Sabrina is a likeable character and I enjoy her integration into the town. She is the lead on the investigation rather than her cop boyfriend which is probably unrealistic but it’s a story. I’m happy to go with the flow even if it’s not truly believable. 4 stars out of 5

The dialogue in Apple Pie with a Side of Murder is cringe worthy. I like a good cozy mystery. But, I couldn't get past the horrible dialogue. The voices the narrator chose to use were also pretty bad. The dialogue in Apple Pie with a Side of Murder is cringe worthy. I like a good cozy mystery. This series is starting to grow on me, but there are so many repetitive editing mistakes, it’s frustrating. This causes many to leave low reviews. The bones are there for a great tale, but it’s difficult to pick out because one has trouble wading through the same descriptions of actions. A reader can only take so much of “my boyfriend”, “held up my pointer finger”, “eyes as wide as saucers”, “scrunched his nose”, and “bit the corner of my lip”. A reader can only take so much of “my boyfriend”, “held up my pointer finger”, “eyes as wide as saucers”, “scrunched his nose”, and “bit the corner of my lip”. I took notes as I read the book: — Right from the start, there’s tension between some people that may lead to murder, so that was a nice change from the previous books. — I thought *perhaps* I could get past the first three chapters without seeing “Forehead Wrinkled”, but I was wrong. If you’re wondering why this is significant it’s because those two words come up quite often (23 times in the Book 2 alone)—as does “Eyebrows Arched”; surely the author must have other phrases (to describe these things) in her repertoire? PS: Don’t actually turn “Forehead Wrinkled” into a drinking game; your liver will NOT thank you for it. — When Sabrina wanted to eat apple pie *and* a sundae, David, her boyfriend, “joked” that she would need to get on a treadmill—twice; seriously, why can’t a woman eat whatever she wants without being shamed? Eat that pie and sundae, Sabrina! — I’ve given up on wondering how Sabrina seems to know the ages of all the people she comes across (although, now, she knows their weight, too). The coffee she serves at her shop must be magical; that’s the only explanation I have. Yes, I know the author wants the reader to have a general idea of the character she’s trying to describe, but if these tales are being told from Sabrina’s POV, she could have Sabrina guess ages/weights—unless Sabrina actually knows because she has interacted with certain people via school, work, or other pursuits. — David clearly has no problem with Sabrina helping with his investigation; he’s either a really terrible police officer or a dolt. Maybe both? She goes into the crime scene with him and sees the dead body; he doesn’t even try to stop her. One deputy stopped the deceased’s family member from going into the crime scene, yet Sabrina waltzed right in! No police officer would ever allow that. Oh, but wait... David has a solution for that. Of course he does. — We’re no closer to knowing about Sabrina’s sister or the secret, men-only meetings; however, the mysterious lights are finally explained—and it’s not ghosts.

I gave this only two stars, because so many things about this series bother me and I've only read three. David is a police detective, but he is lousy at it. He tries to be authoritative but comes off as inept and somewhat weak. His girlfriend, Sabrina, has a job in her family's coffee shop, and I am sure she draws a paycheck, but she isn't there much because she too busy being nosy and harassing people under the guise of investigator. She feels she must do this because she wants it solved right now and David is just not getting it done to her satisfaction. They are rude, bullying and threatening to everyone they question. They say things like, "Do you know it's against the law to lie to the police?" If a suspect says they are done answering questions, David says "This isn't over until I say it's over." or "You don't get to decide that." They badger suspects until they are in such a state, then they'll say, "My, my, someone sure is upset." or "Why are you so jumpy." Everytime Sabrina wants to know about anything, most of which is none of her business, she wants David to whip out his badge and demand that her questions be answered. I can't figure out if the author deliberately makes them look silly and buffoonish, or if she's just not a good writer. And the word "deadpanned" is way, way over used. If I've seen it once, I've seen it 300 times (or so it seems.) I find myself pulling for the suspects and when that happens, it is time to find a new series. Sorry Meredith.

“Apple Pie With a Side of Murder” earns 5/5 Slices of Warm Apple Pie! The past couple of months have been difficult for Sabrina Daley, cryptic comments and murder investigations can be emotionally draining, but she and boyfriend David Carlson decided to bring back their Saturday Date Night to celebrate some ‘peace and tranquility.” They enjoy a great meal at Home Away From Home Cooking restaurant, but while debating which dessert to have, their ‘peace and tranquility” is interrupted. Owner Clarissa Anderson, the soon-to-be victim, is having a shouting match with busboy Felix Martin, the soon-to-be suspect, in earshot of everyone in the restaurant: Theft? Wages? Fired! Although Clarissa was obviously preoccupied by her husband’s appearance, another suspect option, she didn’t seem to want any help from Sabrina. Then on the way home, sans the dessert, two more mysteries rear up: Cars leaving the mysterious invite-only meeting? A light seen in the window of an abandoned manor? “Peace and tranquility” is done… This entertaining book is the third in the Daley Buzz Cozy Mystery series, and it and Meredith Potts have become big favorites of mine. Along with the murder mystery that does come to a final “Oh, my!” conclusion, the series weaves in several mysteries with clues sprinkled throughout, and hopefully one by one these mysteries slowly are solved: Lights in the abandoned manor touted as being ‘haunted’? Invite-only meetings of local businessmen? Ten-year cold case of Sabrina’s missing sister? I definitely suggest starting with “Chocolates With a Side of Murder,” then on to “Caramels With a Side of Murder” to get the entire picture. It is such an exciting and engaging adventure, you’ll not want to miss a single page! The evolution of Sabrina’s love interest, support and vocal concern from her parents and BFF, and the close-knit relationship with members of the Treasure Cove community make this a realistic read, no last minute characters or story twitches that don’t make sense. Delightful With a Side of Murder! “Disclosure: A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. However, all of the above opinions are my own.”

