So much fun still! I think I liked the first volume a bit more, but I'm still stoked to continue with the story. I can see this heading to great places for sure. So much fun still! I can't believe Buggy has a whole volume named after him. I totally forgot this. What kind of madness is this? Buggy for Pirate King. That's the final plot-twist. Can you imagine? Ah, Buggy. Poor Buggy. On the surface a cheerful and enthusiastic party animal... but scratch the surface a bit and you uncover a sad, bitter washout, venting his frustrations on everyone around him. Much as I enjoyed this volume, I'll be glad to see the story move on from him pretty quickly in the nex- say, remember when One Piece could complete an entire story arc within the span of a single volume? Ah, those were the days. Can't do that anymore, sadly. Great introduction to Nami, too. I like how Luffy of all people refuses to make friends with someone from the outset.

One Piece, Vol. 2 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next nine chapters (9–17) of the on-going manga series. Monkey D. As Luffy and Roronoa Zoro fight the Buggy Pirates, Buggy is found to have the power of a devil fruit which allows him to separate his body parts at will and control them. With Buggy's crewmen defeated, Luffy fights him one-on-one. This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Eiichirō Oda. For the most part, it is written and illustrated rather well. This tankōbon mainly centers on Nami, a thief and expert navigator that only steals from pirates. She refuses to join Luffy's crew, because he is a pirate, but eventually joins forces with him when the face 0ff Buggy the Clown, who is also ate a Devil Fruit, which gives him powers and a contemporary of Shanks – Luffy's pirate role model. Luffy's central mission is also fortified as he plans to protect anyone and everyone’s treasure in any and all forms. All in all, One Piece, Vol. 2 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.

In this volume, Luffy meets Nami, a thief, and excellent navigator. Actually, I actually don't know if she is great, or if Luffy and Zolo are just so bad at being sailors that she simply seems godlike. Our story takes place in a small town that has been taken over by pirates; Buggy the Clown in this case. He too has eaten a Devil Fruit, making conflict with him more interesting. I'll let you discover what his power is. Our favorite pirate is drawn into a fight with Buggy's group, as expected. Th In this volume, Luffy meets Nami, a thief, and excellent navigator. I'll let you discover what his power is. Our favorite pirate is drawn into a fight with Buggy's group, as expected. There's a lion and a man on a unicycle and other such weirdness that only pirates led by a clown can provide. It's a good time. Of note, this doesn't wrap up in this volume. It actually wraps up about half way through the next volume. Once you start these, you're reading through. The volumes, at least the early ones I have read, do not seem to care in the slightest where the actual arcs begin and end. You just get whatever the next 9 chapters are. That's nice if you're in for the long haul because you don't have to worry about shorter volumes causing there to be more to buy overall. But it can be annoying while reading because the end of your book doesn't mean the end of an arc (and it means you'll hit the end of an arc half way through a volume sometimes). It's still a really fun book, but it's something to keep in mind as you're finding copies to read.

Zoro's fight with Cabaji is the highlight in this one for me. The scene where he cuts himself and basically shows Cabaji the fingerest finger of all time is just brilliant! A fun second volume. It's exciting to meet Nami, who I am certain will become a key long-term member of the crew. She's supposedly an exceptional navigator. We shall see… I liked the plot arc with Bugsy, who also ate a Devil Fruit, and therefore makes the conflict much more interesting. But, like most manga, the Bugsy arc is just far too long for my taste. It's like, "Are we still on Namek? Oh. We are." #DragonBallZ The best part of this volume was Shushu. There a lot of other characters thrown into the mix that add to the ludicrous fun that embodies this series, and even Captain Buggy, the red nose clown pirate, has a special trick up his sleeve that makes him quite entertaining to see in action. I particularly liked Luffy's little side-plot arc with the dog that just added so much to his character, but besides that, the whole volume is filled with silly characters and silly encounters. Oh, and the arc does not end in this volume. Talk about a cliff-hanger. Pretty sure this will be a recurring thing. Luffy and Zolo travel to a town that is under the threat of the clown pirate Buggy and his circus crew. They meet a thief who only steals from pirates named Nami (and she's a good navigator as well which is pretty obvious foreshadowing) and she gets them into a load of trouble. This story moves quickly, has fun and creates some pretty memorable characters. This story continues into the next volume, but so far still has my attention and interest. This seemed less fun than the first volume. I feel like Luffy is a little impervious in this volume and because of that he doesn't take anything seriously. The second volume, containing nine chapters, and enough chaos, blood and another fight about to start... The fighting scenes should've been more elaborate, specially Zolo's fight... The final fight is still to come, in the next volume... It didn't quite catch me like the first volume, and I'm finding the lack of elaboration in the fight scenes just frustrating... Also it wasn't as amusing as the first volume... Anyway, we get to know Luffy's another technique, a defensive technique, also can be used offensively if Luffy wants, and he did... Pirate captain Buggy the Clown and his crew of circus artists have been the main source of humor, and Buggy the Clown might easily be interpreted as Stephen King's "It", which I did! And he has another name, much like Luffy... I'm eager to see them face off each other... Chapter 12 was a touching one; from chapter 12 and till the end, we get to know that "treasures" aren't all gems and diamonds and im/measurable wealth, it varies from person to person, from being to being, and every one of us has a "treasure" we want to protect... Like the previous volumes, Oda talks about his inspiration in creating One Piece, and his favorite pirate class... There are also Oda's sketches of the manga... I don't know whether Nami will "go on board" with Luffy and Zolo, the next volume might make things final in this regard... But she would make one of a kind navigator... Also, she had the map of the grand line in the first place, which Luffy absolutely needs... you can't deny her talent as a "pirate thief"... You kinda wanna have that kind of person in your pirate crew! Let's see what happens...

Between her inability to understand Luffy's logic and her own duplicitous ways, hilarity insues. We also meet great side characters like Boodle, the brave mayor who will not back down to the pirates, and Chouchou, a dog whose backstory is liable to pull your heart strings hard. The real star of the volume is Buggy the Clown and his goofy band of pirates. Their gags are very funny and the fights they provide are unique and action packed. Buggy will have you laughing out loud with his paranoia of nose jokes and the punishment that follows. His connections to Luffy through a past friend are also very intriguing. He is a reoccuring character and for good reason. He steals the show everytime. This volume definitely steps up the storytelling when compared to volume 1. It provides you with an entertaining arc filled with rich story development, character and world building, zany humor, and plot moments that grab your emotions and wont let go. Its a great continuation into the big world of One Piece

I am happy to report that I had a much easier time reading this the way you're supposed to than I did last time. Plot: I really enjoyed this plot and remember liking it in the anime, too. It's been so long since I've seen the beginning of the anime that I don't remember how closely it follows the manga, but it seems to be close. Best part in this one is the Pet Food Store that Chouchou guards. Characters: Luffy is just as funny as in the last one. Getting used to calling Zorro "Zolo" but I loved his attitude in this one. "Oh, I have a bad wound, I'll just sleep and it will be better soon. Oh, I'm just going to cut myself to give you a handicap in this fight." Nami is one of my favorites and I love her mischievous attitude. I also like that she has issues with pirates due to her past but is seeing how different Luffy and Zolo are. I admire the mayor for trying to defend his town and also for taking care of Chouchou. Buggy was a funny, dramatic villain. And of course, I adore Chouchou, though the fact he no longer has an owner makes me sad.
