We have Pippa, who doesn’t quite trust men, and we have Christopher, the Duke of Carlyle, very dashing but very proper, who wants to marry someone he's in love with. When they meet, they’re instantly taken with each other. But Pippa, who’s in need of money, soon becomes employed by a gossip column and finds herself sneaking into the duke’s house in disguise to uncover evidence of scandalous doings, which leads to some very entertaining interactions between the two. Quick fun read I finished the book in less than a day. Really enjoyed the relationship between Pippa & Christopher. Pippa was quite a humorous character even though she went through a lot. Both main characters lived their lives standing up against society and were able to find true love eventually. Looking forward to book 5.

Even Christopher’s proclivities were alluded to in a very subtle way making certain this story did not turn the book into a kinky romp which would have turned me off totally. Stacy Reid respected her characters and remained discreet about their preferences. I really enjoyed this short read and gave it 4.5 of 5.0 stars for storyline an characterization. The characters are well developed with no need for avert content to boost it's sexiness and intimacy. There is a very sexy nature to this novella though so be warned this is not your mother's regency. I received a complimentary copy of this book to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this title which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

This is an OK Regency romance, but it just wasn't realistic. Because of that, it gets 3 stars from me. I won't give spoilers, but no gently-bred woman of that time period would have done what Pippa did. She knew from personal experience how badly society treated women whose reputation had been ruined. In her case, it was through no fault of her own, but she was still ostracized for it. That experience would have kept her from doing anything as foolhardy as what she did. I also don't think that Chr This is an OK Regency romance, but it just wasn't realistic. Because of that, it gets 3 stars from me. I also don't think that Christopher would have forgiven her as easily as he did. They both made mistakes, but I honestly think that hers was worse. Also, society would not have been accepted Pippa as Christopher's duchess -- very few gentlemen of the time would have even considered marrying someone so far beneath them, especially not against the wishes of their family. My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

A heartbroken young woman, a Duke with a sterling reputation ( though a brief love affair gone wrong was not known) another young woman with an axe to grind and you have pain, mystery, betrayal at the hands of a friend and a great love. It wasn't' difficult to understand Miss Cavanaugh's lack of trust in men with the abandonment by her father, and a rascal who sought to make her his mistress and not his wife. She trusted her best friend's claim of seduction by the Duke pushing Pippa ( Miss Cavanaugh) to find a way to avenge her friend. She finds herself writing for a well known gossip paper and sets about to ruin the Duke. As she progresses, she finds he is far from the rake her friend described, but a kind hearted man who cares for others. He on the other hand, struggles to maintain his good reputation and resists the pushing of mother and sisters into marriage. He found the one he wants and all he has to do is make her trust him. Pippa finds herself loving him in return but still wary of his intentions. When she discovers her friend lied to her, she must find a way to take back the terrible things she said about him in the gossip paper. Not an easy task by any means. Caught on the horns of a dilemma, she finally writes an article signing her own name to it, in the hopes he reads it and forgives her. Turnabout is fair play after an assigned meeting doesn't happen, the Duke must now write an article himself and pray that Pippa not only reads it, but believes him. No spoilers here - please give this a read and enjoy the ups and downs of love, trust and forgiveness. Once again, Ms. Reid comes through with a wonderful story! Very well written!

Misadventures with a Duke is both entertaining and engrossing. The tightly woven story is character driven and filled with passionate emotions. Stacy Reid is a very fine writer who is not too wordy, but still descriptive. She packs an emotional punch into each scene, and her sexually intimate scenes are both loving and erotic. Even the kisses between Pippa and Christopher are explosive. Lastly, the ending, which includes an epilogue, is both sweet and satisfying. Content alert: I really liked this book, but I can only recommend it to adult readers who are not easily offended by an occasional vulgarity or descriptive intimacies.

