**I received a copy of this from the author in exchange for my honest review.** One doesn't expect such prose in this day and age on the manner of grief in poetry but Sharon Arthur achieves a mythical and spiritual journey for the grieving in her poetry. The poems are divided into sections, and she shares with the reader words that have come to her from the loss of her own parents. One doesn't need to lose a parent though to identify with Arthur, simply know the feeling of grief. The poems are beautiful and haunting and the call to the age of mythology in them makes for a powerful read and I haven't seen such talent in a 'new' poet in quite a long time.

Great book for the Non-Poetry type person I found this book when a dear elderly friend lost both her sister and shortly thereafter her brother-in-law. We were doing a small gathering to send them off and we wanted to have a poem or something appropriate for the occasion. Neither one of us were poetry people, but I came across this new poetry book that seemed like just the type of material we needed. I was so happy to have found this book. The poems are very relatable for a non-poetry person. The poems are very relatable for a non-poetry person. Many were so appropriate to be read out loud for the occasion. We ended up using some stanzas in some of the longer poems that really touched my grieving friend and made it even more personal for her. We ended up using 3 different poems for the service and I really believe that the author's words we so expressive that they touched everyone in attendance. I look forward to seeing what other works this author offers. And I might even dip my toe into other poetry books, I hope they are as clearly relatable like this one is.

The Wind Softly Murmurs by Sharon Arthur This collection of touching and mystical poetry invites readers into a personal journey of grief. Painfully touching, the poems weave spiritual, literary and earthy metaphors that poignantly describe the intangible. The meticulous language is polished and precise. The imagery is creative and universal. The poems gradually move from a refrain of sorrow to mounting hope that pain can be transformed and one’s desperation will not be the last word.
