However, he takes out the lowest of the low, bad guys and low lifes. I alway get ticked when one main character makes decisions for "what's best" for the other main character. He didn't give June a chance to accept him for who he was. He took her choices away from her. June was a resilient woman. Left by the only man she ever loved, she raised their son for 10 years on her own. She was kicked out of school, her family turned their back on her and she worked tirelessly to support her and her son. All the while, missing the love of her life. She waited every day for years for him to come back(he "tried" to move on a couple months after he left). I was glad that she didn't give in immediately when he came back. -no ow/om drama -neither had sex with others but Killian did try to move on and kissed another woman. He felt he was betraying June though. If he loved her so much, he should not have abandoned her. June went on some dates but nothing came of it. -violence and some of sexual nature (not to the heroine but other women) -pushing away by hero (years ago) and heroine was resistant for a brief time present day -some steam -no epilogue which was very disappointing

I enjoyed this book. It had main characters who were strong but soft when they needed to be. It's been a long time since I actually read a book by SC that I enjoyed but this book shows why I have never totally given up on her. Loved little Killian wish there were more scenes with him and the hero as he was such a character. I enjoyed this book. It had main characters who were strong but soft when they needed to be. So after what happened with Bain and his women, Killian decided to take some time off. And he went back to the place that he was last happy, and also to check up on the women he loves. Thinking that June is happy and has a better life than what he gave her, he finds out it is anything but that. June met a guy and fell in love and thought that he dreams would come true, but then he leaves and she finds out that she is pregnant. She loses her scholarship, her parents kick her out and now she's living in a one bedroom flat with her son, Killian's son and working two jobs to make ends meat. So when Killian suddenly appears back in her life and bringing danger with him, how can she trust a man who lied to her and just disappeared. It's not just herself she has to look after she has a son now that depends on her, a son who is a bit wild and needs his mother. I enjoyed this story, June was an okay character for me, thought after everything she has been through she would be more badass, a stronger person. But I didn't get that impression. I loved Killian though, bad ass and doing whatever it takes to protect his family. I'm hoping the next one is Boss's story. Cause somehow I want to hate him, but then he does something and just makes you think that maybe he's not so bad after all.

Another member of Killer of Kings is down. Brought to his knees by mere girl. Again. I don't think Boss is happy about it. Or maybe he is a little jealous of his men's luck? Who knows. I understand she isn't used to Killians lifestyle, but I think common sense should have lead her to use her brain more, then just panic and react without thinking. I don't say that June wasn't tough girl, she just wasn't tough for Killer of Kings lifestyle. Fighting off dicks isn't the same as fighting off monsters. I loved Killian. Yes, he made bad choice then years ago, but I guess his view of himself, his insecurieties got the best of him. But the way Killian was when he meet his girl again and found out about his son.... That was priceless. The one thing I was unhappy about was, that he was too hothead sometimes. He needed to be colder, like a killer, instead of a man in love. I'm looking forward for next book, hoping this time it will be Boss time. But I don't think I should hold my breath. That man still wants to keep his secrets to himself.

Meh, not as good as I was hoping it'd be. I liked the second chance & secret child aspects of the story (those are my favorite tropes) but I didn't really feel the chemistry between the main characters. It wasn't passionate or all-consuming, which was what I was craving... especially after them being apart for ten years. If the other books in this series go on sale (like this one did) then I might check them out but as of now, I'm not chomping at the bit to do so. This is different ... each book introduces a new character that happens to be the lead storyline in the next book. I was unbelievably pleased to hear this from him and it made her taking him back so much easier for me too. And no epilogue, it would've been nice to know if they found a place and how things were once settled down. Hopefully, we'll read more about them in Shadow's storyline in the next book ;)

My Kindle. I really like same crescent books. This one was about a man whose lost out on ten years of his sons life and away from the woman he’s always loved. I think when your in a relationship you should just be you and let me be me and make my own decisions and navigate my own path you can’t be both of us.

