If you avoid the issue of too much information about past lovers then it is a good book. I find this book more clear than ‘The Alien’s touch’ her other book. As this is a series some of the main issues in the book wasn’t resolved. Still likable heroine and honorable hero who was a sweetheart. Eventhough they both had many hookups in the past.( yes! I’m still not over that😕) Recommended.

Eh. I didn't know this was a two part book. It didn't end on a cliff hanger so that's great but yeah, it's a two part and I don't think I'm gonna bother reading the next one. It's a mood thing really. But honestly, it was pretty much interchangeable with most other Alien romances. It did feel like some things were overly explored but like I said, the two part makes sense of that. I liked that our h was a chef. That one's new, usually they're doctors or waitresses or something. "Have you never heard of the words self-control?!" I'm pretty sure y'all know the type Lol! :p The H was a sweety. I don't think I've ever really read an Alien romance where the hero wasn't particularly attentive and oh so sensitive to their female's "needs" and "feelings". Rofl! xD Don't ask me why I'm laughing, I just can't seem to stop. :p But it was kinda hot, so I'll give it that...

Not the usual captured by a alien tale. The author establishes a really good background of the hero and heroine. The descriptions of the planet's and spaceship are easy to picture without being overdone. The romance develops in just a few days in space but not a wham bam thank you ma'am. Best to read Warriors of Luxiria series first as this one takes place after. Devix is the exiled brother of a War General but he's innocent of the convicted crime. He's a mercenary but decides to not turn his captive over to the male who bought her. Meeting his fated mate brings him out of his downward spiral and the two find love and strength in each other. 3 stars! I enjoyed Devix and I liked Cara! Their chemistry was great and their smut was HOT AF! This book has a plot but I felt like it got resolved so so quickly and while I know it wasn’t the purpose of the book, I still think it was dealt with too quickly. I am craving more of these two as well and I happen he gets to prove his innocence in the second part!

For such a mellow read this was surprisingly really good. I usually prefer more to happen or be going on, but somehow, even without a lot of action, this just sucked me in. I really liked the characters and it was easy to imagine the world created here. I found myself often wishing for a Luxirian of my own because damn were Devix's actions sweet or hot. I think what I liked the most about Cara was that she was a practical girl. Unlike how too often we get someone who freaks out about everything and is determined to get back to Earth no matter how fucking stupid her plans are, Cara took all the information she could get and weighed her fate and choices. Maybe you could say she was simply resigned (which she really wasn't) but it was refreshing to not get pissed off at the female for repeatedly doing such ridiculously stupid things. I loved Devix. Talk about a tortured soul. Devix was accused of a crime on his home planet that should have meant his death, but his brother was able to convince their ruler to banish him instead. Devix was completely innocent, but the longer he dwells on it the more he starts to believe he truly was a monster. One that no longer deserves any happiness. After living on brutal planet where he becomes completely unrecognizable for a while, he is given the chance at leaving by becoming another's mercenary. And he takes it. Cara was kidnapped from Earth and ended up someplace called The Pit where aliens fight over the right to claim the taken females. The one who wins her is offered a great deal of money for her so she ends up on another planet not knowing what's going to happen to her. Devix was the one sent to retrieve her for his boss. Should have been an easy job, and would have been his last. Upon delivery he would be freed of his service and also given the proof of his innocence so he could finally go home. The very last thing he expected was the female he's sent to purchase would be his fated mate. At first he's determined to do his job and go back to his people, but the more he's around Cara the more he realizes that that is impossible. You can't deny a fated mate bond. But boy does he try. Cara feels that she is safe with her new captor and that she can trust him so she is bold with her questions and requests. She asks Devix for honesty and she gets it. Knowing what's coming she asks Devix to train her how to fight. He's reluctant, but eventually agrees. So during their trip, which should have only taken six days, they train...and start to fall for the other more. Until Devix finally decides that he's going to keep her and figure out a way to keep them safe. Cara is surprised that Devix has chosen her over his freedom, but the more she learns about him the more she falls in love with him. And for a while, the two of them live in such happiness that Cara starts to worry. For good reason too because finally Devix's old employer has finally tracked them down. But nothing will stand in the way of a Luxirian male when his fated mate is threatened. I thought this ended great the way it did, but if the next book ever goes on sale for cheaper I will jump at that and check it out.

