“It’s in all of us. Humans too. But the supernaturals have more than the Norms do. Part of what makes a vampire a vampire is drawn from the Dark. All fairies, regardless of whether they are Dark Fey or Light Fey, have Dark in them. Shapeshifters too, although I’ve been told they fight it. But never underestimate the Dark. If you don’t want it to crawl into bed with you “It’s in all of us. If you don’t want it to crawl into bed with you late at night, don’t pull back the covers.” Someone's abducting members of parliament, and they smell like wet dog. This could mean disaster for the country. For Georgia Deverell, it means so much more. The half-vampire/half-vampire hunter Nothus suddenly becomes a hot commodity. Because no one, not Norm nor supernatural, can hunt down the perpetrator like she will. But that’s not all Georgia has to worry about. Her Dark Shadow has just about had enough. And when a fairy changes the balance of power between Gigi and her vampire-within, things get interesting. That’s if interesting involves a sexy vampire or two and the battle they currently have to win her as a mate. Taking on Fey monsters and shapeshifting Taniwha are the least of Georgia’s problems. Taking on the Master of Auckland City and the vampire she never stopped loving could be the death of her. The final death that is. Like Gigi says, it sucks to be me.

Update to the Publication Update (May 2018): So, it happened. I returned to this fantastic world and, I'll have you know, I returned with a bang. The Nothus is back! Boy, is she back. And she's kicking butt as only Georgia can. Keep an eye out for DARK SHADOW around July 2018. I had so much fun writing this one and so much fun being back with Georgia and the gang. Why on Earth didn't I do this sooner? ;) Publication Update: The Kindred series took up the better part of two years of writing for me Update to the Publication Update (May 2018): So, it happened. Why on Earth didn't I do this sooner? ;) Publication Update: The Kindred series took up the better part of two years of writing for me. I threw myself into Lucinda & Michel's world with happy abandon. As such, by the time I made it to the last instalment, Kiss of the Dragon, and then the final novella special, Dreaming Of A Blood Red Christmas, I was all vamped out. I love Georgia. I love her strength of character, and yes, her stubbornness. And I'm just as keen as you to see who gets to push our Nothus' buttons. But I need a breather, and as such, book two may be a little delayed. Please bear with me. I will return to this fantastic world, (how could I not?), but it may take a little longer than first anticipated. To keep up to date with where I'm at writing wise, just pop on over to the website or catch up with me on Facebook. And maybe with some gentle coaxing, I could feel the vampness take a hold of me again. ;) ♥ Nicola

I have read every book related to the Kindred series. Every one has been strongly written with equally kick-ass male and female protagonists. Dark Shadow is absolutely no exception. All of the main players in this story (and there are many) are well developed, the majority are from the previous books within the series. I like the way the characters are so well developed, their development remains in keeping with their breed and character. I like the way the characters are so well developed, their development remains in keeping with their breed and character. While Dark Shadow does have so much going on, it is not confusing because Nicola Claire has a great talent for combining explanations within the natural flow of the story. There is also a list of specific definitions at the beginning of the book. (it is present in each of the series that this story has links to.) Now, lets talk about the story. Nothus (half Nosferatu/ half Nosferatin) Georgia (gigi) Deverell is working with the police to solve a series of missing politicians. She has no idea of just how personal this journey would become. There is the official battle for her affections with Sampson (who loved her as a human and that love has never wavered,) and Jett, the Master of Auckland City (whose determination to win Georgia’s affections were bought about by unwelcome and sneaky dark Fey magic.) both wanting her for their mate and Georgia’s inner demon encouraging her to choose. To say Georgia has a lot to deal with is a huge understatement. I do not want to give the story away. It’s really gritty and very fast paced and tense. Things happen that I just did not see coming. I was blindsided several times. Featuring norms (humans) Nosferatu, Nosferatin, Dark Fey, Light Fey, Taniwha (New Zealand’s breed of Shifters) and of course Nothus there are so many supernatural elements and each one has it’s unique part to play within this richly woven tale. Nicola Claire has penned another outstanding and thoroughly thrilling story and I cannot wait for more books set within the world that we were first introduced to in the Kindred series. I received an arc copy of Dark Shadow from Nicola Claire. This has in no way influenced my review.