You love the needed vulnerable traits in our hero and strength in our heroine. Each story have the same outcome but each story is different and enjoyable on it's own. Killian and June This story will take the reader for quite a ride. This is the third book in the series Killer of Kings but can be read as a standalone. It is exciting for the reader to see how Killian and June reconnect after ten long years a part from each other. The twists and surprises make for an interesting novel.

This was my first book by these authors and it sounded very promising and right up my alley. The beginning was kinda bumpy though and I wasn’t sure if this was because Charming Asshole was the third book in this series - albeit a standalone - or if it just really started off confusing. Neither Killian nor June felt authentic and I had a major problem how after over 10 years everything happened so fast between them and their so-called feelings were stronger than ever. I didn’t understand how Killian could have loved her so much and lived so close but never went to see her. Speaking of living close by, I was annoyed how often he drove to and fro the town June lived in within what felt like only minutes. The entire story was too fast paced and happened all in just a few days. It didn’t flow nicely as it felt more like jumping from one moment to the other and only longer scenes at one place/time were better written. I know this was fiction and not everything’s realistic but I think there should be a certain realistic level held regardless of it. Especially since Killian felt more like a supernatural because he could kill an entire bar full of armed bikers without a scratch. And why would big bad bikers need help from anyone outside of their club? I thought they have their own rules and handle everything their way?! The story was a constant back and forth with Killian driving around and repetitive conversations between him and June. After all those years, she gave in too quickly and her poor living was over thanks to his fortune. I was no fan of June, her gullibility and the constant change of her attitude annoyed the hell out of me. She promised to stay by his side even though she just found out he’d lied to her all those years ago, never came for her in the past years and killed people for a living. Then she suddenly wasn’t ok with it and wanted him to stay with her and not do his job even though he wanted to save her. And later on she was unnecessarily reckless and went into the lion’s den. I might have been ok with all of that when she’d been with him for a few years and they’d been older but I wouldn’t come running to my first crush from ten years ago, of whom I know nothing about. June and Killian seemed untouchable and this was as unreal as it could get, although the second he was blinded by light, he was chained to the wall. How did he survive the last 10 years as a killer when he was this careless? The tip of the iceberg though was how they handled June’s son. He had to stay with strangers for days while she could have easily been with him. How could a mother raise her son alone for ten years and suddenly put him in hands of dangerous strangers who kill people and not be concerned?! I was only skimming the sex scenes but not because they were bad, they just felt thrown into the story at random and I just didn't feel it. There doesn't always need to be sex involved and in this case, where the characters had so much do deal with and to sort out, it just felt off, also because I didn't see any emotional connection between the characters. Anyway, I didn’t want to rant about the bad stuff but just explain why I rated this book with two stars. So please bear in mind that this is just my personal opinion. On a positive note, the authors accomplished to build up suspense which made it easier for me to finish the story. There was a lot of potential in this story which sadly wasn’t maxed out.

I have not read any of the previous books in the series but this can be read as a standalone. Killian is a hitman who returns to the scene of a previous hit only to find that the woman he fell in love with there (and lied to about his identity) had gotten pregnant and he now has a 10 year old son. With very little groveling for ten years of hardship, June falls for Killian (Sr.) all over again so a threat to her life is added in for tension and story progression. Meh. This should be renamed "Hitman Lite". Killian works for an Organization of hitmen led by a man named "The Boss" (slight snicker). But don't worry, he only kills people who are low life's and really deserve it. After all he has STANDARDS. No women or children hits and no underage prostitutes either. If your going to give your hero a background with a hard edge then turn around and polish his moral standards to make him appear better then what's the point? Just give him a different job already. Even the MC president was taking the club "straight". June had a slight case of TSTL at several points but thankfully was kept from really acting on it. Killian (Sr.) didn't really interact much with Killian (Jr.) so no guarantee he'd be the extra special father implied. I guess I found this one to be so preposterous that it yanked you out of the story too much. It's like those billionaire books where they can't find a date. I kept thinking "yeah right" too much. Ymmv.

Eeeh!.. It's a bit of fun for a couple of hours, no high literature here. Could have used an editor to make the flow of the story a bit smoother. It's a bit of a silly premise with characters that don't seem to fully commit to their stories and circumstances. Not the worst I've ever read. Eeeh!..