This is the first book of a spin-off series of Warriors of Luxiria. The interesting thing is that both of the main characters were introduced in that series, albeit in a very minor way. Devix is brother to Rixavox and his transgression and subsequent banishment were discussed in The Alien’s Touch. Cara was standing next to Kate, in the pits in The Alien’s Prize. she was the one who explained what was going on to Kate. While Cara wasn’t selected by a victor in that book, her time came in this one. The pit fighter that won her sold her to a mafia type named Sarkon. He had one of his mercenaries, Devix, go pick her up and deliver her to his harem. Along the way, his instinct lights up he realizes that she is his fated mate. He’s not sure he can let her go. I loved reading a book in this genre where the MFC isn’t straining the bounds of credulity by thinking she can steal a ship and fly it back to earth and constantly whining about it. Cara is pretty pragmatic about her circumstances. She’s pretty sure that she’s never going to see earth again. I found her “roll with the punches” outlook to be refreshing and endearing. Devix may have a rough exterior - given what he’s been through the past 6 years, but he’s so sweet with Cara. She asked him never to lie to her, and he doesn’t. Even if it will hurt, he tells her the truth, but in that truth they find the beginnings of a relationship built on trust. I heartily recommend this book, but I do think you should read the Warriors of Luxiria series first. While you won’t be lost if you don’t, you will have a richer reading experience if you do. This book is definitely for 18+

The Petrika Colony was a filthy, disgusting place, filled with the dregs of society. They all kept away from Devix, a well-trained Luxirian mercenary warrior who had himself spent some time there when he was wrongly convicted of a crime he didn’t commit and was exiled. He had hoped never to return. But this was the last task he had to complete to earn his freedom. He was to pick up a pleasure slave purchased by Sarkon, a disgusting creature -- then his account would be settled. Cara Call was caged and chained, having been abducted by aliens right from her bed back on Earth! Each breath she took in this horrible place made her want to gag. Suddenly the bar went totally quiet, all eyes turned to the alien who just entered. Cara peeked up from under her hood and had a strong reaction to the 7-foot alien looking back at her. Money exchanged hands, and she knew she had just been purchased. Cara asked the alien where he was taking her. Devix ignored her questions, but she continued pressing him until he finally admitted he could understand her language. He was actually amused at her brave snarky response to him; others would never dare. He had felt the Instinct begin to awaken, which would mean that she was his fated mate – but he figured it was only because he had not been with a female in a very long time. Fated mates were very rare gifts from the Fates. She was not his and he had to deliver her to his boss who had purchased her. Until then, he would train her in the basics of defending herself, even though he should be the one defending her himself. But Cara is also drawn to the brooding alien, and she seeks him out on the bridge where he watches the stars and drinks Brew. Night after night, they quietly meet together so she can ask questions, and they get to know and trust each other. Devix knows the time is getting short and he has to deliver Cara to Sarkon to live in his harem and a cage. But his heart rebels at the thought. She is his luxiva; he feels the pull more strongly each day. But his own freedom, the clearing of his name so he can return to his beloved Luxiria, depends on his completing his final mission as a mercenary. Which will he choose? An uncertain future? Risk all on a woman who wants to return home? How important is the freedom he has fought so long to regain? I am absolutely mesmerized by this extraordinary book! I loved the Luxiria Warrior series already. But this exiled Warrior on Rozun left me speechless. At every page, I kept murmuring that this story line couldn’t get any better – but it did! Right up until the last page, it was wonderful. I don’t normally feel such strong emotions from my reading, but I had a hard time holding back. Seriously, if you buy no other book, buy this one. It touches the heart and will leave you amazed. (I already purchased Book 2 on pre-order!!!)

