The book brings out quite cogently why Peter was Great. Irrespective of the inhuman manner in which he treated his opponents, including the ghastly execution of his own son, he brought Russia out of the dark age. His focus on education and his yearning to learn from good practices in other countries was truly remarkable

He Made Russia Mighty Peter the great changed Russia from a large but archaic country into a more modern one. He traveled to learn how other countries operated and did much to update Russia. He built a strong military and took on wars with the Swedes and later even the Ottoman Empire, which was very powerful. This book is a good way to learn a lot about his reign in a short time.

After reading an historical novel of the life of Catherine, Peter's second wife, I wanted to get a different, and, perhaps less florid, view of the Russian Tsar Peter I. The succinct biographies from Hourly History are good at highlighting the life and times of historical figures. If you think of each chapter as a bullet point, each chapter that piques your interest is a place to start further research. In my case, I found confirmation of many things about this man that were told in the novel. I don't have a huge interest in Russia, but I do feel more informed about how Russia became a world power, and how Peter the Great was instrumental in making it so.

Short and sweet, easy to read This small book was very well written, making it easy to read for almost everyone who is interested in knowing more about Peter the Great. I enjoyed it very much.

Peter the Great did much to bring his country into the modern age and made education more available to some of the people. Reading a book like this shows the good and bad about the ruler, sometimes the bad outweighs the good.

These one-hour histories barely scratch the surface, but that's to be expected. This one is lighter than most, though. These one-hour histories barely scratch the surface, but that's to be expected. This one is lighter than most, though.

Pedro el Grande La vida de un personaje tan complejo y con tantas vivencias no puede ser resumida en esa forma. Es un índice, no una biografía.

Enjoyable Not my normal choice of book but really enjoyed reading it told his story without any embellishments just factual and not to long

Short and sweet... The facts are as we know them, the history is accurate I would have just liked more of it as it is such a good story.
