“When Day and Night combine and fight against one Enemy, then Dark and Light shall meet mid-strike and set the Captives free.” In the wake of loss and devastation, Alex must cast aside her grief to seek aid from those who banished the Meyarins long ago. But the proud Tia Aurans care little for the woes of mortals and demand that Alex—and her friends—undergo the Gates of Test “When Day and Night combine and fight against one Enemy, then Dark and Light shall meet mid-strike and set the Captives free.” In the wake of loss and devastation, Alex must cast aside her grief to seek aid from those who banished the Meyarins long ago. But the proud Tia Aurans care little for the woes of mortals and demand that Alex—and her friends—undergo the Gates of Testing to prove their world is worth saving. With an ancient prophecy looming, Alex must confront the secrets of her past if she is to survive long enough to see the future. For if she returns to Medora without the Tia Aurans by her side, all hope will be lost. In this explosive conclusion to The Medoran Chronicles, the fate of Medora hangs in the balance as Alex readies herself to face Aven one final time. Who will survive, and who will fall? “If, however, darkness wins, there is no strategy to keep from all that will be lost, and so will always be.”

I'M DONE. It's all over, and my heart is breaking. I don't know what comes next in my life, now? I mean, other than, like, a billion re-reads. *** To be honest, I'm not sure I'm going to write a review for this one. I don't know if I can. I think if you've come this far, you've earned it. So I'm not going to say anything about the plot. Or th I'M DONE. It's all over, and my heart is breaking. I will say it was just as emotional as I expected it to be. There were highs; there were lows. I had to pause often because things were getting so intense. This is a worthy conclusion to an absolutely incredible story, and it has firmly taken up residence in my heart. The world of Medora is so rich and thriving with colour and magic and so many incredible characters that I'm certain we'll have the chance to return there one day. For now, though, I'm sad to say goodbye, but I'm so grateful for this book, and how everything played out. It felt ... right. And I have so much love for these characters that even though I don't want to leave them, I think they have earned their rest. *** Review for Akarnae (4★s) HERE Review for Raelia (5★s) HERE Review for Draekora (5★s) HERE Review for Graevale (5★s) HERE Review for We Three Heroes (4★s) HERE

I am a mess of emotions and I don't think I'll be able to get my thoughts and feelings across in a coherent review so bullet points for the win. • Straight up this book made me cry not once, not twice, but three times!!! I have stressed previously how rare this is for me. I did the maths. Around 2% of the books I read make me cry, and two books from that series are a part of that 2%. And again, three times!! • Not only did this book made me cry, I was even laughing while crying at one point. And again, three times!! • Not only did this book made me cry, I was even laughing while crying at one point. Like, how?!? • Pretty much this book made me an emotional mess and I had ALL THE FEELS. ALL OF THEM. • As always, Lynette Noni managed to write incredibly beautiful and vivid worlds that will forever stick in my brain and make me jealous that I can't actually visit them. • This book was a bit predictable at times but it also managed to wallop me over the head as well so... • Kaidan. I fucking love the dude, and he's the epitome of respectful, loveable, strong, mature, kind-hearted, amazing, I could go on love interest, but he's a little too perfect. I don't think I spotted a single flaw in him in this book. • Dragons!! Well, Draekons, but semantics. Dragons!! • (view spoiler)[That reunion with Xira was exactly what I wanted and I didn't even realise it. Ugh *Italian chef kiss* perfection. (hide spoiler)] • Alex. I love her to bits, but she can be a bit dumb at times. I'm trying to put it down to the fact that she had the literal weight of a world hanging on her shoulders, so you could say her mind was a bit preoccupied, but still. Think woman, think! • (view spoiler)[I would have loved it if Bear & Declan were confirmed to be together in this book, but at the same time I definitely think their relationship will be a slow burn one and will need more time than this book allowed to develop. (hide spoiler)] • Read the acknowledgements at the end and thank me later because: • (view spoiler)[THERE WILL BE MORE BOOKS ABOUT MEDORA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank fucking god. (hide spoiler)] • Did... Did Lynette Noni just hint that she'd be releasing three books this year? Omg, pls pls pls. I need. And with that I wrap up my most amazing, highly professional review that eloquently, and actually does succinctly convey my thoughts about this book. I fucking love it. 14th January 2019 I have been following the author on Facebook for ages now, and only just realised this has been pushed back until February 18th. Just after starting Akarnae, which means I'll finish rereading the rest of the series with a bigger gap than I anticipated before being able to pick this up. Why cruel world?!? 23rd April 2018 Both dying for this book and hoping it never arrives because that means the end of this amazing series 😭😭