In the process of the six day journey, a true relationship begins – first when she asks him to teach her some self-defense moves in the time they have together and as they start to talk & open up to each other and share experiences, their bond begins in earnest as the heat builds. Devix is typical of his race, known for their talents on the battlefield and in the bedroom ("fighting & f*cking" as the author calls it) - it's their overriding sense of honor, having the highest regard for females (of any race) that wins the readers hearts. He recognized Clara as his fated mate but tries to deny it at first but Clara has other ideas about a relationship which leaves him unable to deny their bond. The decision to not deliver her to the purchaser but to keep her leaves plenty of hot sexual tension between them that moves into very steamy sex once they arrive at Devix's adopted home planet. Plenty of assumptions on both sides and trying to do the ‘right thing’ leads to drama on all sides. This is another of Zoey’s great alien romances and while you don’t have to read the Luxirian Warrior series to get this book, you’ll recognize the character of Devix and his brother if you have read them (it was nice to see that continuation!). Excellent story, good pace and I love the ending, am looking forward to the next book about these two as their relationship grows.

Another fun Sci-Fi romance from an author who’s previous series, Warriors of Luxiria, I thoroughly enjoyed! The first thing Devix realizes about Cara is that she is his fated mate. That’s playing havoc with his desire to clear his name. Beyond that, Cara is truly no shrinking violet. She may be “just” a fragile human but her tenacity and determination surprises Devix. Cara is not pleased that she, once again, is taken captive by an alien. But when Devix takes her to his spacecraft, shows her to her own room, allows her to wander around the ship, she’s aware he may be different from her previous captors. Add that he is brutally honest with her when others didn’t even bother to acknowledge her in a civilized way, and she’s weirdly attracted to him and...the fun begins! This is a fun story that will draw you in to Devix and Cara’s world! I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book, however, this is my honest opinion.

I have no idea why I've been on such a trashy science fiction romance kick, but I have been. I grew up reading science fiction which often had romantic elements, but when you start adding romance tropes in, I start backing away. I think I have a tendency to separate my romance reading (where I demand a happy ending and am willing to overlook implausible human actions to get it) from my non-romance reading (where I will think things like "but he dressed up as a pirate and kidnapped her, that just I have no idea why I've been on such a trashy science fiction romance kick, but I have been. There is, however, an entire genre of science fiction romance, usually explicit, which I've sometimes seen described as the "Mars Needs Women" trope - earth women are usually sexually desirable to a vast number of alien species (some of which are gross), and the hero is generally an alien (not gross) with interesting junk. They are often fated mates. There may be humorous miscommunications at some point. In some ways they feel like women-centered and women-written updates of John Carter of Mars or (shudder) Gor. Anyway, this is definitely one of those books, and an enjoyable example of the genre. Am I desperate to read everything the author's written? No. Will I read the sequel? Probably.

If you’re reading an alien/sci-fi romance, you already know that you will have to stretch your imagination. However I actually enjoy the books by this author and I genuinely like the characters. A hidden gem I came across this book as I was leaving a review on another book. It caught my attention, and I'm glad that it did. Now, the one thing that had me saying, "really" a time or to too, was the amount of sex at one go. This book does have far more than just sex for its own sake. But once they start having sex, it's like he's never-ending. I would think that a human woman would get friction burns or at least a urinary tract infection at the least. Perhaps Devix's people needed to not only have bumps on their tongue, but a healing element in their saliva that took care of any discomfort before it started from that much friction. But that's my opinion at least. I borrowed this book through the Kindle Unlimited program.

    >Book Review – Wicked Captor >I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 1st in the Warrior of Rozun series and ends in an HEA. This book is the 1st in the Warrior of Rozun series and ends in an HEA. Cara is a kidnapped human kept in deplorable and dangerous conditions on another planet. In this reality, humans have no knowledge of other species, so Cara’s easy acceptance of all the new species and planets around her is remarkable. Devix is a disgraced warrior, now working as a mercenary. His last job is to deliver Cara to his boss. Of course the instant mate attraction kicks in and Devix fights with himself as to what to do. >There is an unusual backstory to Devix that makes him so much more of a sympathetic character. Cara’s backstory is mentioned, but not really dwelt upon. The descriptions of the different foods and plant life are vivid and easy to imagine. The actual climax when the danger finally catches up to Devix is over fairly easily. Cara and Devix get their HEA, but Devix is still disgraced from his home planet. >This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 5 stars. I hope the next book helps Devix return home.