Dark Shadow begins with Georgia having to pay back a dept she owes to a Farie. It is not all fun and games though. That's not the only thing she is dealing with now though, she also has to deal with her cop friend bringing her in on a case, her Dark Shadow, and the men in her life. But when she finally starts to get things right, it may end up going all wrong. I have waited for this book forever it seems like. I was so happy to get to read it, and it was awesome. Although, I probably should have re-read the first one before this one, but that's okay. It was really good, and I loved the heroine. I also loved what happened between her and the hero. However, I was a bit frustrated and happy with the end, although it ends on a cliffhanger, I'm upset and excited for more now. I can't wait!!

Wow, super wow I was finally able to read Dark Shadow, of course I 1st had to reread Mixed Blessing. Let me tell you I almost went back to reread the whole Kindred series, since Nicola mentioned this series would be 6.5 and 6.75 in the Kindred world (my favorite world). I'm totally in love with Samson, Dark Shadow and Black Dog. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone who hasn't had a chance to read it, so I'll just say I LOVE Dark Shadow and can't wait for the next one. 20 stars out of 5 Wow, super wow I was finally able to read Dark Shadow, of course I 1st had to reread Mixed Blessing. I have waited/longed for this book to come out and I have not been disappointed, if anything it has exceeded where I thought it would take me. It was fantastic to renter Georgia's world, after such a long break. It didn't take much to be absorbed back into Georgia's life as a Nothus. Reentering her world; its complications, her battle with her 'dark shadow', and not forgetting her relationship with both Samson and Jett, of which there were many unexplained connections mentioned/hinted at in The Kindred series, (the answers are coming) and no-wonder they were left unexpanded...they truly need their own story! Georgia definitely has her own journey that needs to be shared.... Needless to say, I devoured this book! An unexpected bonus - This book incorporates a number of favourites, with a good helping of Gregor and Amisi thrown in too! Plus a cross over with the Fae world too and her Sire. This book takes place within the timeline of the Kindred Series, although it can be read as a standalone series. I was hooked on Nicola Claire's Kindred series from the first page, devouring all 8 books in a month and was the reason I took out my KU subscription! I have now been lucky enough to join Nicola Claire's ARC team, hence I can review this before it's release day. This book I devoured within 24 hours! Nicola Claire is a fantastic story teller! If you haven't read this series and you love Vamps, Shifters and kick-ass women, this is a series for you!

Yet another fantastic tale from Nicola Claire. There are many reason why I loved this book; Gigi is a strong, no nonsense heroine with sharp wit and great determination in the face of so much adversity; the secondary characters are so well thought out and described that they appear as imposing and important as the main characters, and finally, it gave me a further KINDRED fix. I can't wait for the next book in this series. I find myself rooting for Gigi so much. Yet another fantastic tale from Nicola Claire. Dark Shadow is the second book in the series and it is just as great as the first. I love the worlds Nicola Claire creates, she draws me in completely and I can get lost in them for hours! Georgia is a fantastic heroine, and I enjoy the romance between her and the hero. With great characters and a story that had me hooked from the first page, this is a book I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. I can't wait for the next book in the series! A solid second installment. I really enjoy this world that Ms. Claire has created, and I certainly give her props for creativity. The concept feels original and fresh, which I always appreciate. I like Georgia as a character, and I was happy with the romantic developments in this story. I was definitely invested from page 1 of the story and couldn't put the book down. Looking forward to #3! A great continuation of this Kindred spin off. It is in no way over shadowed by it's predecessor and Nicola continues to develop and grow her characters. I was horrified how mean and nasty Gregory was as I had quite liked him in Kindred (even if he was a bit sneaky in it), he was just downright racist with Gigi! (Right there is an indication of how good this book is, I almost believed it was real heh heh!). I consumed this book and really can't wait to download rogue vampire because you just know A great continuation of this Kindred spin off. Excellent paranormal story I really enjoyed following Georgia as she learns more about her vampire within and how to live and work together with her to benefit both of them. She learns more about her Nosferitin half and how to meld it with her vampire half as she experiences other supernatural disasters in her life. Great book, highly recommend it.