To try and relax Sabrina and David decided to have a date night at the 'Home from Home' restaurant and when debating between what dessert to get- the apple pie or the sundae, the patrons of the restaurant witness an argument between the owners. The next day the wife Clarissa is dead and there are more than a few suspects linking them to murder. Once again Sabrina and David are on the case and if I am honest David isnt much of a police officer without Sabrina, maybe she should join the force? Alongside the murder were are still wondering what happend to Sabrina's sister Jessica, and not much else has been revealed with regards to her, the mystery behind the lights in the old Waterstones Estate has been solved, but the secret mens only club is still ongoing.... look forward to seeing where the rest of the series is going. The Narration: Lisa Beacom is  at the helm of this book and the subsequent ones in the series and for me she is perfect fit. I have grown used to her voicing these books now that I cant envision anyone else now. The audio was crisp and clear and there were some pauses, which I can only put down to the page changes perhaps?

I am loving this series, each bringing characters in from previous books, giving a little more information to the continuing story. Sabrina is intuitive and her continual persistence to not let any case go cold helps to drive the investigations to their fruition. We get to see familiar characters like Wally and Ryan, and my favorites at the Daley Buzz, Elizabeth and Betsy. It makes listening comfortable, the stories have humor and gives a sense of satisfaction when solved. The narration is continued by Lisa Beacom. I am enjoying her performance, she brings vitality and warmth to the characters as well as the grit the Sabrina has. I am looking forward to the next installment, hoping for some more answers!

The characters were well portrayed. Lisa Beacom did great job. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

On the plus side, they have a lead on why there seems to be a light on at the Watterson Estate. Unfortunately, they haven't made much progress on figuring out the motivations of the secret society of all males operating in the once abandoned banquet hall owned by Seth Taylor. And they have many possible suspects for the recent murder of Home Away From Home Cooking Restaurant owner, Clarissa Anderson. While on a date, they overheard Clarissa fighting with busboy Felix Martin because she discovered him stealing and fired him. But he is just one of the many suspects they need to talk to. One reason I like this series is that it takes place in Northern Ca, which is where I live. I also like the characters and the way the author leaves us hanging a bit as each book ends. One to book four to see if they get any closer to solving some of the mysteries!

She doesn’t just write names, she creates people with individual personalities and situations that one can imagine encountering in everyday life.

Despite both Sabrina and her boyfriend being absolutely useless at questioning suspects, both have endeared themselves to me and I rather enjoy these novellas. Apple pie with a side of Murder is a light cozy mystery read it is also the third book in a series. David and Sabrina are having a nice dinner at a restaurant when they over hear an arguement between the owners. The next morning the wife is found stabbed to death. Who really killed her and why? There are plenty of suspects to choose from . A recently fired employee, Her Husband even the daughter. Which one killed her? I don't give spoilers so you'll need to read the story to find out. Here we get resolution about the mystery of the lights in Watersport's place, but the one about the secret society? That one only thickens. And there aren't new leads on Sabrina's sister, which is a shame :( Sabrina and her police boyfriend investigate yet another murder in the once peaceful town, and I'm wondering: is that secret society somehow related to this escalate on violence? I guess we'll have to wait until the next book (at least!) to know. I enjoyed this audiobook. It was just the right length. It jumped right into the action and didn’t let go. However, I really despised the woman who was murdered, which might be a good thing since she was killed lol. She was so whiny and just seemed selfish. But it’s no wonder, her daughter was worse than her. So grouchy. I liked the other characters. The narrator was good. I didn’t like the voice for the daughter but I think it was mainly the character. I will still listen to the other audiobook I enjoyed this audiobook. It was just the right length. It jumped right into the action and didn’t let go. This is the third story in this series and it is a quick read. Sabrina still feels compelled to solve the next murder in town and she works together with her boyfriend David. She's still no closer to finding her sister and the mystery of the lights in the abandoned house is solved but the one about the secret meetings is not. I enjoyed this easy to read story and am happy to recommend it. An advance copy of this book was supplied free by the author and this is my honest and unbiased review. I was blessed with a free copy of this book, and have chosen of my own volition to share my review with you! The sage continues...Sabrina, the coffee shop manager (although this book only had one scene in coffee shop) teams up with her Detective boyfriend David in solving the next murder in this small town. The murder is solved rather quickly. The story has some twists and turns, but ends as expected (crime solved)!

Kindle Copy for Review Sabrina and David decide to go out for a quiet dinner. But before they could order dessert a fight breaks out in the kitchen between the owners. The following morning the wife is found stabbed to death. There are plenty of suspects including the husband and even their daughter. Also include a newly fired employee and a lover. Who really want her dead and why? Another nice entry in this series.

Apple Pie with a Side of Murder: A Daley Buzz Cozy Mystery was a good read by Meredith Potts. Sabrina investigates a death at her favorite restaurant. Unfortunately for her there are so many suspects that could have murdered the victim. This was another great read about Sabrina's sleuthing tactics. Lisa Beacom did a great job of bringing life to the characters. I can't wait to read more by Meredith Potts. Apple Pie with a Side of Murder, My thirty-second read from author Meredith Potts and the third in the Daily Buzz Mystery Series, different than her other series in that there is an ongoing thread throughout the first three books & ongoing. Longer, at 159 pages, than many of the author's books I've read. Well-written & enjoyable. another cute, clean cozy mystery. I look forward to reading more in this series & from this author.