Our story opens with Pippa thinking that the young man she has been talking with for the last few months is about to make a public declaration to marry her. He instead asks her to be his mistress. She is shocked and hurt, but manages to give him a proper set down for it. In trying to get away from him and have a moment to cry alone, she bumps into Christopher, Duke of Carlyle. He heard the whole thing and is impressed by her courage and her fire. I admired Pippa and the way she finds a way to take care of her mother. Christopher is also a very good man. I did not care for the way the newspaper was handled. I don't think a duke could be defamed that way without repercussions nor do I think a letter from one person to another would be printed. Other than that, I liked it. I liked the characters and I liked how they both had to grow and improve to get their HEA.

Christopher Worth, Duke of Carlyle, is the epitome of a dutiful, proper gentleman of the Ton. Thanks to her father and a cad masquerading as a suitor, Pippa Cavanaugh is all but an outcast from Society. They certainly do not belong together. Christopher knows what he wants in his wife and duchess and what he does not. Is it possible Pippa is the one he has been waiting for? Pippa also knows what she wants, if she marries. She wants someone she can love and trust. Is it possible Christopher is th Christopher Worth, Duke of Carlyle, is the epitome of a dutiful, proper gentleman of the Ton. This romance unfolds beautifully from friendship to love. The story has hurt, betrayal, distrust, misunderstanding, jealous friends, meddling families, forgiveness, and love. The main characters are quite engaging. I like that the reader learns about them as they learn about each other (as did anyone who reads the gossip columns). I enjoyed and highly recommend Misadventures With the Duke.

4.5 I’m so glad this one was short and not a full length novel because it wouldn’t have been as good. These two were refreshing characters to read about. Of course she was the infamous Lady W who wrote scandal sheets with caution to not destroy any lives without naming names but he discovered her identity almost immediately after their encounter at night. So the angsty issue at the end didn’t last long and was predictable but I'm glad it was short lived. They were very sweet together and I loved how he was honest with his feelings and was not a hero who just took without thinking of consequences. She worked hard to ensure that she could care for herself and her mother and made her situation work for what she had. I am so happy they got their happy ending.

Stacy Reid Forever Yours Series 4 (enjoy Maureen Driscoll, Elisa Braden, Sophie Jordon, Samantha Holt) Midsize book length; not full book. The development and interest in main characters and secondary characters was enjoyable. I really did like the H/H for this book; very well paired as a couple. I loved the writing around the women empowerment (it wasn’t over the top for me). writing style is easy to follow, humorous moments, the give and take dialogue enjoyable. the writing style has some modern w Stacy Reid Forever Yours Series 4 (enjoy Maureen Driscoll, Elisa Braden, Sophie Jordon, Samantha Holt) Midsize book length; not full book. Romantic/sexual content (kissing, oral, love making scenes) was throughout the book. Nothing over the top; again nicely intertwined in the story. There are a few detailed written scenes and several just mentioning the act. 1.5/5 hotness and steam (talk about bondage but nothing written in detail) would recommend this book and the series.

This was simply a wonderful read! A well written, entertaining storyline serves as the perfect backdrop for these incredibly likable characters. I loved that Pippa and Christopher were both complex characters, with cool heads and kind hearts. As for Christopher, I felt he was quite unique also. He was not brooding or a rakehell, he was just a wonderful, thoughtful man, with firm dreams an desires about the life he wanted. In the end I thought this was a truly exceptional historical romance. By my own accord I am posting a sincere review.

I loved this story! I think it is a great talent for a writer to be able to bring her audience into the story so quickly and to intensely care about the characters. Christopher Worth, the Duke of Carlyle, a man of sterling reputation and propriety should not even be seen in the company of someone like Miss Cavanaugh. Through fate and a mischievous act of recklessness they are thrown into each other’s path- Can this spark of desire lead to something more? The development of the relationship with all the flirting, the cleverness, and sexiness make for a very quick and satisfying read. I was on pins and needles for the last two chapters of the book as they chased their HEA. You will not be disappointed in this book.
