This book has a strong sense of character and setting. The Magus Ru'ark is dangerous to many, but he is loyal to his most faithful. It may seem like chance that he was able to purchase the beautiful Nelina to be his slave. However nothing seems to be left to chance as readers fall deeper into the fantasy of kingdoms and magic, romance and trust. There is more than meets the eye with every character that is introduced. Sometimes it is uncertain as to who to trust and knows more than they reveal t This book has a strong sense of character and setting. Definitely a good start

I wasn’t really sure what to expect with this book. The story focuses on the Magus who owns several pleasure slaves and Nelina is sold to him as a slave by her gross uncle. However, she wasn’t expecting that she would actually fall in love with him (what?!) and he too starts to catch feelings for her but he is conflicted because such is the way with romance. This isn’t the typical romance book though. It has magical elements to it too and it was like nothing I’ve read before which I really appre I wasn’t really sure what to expect with this book. I also thought it was pretty awesome that the book was written by a husband and wife duo. The blending of their writing worked really well as it does with Lisa Jackson and her sister Nancy Bush.

The Magus" is a stunner, magnificent in ambition. Absolutely Phenomenal! If you like thriller, suspense and Romance all mixed together this is it! I was scared, thrilled and intrigued. Fun easy read! This book is about a young girl named Nelina that is lost her parents as a child and then was raised by her evil uncle that sold her to what in this book is referred to as a "slaver" who then sold Nelina to a royal wizard, or a Magus, named Ru'ark. Ru'ark buys her to help save all the kingdoms from the waste, but along the way the two fall in love. This story has a little bit for most interest areas, it has magic, love, sex, battles, and gore. It is over 300 pages, but it is a super fast read, so the book does not feel as long as it is. I will also say that this is the book one, so this will be a series so not all will be resolved, you will be left with questions. Overall I would easily give this book a 4 out of 5 stars, the few items that to me hold this book back from being a 5 out of 5 is first the storyline itself is not the most original, there are many like it, but i do have to stress that even with that i did still really enjoy reading this book. The second would be the ending, the switching back and forth between what was going on with Ru'ark and what was going on in the temple with Nelina, was not spaced out properly making it a tad confusing. In one paragraph you would have Ru'ark fighting and then the very next paragraph without any indication you would be in the temple with Nelina. Lastly, I wished as a reader i had gotten a chance to learn more about certain characters, one prime example would be Adar, part of his backstory is given yes, but he is not as to me highlighted like Elian. I hope that since this is only the first book in the series that in the others we do get more backstory. I do have to commend the authors they did a great job at the erotic side of this story, sex scenes are not the easiest to write without either the romance being lost or them coming off as awkward, and none of the ones featured here are... So in conclusion, would i recommend this book, heck yeah. I myself look forward to the other installments, however many there many be, in this series. It is a super fast and fun read!

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would! The opening chapter, the opening scene even, was so very full of fan-service that usually bodes ill for the book that follows, but in this case it managed to keep the eroticism while not reducing Nelina (or other characters) to objects or robbing them of agency, despite the status of being a slave. The opening chapter, the opening scene even, was so very full of fan-service that usually bodes ill for the book that follows, but in this case it managed to keep the eroticism while not reducing Nelina (or other characters) to objects or robbing them of agency, despite the status of being a slave. The book avoided a lot (but certainly not all) of the tropes common to romance particularly where there’s a very large power disparity between the protagonists, and in many ways presented a refreshing take on the dynamic. When reviewing a book I enjoyed, I often check out the most negative review(s) to see what criticisms were levelled, such that I might think about them / say why they weren’t a problem for me. In this case, I see a one star review opining that the book seems to promote slavery, female subservience, and a meek character who wants to please her master and actively seeks to do so. So: Regards the promotion of slavery, there’s a clear line between fantasy and reality. Here, both the (unpleasant) reality and (pleasant) fantasy are present. Regards the latter, it is—and I mean this with no disrespect to the book which I enjoyed—romantic fluff and light kink. Regards female subservience, I must admit I hadn’t really paid attention to gender so much as the dynamics. The genders of the protagonists could have been reversed and it would have read as exactly the same story to me. It wasn’t about “he is male and therefore superior; she is female and therefore inferior”, it was “he is a powerful master who does also care for her; she is an obedient slave who looks out for him also”. Regards her seeking to please him, this is out of love first and foremost. Note that she rejects being enslaved from the outset, rejects being sold by her uncle to the slave trader, rejects being sold by the slave trader to Magus’s household, and only switches her position upon meeting him; there’s a love at first sight (not the most credible plot aspect to me, but people believe in that) and she actively starts looking out for his interests before she’s sold to him, “betraying” her “owner” (the slaver)’s business dealings rather than let the Magus be taken for a ride. So from that point on, it’s more about a person trying to please their partner, than anything else. And of that, I approve! Perish the thought, a healthy relationship built on mutual care and trust with side-servings of consensual kink. So yes, all in all, a good read, in my opinion!

The Magus, the first of A Chronicle of Rebirth series, by the Fletcher husband and wife team is different from the things I usually read. But, I am glad I read it. It took me out of my comfort zone, but it also had themes that cross genres. For instance, this is a fantasy adventure romance. Many of the same themes of love and fantasy elements, but it is also unique. Many of the same themes of love and fantasy elements, but it is also unique. It follows the intense relationship between Nelina and The Magus in this fantasy world where readers meet kings, queens, dragons, and more. What stood out to be about the couple’s relationship is that the writers did an excellent job of showing the powerful chemistry between the unlikely pair. Additionally, the writers do a wonderful job of developing their characters. No character is perfect, and they show their flaws as well as their strengths. The dialogue helps to bring the characters and the story to life as well. Finally, any fantasy novel should be strongly rooted in a fantasy setting, and The Magus is set in a fantasy world that will take readers to a magical place.

Nelina is a free woman, until she found herself in the unlikely situation of being sold at a slavers auction, that is. The man who buys her is none other than The Magus Ru’ark, a fearsome man who has a reputation for being ruthless and shrewd. What his reputation did not reveal is that he happens to be incredibly handsome, and after a while of being around him, Nelina she can’t help but think there is more to him than what she has heard. Ru’ark on the other hand, thought only that this newest slave would help him achieve his goals, he certainly did not expect that he would come to develop feelings for her that went beyond his original plans. The husband/wife author team certainly outdid themselves on this book. It is mysterious, full of wonderfully detailed characters set in a fantastic world. There is a second book and I will be getting that one momentarily, just as soon as I finish this review. I really liked the story, and the slight forays into the “non-traditional” world of love was a wonderful thing to read about. Too few authors can depict these things accurately.

Adventurous journey of fantasy and magic! An adventurous journey of fantasy and magic. The Magus Ru’ark is a complex man, he is dangerous and harsh but soft and faithful. He purchased his beautiful women Nelima to be her slave, but could not resist her beauty and happens to fall for her and so does she. The story revolved around Magus and is filled with elements like fantasy, magic, fear, romance, trust, relationship and slavery. There is lots going on to keep the reader engaged.
