I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. I wasn't sure what to think when I first started reading this book. But it slowly grabs you and pulls you in. The book starts out with Kipp losing his mother. Then it switches to Petra, who is a symbiont and a historian. She has traveled back in to the time of the cave men along with her lupine companion who is killed protecting Petra. Petra cannot get back to her time, so she makes the best of being helpful to the cave dwellers. After a natural disast I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. Petra cannot get back to her time, so she makes the best of being helpful to the cave dwellers. After a natural disaster, she is left alone. Kipp comes upon her and they recognize each other for what they truly are. Together they get home. Kipp is introduced to other Symbionts as well as modern conveniences, such as riding in a car, and going through the fast food lane. Kipp takes it upon himself to "mother" a little kitten he finds. Soon Lily is becoming a part of their daily lives. After recuperating from the travel to the prehistoric time period, Petra and Kipp prepare for their next time traveling adventure. An early English settlement near the Roanoke area. For some reason the Symbionts think it's their job to make sure humans survive. How? That isn't fully explained, but there are Symbionts who don't hold to that ideal. So when it comes to time travelling, the Symbiont is walking a fine line. They have to be careful of what they say and do so as not to affect the timeline in any negative way. Also, if one of the bonded Symbionts is killed there is no way for the other to return home. The author did a wonderful job in her descriptions of living in prehistoric times and with the early English settlement. I look forward to reading the next book in the series!

A good read about Animals and Time Travel "I received a copy of this book from eBook Discovery in exchange for my honest review." I didn't know what to expect from this book as it is the first T.L.B. This book was given to Marjorie Mindel on instaFreebie. What a treat it was to read the Symbiont (A Time Travel Fantasy) It starts in our planet's prehistoric past, moves to the present day, and back to one of the missing colonies near Roanoke, N.C., the Land's Point Colony. They barely manage to return to the present day, but determined to keep time traveling. This story touches on the deep anguish of loved ones lost, of the union of two souls joined between two seeming species, to become as one sentient being. We see personal loss, loyalty, love and self-sacrifice for one's loved ones. The Symbiont is a true love story, but not the traditional kind between two humans. It seems that canines have always truly been the better half of humans. This is a wonderful read that makes one evaluate one's priorities in life, a provoking, but satisfying read.

A fantastic story of love, friendship upon the time. The story is set in a community of symbiotic ("human beings" and "canine beings") with unimaginable powers / abilities. The main characters, Petra and Kipp, are able to travel through time and an ever-changing world and new mysteries it appears to him in front of them. It is a book suitable for all that involves you to the last page. I received this book from eBook Discovery in exchange for an honest review A fantastic story of love, friendship upon the time. Sorry, but despite a relatively entertaining story concept, I was not impressed with how it was carried out. The language seemed a little high-minded, particularly the use of the word "disapprobation", which appeared no less than six times, in 220 pages. Being aimed at young adults I probably would have gone with disapproval, with which they would certainly be familiar. Perhaps it was on a "Word-of-the-day" calendar, while the book was being written. I was also curious as to how, and when, the "symbiont race" was started. I just found too many irritating glitches, and I'm one who's more than willing to suspend belief, when the book is well-written. This is a series, with at least seven total volumes. Based on this one, and the tease of the second, at the end of this book, I won't be investing either time, or money, on any more.