Great spinoff I’m really glad the author created this spinoff because I had been curious about Rixavox’s exiled brother since reading about him in the main Luxiria series. This first book in the series features Devix, who was unfairly exiled from Luxiria, and who has been working as a mercenary, charged with delivering an unwilling Cara to his boss to join his harem. But then he finds out that Cara is his fated mate and plans change. This book is very similar to the Luxirian series except that it takes place on an isolated planet and it lacks that community feeling. But this is also a bonus because it really gives Devix and Cara time to build their relationship and that is done really well. I liked the characters and the couples, if there’s just one thing I find problematic and bothersome, it is thinking about what Devix would have done if Cara had NOT been his fated mate. What would have become of her in that case? I’m not sure. Other than this, I did enjoy this and am excited for the continuation to Devix and Cara’s story.

This was really sweet and really well done! This is my first Zoey Draven book and I really enjoyed it! The story was satisfying and the characters were good! I’m excited to go back and read more about Devs species but I quite enjoyed this little snipped with Cara and him. I really enjoyed that the love and mating was a slow build and I’m excited to see how that Carrie’s on in book 2! I love the way that Zoey writes her characters and shockingly the 3rd person didn’t put me off as much as I though This was really sweet and really well done! I think my one small issue with this book is that the conflict had a very quick and simple resolution when I was expecting somewhat of a bigger build! Still a fantastic novel just a very quick resolution to the conflict! Definitely going to check out Zoeys other books as I’ve heard nothing but good things! But I think I’m going to put SFR on the back burner for a little bit to read some non SFR things!

The story of kidnapped Cara and Luxirian warrier Devix. This is your basic alien kidnapping, wake up naked in a slave pit kind of story. Cara is won then sold off. Devix is her escort to her new owner, but you know, when your fated mate bell rings there’s not a lot you can do. I really enjoyed this story. It had a good mix of world building and sexy times. I loved the description of Rozen and how cosy their life became. I loved the push/pull and the build up of tension. I loved the sex scenes. T The story of kidnapped Cara and Luxirian warrier Devix. All over a good example of this genre. A great HEA and a lot of sweetness. The next book continues their story which is not usually my thing. I might go back to the previous Warriors of Luxiria series first, although I don’t think you need to have read this first.

HFN - Part 1 of Devix's and Cara's story For adults only (18+ years old) Contains subject matter that can be offensive / trigger or sensitive to some. This includes adult language, detailed intimate scenes between human female and alien male with elements of light BDSM, and violence (fight to death, kidnapping, etc.). I liked reading about the "exiled" Luxerian brother, Devix, but there were places when the story didn't have the same smoothness that is normally experienced with a Zoey Draven story HFN - Part 1 of Devix's and Cara's story For adults only (18+ years old) Contains subject matter that can be offensive / trigger or sensitive to some. It also had a few more grammatical issues that typical stories, but I didn't have an issue with interpreting the intent. For maximum enjoyment, I highly recommend that the Luxirian series be read in order first.

im having a real hard time with the heroine's continued attraction to the hero when she /knows/ he's literally transporting her to a place where she'll be a sexual slave,,,,,,, also, she keeps worrying about hurting his feelings??? like im just not buying it. i feel frustrated with the characters in every single interaction they have. 39% was where i officially gave up but i might skim the rest of the book since im interested in how it ends. EDIT: i finished it by partly skimming, partly reading. im having a real hard time with the heroine's continued attraction to the hero when she /knows/ he's literally transporting her to a place where she'll be a sexual slave,,,,,,, also, she keeps worrying about hurting his feelings??? like im just not buying it. i feel frustrated with the characters in every single interaction they have. 39% was where i officially gave up but i might skim the rest of the book since im interested in how it ends. I absolutely loved this story! I think Zoey Draven did a fab job creating a situation that is beyond processing for a human gal and making it real for the reader. Drevix was the perfect 'alien' to let Cara find her way to her self once again. The relationship that builds between them was intense and hot! Add in some suspense, emotional 'baggage' and the usual communication issues most couples have to find a way to avoid and you have a very enjoyable read that'll have you madly turning pages.