What a way to end this fantastic that i have come to love and enjoy over the last three and half years, thank you Lynette for writing this amazing series. Plot: This book picks up after the events from the pervious book and Alex is now making her way to Tia Auras to try get the people to come join her fight against Aven and hopefully end up winning this war. I have really enjoyed reading this story and watching it grow from where we first met Alex and how much of a long this story has matured and gone. Most of this book is spent in Tia Auras where Alex and her friends must compete in 6 different task that will test them and finally get help from the civilisation living there. A lot of these challenges test Alex with not only herself but also her friends, i did love how everything was brought into the open and everyone started to learn the truth with how things became so bad. Alex for the all of this book is trying to fight between doing what is right and what is wrong but also is trying to fight her emotions after the traumatic fight that took place in the pervious book that resulted in the deaths of some pretty important characters. I think the biggest death that Alex struggled with the most with was Nyix because of how much of a close bond they had with each other and for me it was the hardest death apart from Bear's dad that left me crying. I love Alex and how big her friends mean to her and friendship plays such a big role in this story and all the friendships are so well written that it makes me want to be apart of that friendship group. Alex relies on her friends as her friends rely on her for all different sort of things which i found to be so heart warming. may the light be your guide. Characters: Alex Jennings: Alex has matured so much since the first book and she has kept her composure so well even when things are revealed with everyone which makes her such a strong female lead. She fights with so much in this book because she literally has the world at her shoulders with trying to literally save every single life from Aven but she is managing to keep her sh*t together real well and more than i would ever be able to. Alex and Kaiden also have a very flirty relationship in this book and more than any of the others and i'm glad that Alex finally let her guard down with him and finally let him in more. These two have been back and fourth ever since he was introduced in book three and i'm glad that they are finally together. Alex made one of the biggest and ballsy moves i thought that she made in the entire series and that was to trap Aven in a painting rather than kill him. I feel like this was the most mature and adult thing i could have ever imagined for any YA character so i give props to Lynette for writing this for Alex to do. Jordan Sparker: Along with the other main group of characters i think Jordan has been through nearly everything imaginable and probably more. Jordan is still trying to come down from being claimed by Aven which to me is still really sitting heavy on his mind and rightly so. Jordan doesn't get anytime to relax however because he is thrown with Alex into the Tia Auran's world where he is also put to the test with the task they have been set. I think about time it was time for Jordan to finally learn the truth with how Alex claimed him and set him free but he also doesn't take this well which is a normal reaction but he soon sees sense and apologises to Alex and i think as i said before these characters have all matured so much since the first book its great to see them making adult decisions. After Jordan finds out his father was never claimed by Aven i think he does the mature thing and decides to stay away from his mother after all the horrible things they did to him as he was growing up, However i would like to see a reunion between him and his mother so i could find out how his mum felt about what they did to him. Bear Ronnigan: Bear is one of my favourite characters in this entire series and i was with him when his father was killed and i was equally upset that it happened. I think Bear does a lot holding back in this one due to him still trying to process the death of his dad but i still find it so brave of him for coming to help Alex in her quest. Bear gets help from all of his friends in different ways which i found so good because each friend was bringing help in their own different ways. I do however found that Declan and Bear had a little something going on but i'm not sure if i'm reading into that a little to much it was just an observation that i had i could be really wrong though. It was good to see how Bear dealt with his dads passing in We three heroes and i was glad his family supported him with going to