I won a copy of this book through Goodreads giveaways. Being National Poetry Month, I decided to give it a go. What I appreciated most about these poems is that they were easy to understand. The rhythm was great and I enjoyed the rhymes as well. However, I do have trouble understanding KJV, so the referenced verses took more effort to read. I like when poems describe an experience and engage the senses. Sadly, these didn't do that for me. They seemed so impersonal and vague. And preachy. I like when poems describe an experience and engage the senses. Sadly, these didn't do that for me. They seemed so impersonal and vague. And preachy. The tone was very, "you should do this." I would have enjoyed a more personal and emotional voice. Plus, there was one weird poem where the author seemed to be ranting about not being able to get any good jobs without a degree. Yes, it was sort of personal, but not what I was looking for. It didn't fit into the Christian themes of the book at all. I did bookmark several others though that I am looking forward to reading many more times.

Lovely collection of poems. Many different topics addressed in your walk with faith and the author leaves helpful scriptures at the end of each poem to reiterate their prose.

"You ask for signs and wonders, As they did in times gone past. N' cry to God in outrage, When the good things do not last. For many things were shown, Recorded and written down. But what is God to do, When His Word you do renounce? All good things are of God, His Word does plainly state. Yet, the giver is ignored, While Lady Luck you play." I really wanted to love it and be moved but none of the poems made me react. There just wasn't any emotional pull. I really wanted to love it and be moved but none of the poems made me react. There just wasn't any emotional pull.
