I won this book in a goodreads drawing. A family, hoping to escape the chaos of the city buy an old house that has a reasonable price...too reasonable. If it's too good to be true, it usually is. The house is totally creepy. Then they find a music box... Not too bad. Kind of like an RL Stine novel. I won this book in a goodreads drawing. A Murderer’s Music Box is a dramatic presentation of a horror/supernatural story that is interesting and has a surprise multiple twisted-ending. The sound effects were realistic, the music was haunting (in fact so much so that I cannot get it out of my head) and the dialog was solidly realistic. Each character is fully developed, even Samantha has the annoying, entitled attitude done pat. The plot was believable as the Wellwoods find the home of their dreams at an affordable price but what they find inside … well, that is for you to discover. It reminds me of the old movies/books such as The Haunting of Hell House. Not everything is as it seems! Personally, I do not normally enjoy dramatic presentations but this one was well done. The last twist in the ending left me thinking … what? But after thinking about it for a bit I realized how it happened, but it required me dwelling on it a short bit. I think this piece might need to transition a bit better. The duo narration was good, their character voices were mostly distinct. Father, Manuel Rose and, his daughter, Melissa Rose performed the audiobook very well! The blood-curdling screams were very realistic! If you enjoy dramatic presentations, and love hauntings/horror this is the book for you! You might need to leave the light on, for a bit ... or longer. There were no issues with the audio production or quality of this audiobook. It was well done.

This was truly an interesting horror story with lots of twists and a surprising ending. There is an old expression that goes "don't believe everything you hear." Well, I have to say that after reading this story, I am somewhat puzzled with certain details that seem to draw the reader in and keep the suspense. The story for the most part is told from the perspective of a "12 year old girl" who moves into a "new" house in the country side with her parents and unborn sister. The story for the most part is told from the perspective of a "12 year old girl" who moves into a "new" house in the country side with her parents and unborn sister. However, the house is not all it seems to be and its dark history decides to come alive. A cursed artifact, a possession and a murder keeps in line with classic horror stories. I am reminded slightly of Mr. King's thrillers along with other psychological-horror stories. I only wish that the story was a tad longer, but other than that, the plot twists throughout the story are truly ingenious. Well done. **I received this as part of a goodreads giveaway.

This was a great short book for me, since I don't care for long ones, except Stephen King stories. "A murderer's music box" was kinda like an old Stephen King story, it made me jump at some noises my house makes at night while I read it on my tablet. The multi twisted ending was cool. After listening to the sample on audible, I think i'm going to get it too. Although this author usually writes children's books, I think he did a great job with his first adult horror and I hope he continues to write m This was a great short book for me, since I don't care for long ones, except Stephen King stories. Goodreads Kindle Copy Win A couple moves to an old house with their daughter. The daughter senses that it is eerie as she keeps hearing music and wants to live elsewhere. The house has secrets that will soon terrorism them as it will take over. A quick read that has a few moments of scariness.

I received this book as a good reads giveaway. It was a short read and I was able to read it in one evening. The story had a great concept but it felt rushed where I think it could have been expanded for a more creepy feel. Parts that were explained for the authors benefit were useful but may not have been needed if it was longer and had more woven into the story itself. Overall I liked it.

A good story with a nice twist at the end.

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. Goodreads Kindle Copy Win This story was just horrible. The title was intriguing and the story line seemed very interesting, but the story itself was atrocious. The story was written as if by a 12 year old which made me not want to read it anyway. With it being only 142 pages I figured it wouldn't take too long. The descriptions and narrations were childish and the story line absolutely ridiculous. The author tries to add a twist to the end that made no sense. All in all, this read like a 6th gra Goodreads Kindle Copy Win This story was just horrible. I felt the daughter character was a tad bit childish and I got the impression that the authors were trying to bring back families from the 50's. I think that if the daughter as well as the parents had a little more edge to them the whole story would be great. After the sound effects I would rate this a solid 3.5 to a lower 4.0 stars.

Seriously over acted by Manuel Rose and Melissa Rose I could barely get through this book. A twelve year old,who waffles between sounding like a 6 year old and a 12 year old, and her famiy move to a haunted house on Horror Hill.Mayhem ensues.I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.

Ok maybe better suited for older children I thought it was a bit simple although the premise was interesting. T h e writing didn't flow for me. I didn't feel connected to the characters in the book. Somewhat interesting idea, but written like a child. The language was as if some 12 or 13 year old was writing the book. Repetitive descriptions of people, things. Weak character development, and a slow "quick" read. I expected a better story, I was disappointed. Somewhat interesting idea, but written like a child.