help Alex and i really just love the whole Ronnigan family. Delucia Cavelle aka D.C: D.C along with Bear is one of my favourite characters of this series and it's good to see a royal princess turn out to be this badass fighter who is capable of not just sitting from the sidelines and actually getting into the fighting to save her kingdom. I love the change D.C has had from the first book where she is reserved and very nasty towards everyone to see her in this final book where she has a friendship with Alex, Bear, Kaiden and Declan and a relationship with Jordan its a very big change. As i said in my Graevale review the change D.C has shown with showing us her stand off persona to becoming this warrior type princess who's ready to fight aven and his army and do the dirty work where most princess would be just sitting back waiting for the war to be over not D.C she's the total opposite which is why i like her. Jordan and D.C are just one of the best pairings i've had the chance to read and of course at first i didn't think it would work as i said in my Graevale review but during the course of this book i've come to see how they really do care for each other and are ready to fight for each other its just amazing how powerful Lynettes story telling is. Kaiden James: I really enjoyed the fact that Kaiden was introduced as not the main characters love interest straight way because it would have ruined this characters image for me. I'm glad we slowly get to know Kaiden from when he's introduced right up until this last book where he really proves himself a lot. Kaiden has proven himself time and time again all throughout this series with how much of a capable fighter he is. At first i wasn't on board with Alex and Kaiden but as i read the other books these two just work really well together and even though there very different to each other they just fit. During Vardaesia i think Kaiden really helps keep Alex grounded and helps her during the tough decisions she has to make but doesn't outrightly push her in one direction he just simply guides her and brings her back if she thinks she can't do anything which i really loved. Declan Stirling: Declan is the best friend of Kaiden and these two are joined at the hip while at Akarnae so it's only natural that he would accompany Kaiden and help Alex during her test that she has to do. Declan is one of those friends who is always willing to help people and knows just the right thing to say in any different situation which i found a great thing to have. Declan really helps bear in this book a lot as Declan has dealt with the deaths with most of his family so i think these two really hit if off straight away. I do have a little feeling that these two might have been a thing that wasn't outwardly said but implied but i could be really wrong. Aven Dalmarta: Aven is one of those characters that i love to hate for various reasons and especially when Alex goes back in time and he really got me liking him in book three where Alex accidentally does something that puts Aven on this past to kill humans. Aven is such a cunning character though because he can get you to like him straight away but as soon as you peal away those layers that this character has you start to see what a complete psycho he really his but he also does it in a charming way. I'm glad that Aven didn't get the huge death that most books like this have but i think he should defiantly suffer in that painting after everything he had done. Is, was, and forever will be, Alex mused. And I thought the Library couldn’t get any more mysterious This book had so much death as in a war you'd expect but it still pulled at my heart strings and made me cry in so many different parts of this book and Lynettes writing for this series has been exceptional. The scene with Alex and Nyix was one of my most favourite in this book because Nyix just knows the right things to say to Alex to get her to keep fighting when she wants to give up, it was a truly beautiful final scene these two got to share. Well that comes to an end on Alex's story and i'm sad but incredibly happy with how things were wrapped up i could have not asked for a better ending to this part of the story. I almost threw my book to learn that Lynette will be writing in this world again so the story will continue very soon and i will welcome this world back into my life when this does happen. But for now i will say goodbye to Alex, Jordan, Bear, D.C, Kaiden, Declan and the rest of the characters from the Medoran Chronicles who i've come to love over the last three and half years. This isn' the end and i'm happy it's not. To those who dare hope for a brighter future. Let your light shine. and remember Embrace The Wonder

