It is the aim of this book to provide undergraduate and beginning graduate students in mathematics or science and engineering with a modest foundation of knowledge.     Doubleplusugh :/. This was our text for MATH 4542, Dynamics and Bifurcations II or, as it's colloquially known, Domination and Bondage. One of the very few textbooks I sold -- I tried to burn it first, but even the fire didn't want it. On the positive side, I do now refer to events like being arrested, major organ failures, and the PATRIOT Act's extension as semi-bewildering "cusp catastrophes", and I do enjoy being semi-bewildering from time to time.
