Scott Harris –
This was the 1973 Stephen Leacock award winning novel. I found it hard to track down a copy from the local library system but it was worth the effort. Capturing Montreal in the late 1960s, these short stories based on the stranger personalities of those city streets captures a feel for the diversity and richness that described Montreal in those years. Montrealers from this period will no doubt revel in its familiarity

The magic of Montreal, about a half-century ago - I still feel this Montreal deep inside whenever I visit, even though most of the places and probably all of the characters are long gone. This will be a hard book to find, unfortunately. It predates the digital era.

Only moderately interesting, even though I was a teenager at the time of the publication of this work. I do remember the balloon man that one of the essays was about but as for most of it, it didn't hold my interest.