But without a choice, the daily Gates of Testing trials, of which they had to pass each one to prove to the Tia Aurans their world was worth saving, would be a true test for them all. What would happen when Alex and her friends returned to Medora? What had been happening in the time they’d been away? And could Alex face Aven one final time and win? The alternative didn’t bear thinking about… Vardaesia – the 5th and the conclusion, to the Medoran Chronicles (actually the 6th because of #4.5) – by Aussie author Lynette Noni was amazing! It’s heartbreaking that it’s over – but perhaps it’s not. At the end, our author says, “But prepare to venture back to Medora again one day…and Tia Auras too.” So I now have everything crossed that she’ll write more, and soon! Vardaesia was action packed from beginning to end, heartbreakingly sad yet filled with hope, caring and love, and it was great to catch up with old friends – Xira, Alex’s draekon; Soraya, Alex’s wolf; Niyx who was her dearest friend – and many more. The Medoran Chronicles was a series I thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

After binge reading most of the Medoran Chronicles last year, I’m totally swept away by the creativity and the addictiveness of this series! I loved how this book stays true to the tone of the series and the conclusion is everything you ever hoped for. From Alex first discovering the Akarnae Academy, to learning about her abilities and gathering allies against Aven, it’s been an incredible journey from start to finish – and we couldn’t have asked for a better end to the journey! Having read the first four books in rapid succession (and with little sleep) about a year ago, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the final book in The Medoran Chronicles, Vardaesia, and I’m glad to say it did not disappoint. There are some surprises along the way, and I loved how Lynette Noni wrapped this story up. While I’m sad that this series has come to an end, Noni has signalled her plans to revisit Medora in the future, so I’ll look forward to that.

Absolutely phenomenal ending to what has been a breathtaking journey of strength, courage and friendship. The Medoran Chronicles has been an Australian institution for the last four years and five books and a novella series later, it's finally come to an end. OHMYGOSH! This series was honestly so spectacularly phenomenal! One of THE MOST exciting and fun series I've EVER read! Honestly, I have no words for how amazing the characters, the world, the adventures were... Let's start the book by talking abut how amazing Alex is. Ohh look more amazing Alex notes Ohh the battles was hard.... for everyone but Alex Better get help from a new far off place.. Better talk about her scale skin again that is magically hidden all the time. Like her secret sword, her amazing combat skills. Like seriously how much can one character be truly blessed with all the gifts... she isn't bloody Dumbledore Again Alex has to prove herself worthy... what a shock. Let me guess we spend the whole book trying to prove how worthy she is? Oh look she is put into a skimpy outfit like a fake wonder woman... gotta get that sex appeal. **Side note though... I mean if some strangers came into your land and you want them to battle it out why are you going to dress them up like a sexy wonder woman? Stick them in the pit with the clothes they already have on... or maybe in some jelly and have them naked wrestle... just saying... Alex having internal struggles.. ohhh noooo the silver platter life is soo hard and stressful. But still dressed like royalty... Umm bitch you're an intruder... why is she always treated like a queen? Playful banter is dulll like a dead bird.. none of the characters original sparks are in this book. Where is the original banter? I feel as though this has all been said before? Over explaining... Again Oh look Alex is having internal struggles again.... Ooops need to mention how amazing Alex is with her training and the tests Niyx put her through and her Meyarin blood.. Again Seriously why did NIxy die... He was one character I loved. 3 pages on planning to climb the mountain.. 3 whole pages. Of course the challenge has survival kits and water along the way. Wouldn't want the precious characters to actually struggle. Still climbing the mountain by the way.. Isn't there a war going on? I love how the war pauses for the characters to undergo challenges. War is sitting back and having a tea break while Alex is on a mission to prove herself. Oh look they keep beating challenges how is Alex this amazing all the time. Doesn't her body burst for all this awesomeness Over explaining.. Another friend betrayal but it's okay they still love each other... this will happen ten more times. Ohh look the challenges of Alex and her friends proving herself is still ongoing like I thought it would. Alex fighting a warrior with a blade and winning.. All young teenagers do right?? Page 244 still carrying out the test... War is just casually waiting for Alex to prove herself... Again Oh look her friends get kidnapped... Who will save them? Oh no! I like Aven he should be allowed to kill Alex, you know just as a side note. Oh nooo they have her parents too... How is this possible Ohhh Alex rescues everyone. Who would have thought The dragon Xira dies but Alex lives... What fucked up shit is this.. she must be able to reverse time or something Oh wait she legit just changed time... wow she might be a better wizard then Dumbledore after all. Ohh look now everyone is saved. Glad those last what 50 pages were saved for the battle... Don't get me wrong I fricken love Lynette's writing style and will be purchasing her other series as it comes out (I still have yet to read Whisper) but what bugs me is the character and story flaws in this book. All the gifts are given to Alex. All the challenges are easy for Alex. She doesn't seem to struggle and this is setting up the wrong kinda image, life aint this damn easy and it would have been nice for other characters to actually have some awesome stuff happen to them instead of the oh favourite Alex. I would literally have given this book a 5 stars if Aven stabbed Alex in the head with a fork...

