I don’t know if these books are becoming less informative or if I’m just looking for different things, but this is not the lonely planet I remember. The book is divided up confusingly and it feels hard to piece together experiences because of this. But perhaps other, or even most, people don’t need a guidebook broken up geographically to be helpful. It seems it would make sense to discuss each island at a time, which is not exactly how this is done. And some of the last chapter elements about culture seem like they would be worthy things to frontload. In any case, I still learned things to help me plan my trip, but this was less helpful than Lonely Planet books I’ve read in the past.

I love this guidebook. I read the entire thing. It’s a good book for those just looking for the true highlights of the island, or for those with a lot of knowledge and having a hard time narrowing things down. I like how it supplies a lot of maps and itinerary suggestions to.

Not at all the type of comprehensive content I expected from Lonely Planet. Reads like a random collection of musings on Hawaii. Where are the listings of places to stay, restaurants? Not at all helpful in trip planning

Really not what I wanted. This is a curated experience book. I want all the info and to make my own decisions.

While not necessarily suitable for details, DISCOVER HAWAII would be helpful for choosing which islands to visit based on the top experiences listed, and each experience gives a general itinerary, including food options. Does not highlight any lodging.