All the stars I can give it This series has been amazing and it's a bit sad that it's over really. I remember starting it and thinking that it was just a standard YA read with standard YA tropes but it just hooked me. The world building Is a massive part of that. Just phenomenal. Alex Is such a great leader and I love how she's not perfect. She's always in it up to her neck but her fighting spirit and never say die attitude is inspirational. I also love the friendships and how that bond is stressed as such an important thing. Bear, Jordan, Kaiden, and also Avenue are important and crucial to everything. Dix or D.C though is my favourite ( who doesn't love a kick arse princess) and really shines in this one. She's not perfect but she is unstoppable which I love. The plot is pretty standard really for YA fiction. There's not a lot of surprises or twists it turns and mostly you can see what's coming but that's fine. The dialogue deserves a special mention as it will make you laugh, Snicker, cry and scream. It's brilliantly done and phenomenal writing. So witty, so biting, so cutting, so so good I will say though this one ramped up the violence and mayhem to the max. There's a bit in the others but it went way up here. It was over the top but in a good way. It very much reminded me of professional wrestling which I'm s big fan of. Scripted to a tried and tested formula it may be but it's always always entertaining. You just can't turn away even though you know what's going to happen. Soapies use the same formula. People just get hooked by it. So an amazing series comes to an end but hopefully not final conclusion. I really hope we see more from this series as it's too great not to see again. Cannot recommend it highly enough. A must read for lovers of YA and fantasy fiction.

This whole series is honestly so addicting! And Vardaesia is a very satisfying conclusion to it. Yes, the whole series suffers a bit too much from the Chosen One syndrome but, what the hell, it's still so enjoyable. The characters and the world are so fleshed out that it's very easy to immerse oneself in the story which, ultimately, makes it harder to let go of. I will miss the characters and the world so much. After reading the 5 books apart of this series, I finally now know how it all ends. After everything, Alex did save the world and the hardships she endured, and her friends and family literally dying before she went back in time to save them, we didn't really get to see a proper reunion between her friends, or how she was going to deal with all the trauma. It ended with her being applauded by everyone, and then it was done. So I do wish we had a little more, but then again it was a solid ending to an amazing series. The number of people who sacrificed their lives for this battle, the number of people who died and got tortured by this man, Aven. The preparation she had to defeat him for everything he did. So yes I was pretty disappointed to find out that Aven's punishment was being locked away in a painting in the Library? This guy was literally EATING people's hearts, he was torturing and manipulating people in the most horrific ways, but Alex gave her reasons and I guess being trapped in a painting isolated from everyone for the rest of your life is still adequate enough. (Also, I still think Aven was being a little dramatic because Aven got rejected by a mortal who he thought was immortal, and therefore felt embarrassed that he'd been lied to so he decided to literally kill the entire human race as well as everyone Alex loves... just me?) But these don't excuse how amazing it has been to read this series, and how much I love these characters, and what a journey it's been. So a solid 4 stars, because the pros outweigh the cons, and I enjoyed this so much and it makes me so sad to finish this series, but I can't wait until the author releases more books in this world, because I adore it.

At all. I loved most of the books before this (the last 100 pages of Graevale probably excluded), but this ending is so sloppy, so HORRIBLY paced and really poorly done overall. Everyone dies but then oh no, Alex has a cheat code up her sleeve, reverses time, saves everyone and also pushes Aven into a painting and woo crisis over. I cannot express enough how much this pained me to read. Granted, I dumbed the plot down but like c'mon. It's still bad. Don't read this book please. Just make up your own ending yourself. It'll probably be better than what's in here.

Yes, FINALLY. I have literally put this book off since it came out. Unfortunately I was disappointed by Graevale. I read that book twice to see if I changed my mind but I didn't. I loved Alex's character development in this book the most out of all books in the series. I felt the most connected to her here. This being said, I do find it a little unfortunate that character and plot development of this degree mostly happened in the 5th book of a 5-book series. A lot of this was slow burn, but I think things could have been pushed further by this point. I think this book could have been darker and pushed limits even more (but then again this series is meant to be family-friendly for the most part, so I do understand). In summary, a good conclusion but I'm relieved this isn't the end of possibilities in the Medoran world.

😍😍*insert neverending synonyms for perfect*😍😍 “Don’t fear the shadows. Make the shadows fear you.” I’m not ashamed to say, I first picked up this series because of the gorgeous cover art. Make the shadows fear you.” I’m not ashamed to say, I first picked up this series because of the gorgeous cover art. Secondly, the plot seemed amazing—a hidden world, a school of magic (or interesting science), students with abilities of similar to X-men, a magic library, long lost races and plenty of fun inventions which I wish we could use. The world of Medora continues to expand with this installment and I’m always eager to find out more beautiful and quirky things Lynette Noni reveals about the Medorans. In this book, Alexandra Jennings is making her final attempt, together with her friends, fellow students and teachers to save Medora from the banished prince, Aven. It is nice to see how Alex has found her rhythm in the world. Although, it created some entertaining moments in the first books when she had just arrived and had no idea what was going on. Her overdose on Dillyberry Juice still makes me smile. She has also grown to hold her tongue in respect for elders or monarchy of other races. In these moments, the Alex at the beginning of the series would have mouthed off whatever she felt was most important at that moment, no matter who she was talking to. Instead, she seems to have realised the weight of her role and that she needs to give respect to gain it from the races which they need help from. Unlike the worlds of many other young adult fantasy series, it’s refreshing that Alex’s parents are alive, and even though they have interests of their own, they still love each other as a family. Alex’s friends are still so important to her. I like that she attempts to check in with them individually to make sure they are going ok, despite all their losses and the looming battles. The relationship between Alex and Kaiden is so gentle and it didn’t distract from the main plot—saving the world was most important to them, no matter what it took. Alex had plenty of surprises for her friends, and they for her. Despite the significance of the events happening at the close of the war with Aven, there were many humorous moments. The reactions of Alex and her friends to other races and their decorating style, had me laughing and is so typical of human nature. I was genuinely scared for the characters at certain points. They go through so much both physically and mentally/emotionally. Friendships are tested in the worst ways possible. There are so many moments which made me cry, both good and bad. Plus, the ending was wonderfully and tragically unexpected in how it was resolved. This is Lynette Noni’s first series, and as a fellow Australian, I’m so excited for her success, especially with Vardaesia topping the charts. She is so cool! Check out her acknowledgments in the book—they’re the best I’ve read. Somehow it’s really obvious in this book that Lynette is friends with Sarah J Maas (internal squeal!). She has hinted that Vardaesia is not the end of The Medoran Chronicles. Can’t wait to see what further wonders she will create. “To those who dare hope for a brighter future. Let your light shine.” More reviews at www.mareekoenders.com

It’s been a while since I almost hesitantly read the last page of a book, not wanting to bring these characters and story to a close. I adored everything about this last book. It had everything a conclusion needed to satisfy. High stakes? Check. Tears of joy and heartache? Check. Adventure? Check. A fierce final battle? Double check. These characters have grown so much and the new ones introduced along the way only served to better the story. In the end there were so many characters I loved it was impossible for them all to get enough page time. After their noticeable absence in book 4 I was beyond excited to see both Xira and Roka again. Alex is one of the best heroines I’ve read about in a while. At no stage did she become irritating or mind numbingly stupid in her decision making (I find this a common trait amongst YA fantasy heroines). Even when she and Kaiden finally got together she was focused on her responsibilities and I love that she didn’t just become love struck and incapable of still being herself. She was so strong but also vulnerable and it made her so endearing. I loved her character growth and was really impressed with her overall storyline. I still feel a little indifferent to her human friends (except Bear I have a soft spot for him). D.C was just meh and Jordan got really annoying. Her immortal friends however were the true sidekicks of the story. The Meyarins, the Draekorans, the Tia Aurans, I found them all so fascinating. However Niyx will forever remain the best character in the Medoran Chronicles. Is it terrible that I still feel some semblance of affection for Aven? He’s a terrible monster beyond forgiveness but I still ache at the memory of who he once was and it makes me so sad. But he was irredeemable and I’m glad Lynette Noni didn’t attempt to redeem him. He was too far gone but I miss the Aven he once was. I also loved that even though we were in the final book there was still time for one more adventure. I found Tia Auras wildly interesting and a refreshing detour that still contributed to the story. The gates of testing were awesome, moving us forward whilst also reminding us of all the past plot points that have shaped these books. It was also exciting knowing they would eventually return to Medora and face Aven one final time. Lynette Noni you finished this series with the promise of returning to Medora. I don’t need to know any details I will just be there.

All up I really enjoyed the final book in The Medoran Chronicles along with the rest of the series, however there were a few things in 'Vardaesia' that I didn't like as much. However, once Alex and co get back to fight Aven everything happens so quickly. I think a part of what made it feel rushed were the lists of names of the dead. Lyn just seemed to wrap up everything rather neatly and quickly, especially in the contexts of how much of the book was spent in another world. It just didn't really seem balanced to me. (hide spoiler)] Another thing that I didn't like was how on numerous occasions there seemed to be a few lines missing (view spoiler)[ When Alex talks to other characters and makes plans the conversation would stop abruptly, generally missing out of the key step of the plan. I get that it means the plans are a secret until the event occurs (possibly intended to create drama and suspense), nevertheless, it felt as if segments were missing. (hide spoiler)] . On a more positive note, I love some of the new characters we are introduced to in this book. And I still ship Declan and Bear!! It was a bittersweet read at times as well, in particular at any mention of Niyx (and Xira (and Kaiden too I guess)) - why all my favourite characters from this series are guys I do not really know. The reason why my rating is so high is because I love Lyn as a person (and as an author) and I have really enjoyed reading this series. If Lyn wasn't the author I think my rating may be lower.

This book finished the Medoran Chronicles on a really high note. The Medoran chronicles overall is a story of hope, friendship and love, with great themes, plot twists and characters that you’ll wish are real.

My rating is closer to a 2.5. This is not the strongest book in the series. More than half the book is spent on a plot line with little/no payoff and the book is dominated by a romantic relationship that seems more of a page filler than a meaningful plot device/enhancer. There are several smaller conflicts that again, do not work to enhance the plot/character development, but instead seem like a montage intended to remind the reader of the higher drama moments in the series before the book ends.
